  1. You claimed it is #1 in business majors. What were you trying to say?
  2. Sure there are some young phenoms in other sports, although I'm unfimiliar with tennis. Who was the last 17 year old to compete in men's tennis successfully? And how often does it happen? And when did a 55+ year old compete in a major tennis tournament?
  3. Once again guys, I'm not saying golf is not a sport. I've said multiple times in this thread that it is. I'm only pointing out the amount of athleticism it takes to compete.
  4. I never said he was fat, although he does have a gut on him (at 17). I said he is out of shape and not "athletic". Not an athletic build, that's all - but you don't need it for golf
  5. You missed my point completely. I didn't suggest Hossler would always be able to compete. But just the fact that he can (on golfs biggest stage), even one time, differentiates golf from other sports. An out of shape junior in high school would not be playing and having a 'good tournament' in other sports. My point about "55 year olds" was not that Hossler can compete with them, it's that someone 55 years of age can also (along with a kid) compete in golf - you don't see that in other mainstream sports. And I see a bit of a difference in the athleticism between Bryce Harper and Beau Hossler - the point I've pretty much been trying to make. I see Harper as an athlete with speed, agility, quickness and power. Others see that in Hossler....
  6. This is just further proof that you really have no touch at all with reality.

    Care to revisit that?
  8. Agree. No way that swing is 115 MPH or getting those distances.
  9. No other major sports have 17 year old (out of shape) kids and 55 year old men competing for the biggest tournaments.
  10. Keep doing what you love while you can. 99% of people don't make a living doing what they love...
  11. Feel free to talk about the topic (or the conspiracy theaories) all you want, but it was still a dumb question. As others have pointed out, he isn't going to say it was fixed, and there is no explination or defense needed to prove it wasn't.
  12. I will say I actually enjoy Rome when (and only when) he is doing interviews. He does a very good interview with the biggest and best in the sports world. He is engaging, intelligent, and people are pretty candid with him. Unfortunately that's about 10% of his radio show. The rest is filled with, many times, completely ignorant rambling and "takes" on non-sports related things. If you aren't a "clone", you don't have a clue what he is talking about 75% of the time. I'm shocked that adults can get into the stupid "smack off" and "hack off" crap, and starting every communication with him with "Holy Freaking Crap..." It's so elementary it's ridiculous.
  13. I listened to the whole thing. I never said Rome was antagonizing or accusatory . It was simply a dumb question, period, no matter who asked it. It had already been asked of Stern, and it was equally as dumb from all who asked. Just because "the public" (Rome's idiot "Clones") are tweeting and posting about it, doesn't make it a legitimate professional topic to bring up. And Rome made himself look even worse going on and on about it for ever after the interview. But that's about all he does...
  14. Rome makes a fool of himself on a daily basis...
  15. I'm not saying it wasn't a really dumb question and he didn't have the right to be offended/insulted and defensive. But he still could/should have handled it better.
  16. Stern has been great for the NBA. And in 99.9% of his interviews and interactions, he has been nothing but class. For whatever reason, he went off on Rome and didn't handle it well. No big deal. He shouldn't be fired, nor does it have any bearing on how well he does his job. And Rome may be the biggest tool on the planet.

Pretty big game tonight. Miami could really use a win and/or the Thunder could really take control....
  18. Me either. A player or coach wouldn't be suspended, let alone fired. That's ridiculous. And also firing the writer of the story? Come on...

Wade/Harden a wash??? Are you kidding?
  21. Uh, no. Not close. You must have read none of my posts. I have said multiple times golf is a sport. I never said any professional athletes aren't "athletes". I am just saying, AGAIN, that I think a lot of sports don't require a lot of athleticism, AS I DEFINE ATHLETICISM (in a general sense). I think there are a number of professional athletes, in a number of different sports, that aren't very athletic. I know most of you disagree with that...
  22. Of course you'd look bad going against any pro athlete in their sport(s). I'm talking more general athleticism. I know 99.99% of people can't throw a ball like CC Sabathia or hit like Mark Texiera, but that doesn't make them automatically more athletic than everyone that can't do that, IMO.
  23. I'm not nitpicking at all. Again, this is simply MY definition of athletic. All the guys you listed are not very athletic, IMO. Many professional athletes are not very "athletic", IMO. I view guys like LeBron James and Calvin Johnson as the best "athletes".
  24. Technically, you are correct. Again it comes down to how you define an athlete. When I think of speed, quickness, and agility, I associate it with a persons ability to move and run, not stand stationary and swing an object. I do agree golf is a sport, the only thing I am debating is the level of how 'athletic' golfers are. By my definition of athletic, they are not . I do respect others opinion that think otherwise.
  25. Soccer, Football, Hockey, and many other sports can end in a tie, without a winner declared...
