Why is everyone hatin' on my Puma gear?
rushamania replied to badbrad421's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I wear PUMA stuff all the time, including all orange. I'm a high-handicap player and don't care what anyone thinks. I went to Oklahoma State and have always loved orange, so most people learn that really quick. I also have an orange PUMA bag. I think golf should be FUN and dressing up (for me) is part of that fun. -
I've been playing for almost two years and am addicted. My best shot came about a month ago. I drove a 330 yard Par 4 and had a 25 foot eagle putt. I missed by about three feet and made birdie. First time I'd driven the green, pretty cool feeling finding your ball on the green after being on the tee box. Probably my 20th birdie and I have probably played over 100 rounds. The next hole I hooked a 3-wood into the street, took a penalty, and made a triple bogey. That's golf..........

In Hand Pics: Odyssey Versa putter
rushamania replied to mvmac's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I got the #1 on Monday night and used it all day yesterday. It took me a while to get used it. I averaged 1.89 putts over 9 holes. So far so good. I have never used a blade, but really like this putter. It does give me a little more confidence for some reason. -
Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)
rushamania replied to mvmac's topic in Rules of Golf
I game both types of putters and will have no issues using my belly putter in 2016. If I play with a random person who gets pissed, I'll remind them we aren't getting paid to play like the pros. I will start meesing around with the putter and see if I like using it without anchoring though. -
I play with up to a 9 wood right now. I also have 11,13, and 15 woods that aren't in the bag right now. I really want to be a better iron player and get the woods out of my bag. I start to question myself on this, however. If I hit a 13 wood (7 iron), 150-160 everytime, why even have a 7 iron? I get a lot of crap from EVERYONE I have played with, even for having a 7 wood (my 190-200 club). It's a constant internal battle.....

I have been practicing the punch shot. I'm very inconistent with my irons on a full shot, so I have been working on the punch. I'm trying to get the lofted fairway woods out of my bag, but I need to be able to hit a consistent 4&5 iron rather than playing a 7&9 wood. I need to get on the range, as I have been practicing at an indoor range. My 4 and 5 iron punch shots "feel" twice as good as my full iron shots, so i assume they are traveling a good distance.

Rocketballz driver or 3 wood?
rushamania replied to Vinniet's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have the driver and love it. I have the 3W and hate it. -
Ok, Im a convert...the Pro V1 and 1x balls rock!!!!
rushamania replied to mailman's topic in Golf Talk
I play the Velocity. However, I get a lot of Pro V1's as gifts doing business. I played 9 after work earlier this week and decided to try a Pro V1 after the first 3 holes. I haven't wanted to use them since I'm still learning, which is why I have played cheaper balls like the Velocity. All I can say is WOW. On my last six holes, I was one under (5 Pars and a birdie). That is probably the best stretch of golf that I've ever played. Was it the ball? Most likely not, but once I hit one good one, it did inspire some confidence. Needless to say, I will start my next round with a Pro V1. -
RBZ Driver is the REAL DEALIO
rushamania replied to Pronghorn's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have the driver and love it. I have a Diamana shaft on it. My average drive is about 250, but I've hit a few over 300. It's very accurate and forgiving for a new player like me. Good choice, at least in my opinion. -
Started playing in May of 2011. I broke 100 in November 2011. I broke 90 in July 2012 and have done it four times since. My lowest score is an 83. Breaking 80 is going to be really really hard. I was one under through my last six holes (5 pars, 1 birdie) yesterday, so I know I can do it. I ended up with an 89, just have to be WAY more consistent.

I have a 50 degree Mizuno JPX Gap Wedge and love it. Had a 100 yard shot last night after a nice drive and got it to 10 feet. Then it was birdie time and I actually made it.

Filling in between my driver and 4iron
rushamania replied to dawsoncreek's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a 3 & 5 wood before my 4 iron (when I bag one). Right now, I'm playing with a 7 & 9 wood and starting with a 6 iron, though. -
88 at Fossil Trace in Denver, CO on Saturday from Blues. My most consistent round ever.
-
Luckily, I have my dream bag. However, as I get better I may want other options. It helps that I got custom fit for everything, so each club has the same grip and is the correct length and all my shafts are custom. I'm a happy newbee.

Mizuno MP Fli Hi Hybrid Iron - Any feedback
rushamania replied to Island Par's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Sorry to bring up the zombie thread here. I've been playing the 2 &3 for sometime and really like these clubs. I like having a 2 iron in the bag, mostly because no one else does and I think it's cool/against the trend. These clubs can be had for cheap on ebay now (like $60 bucks). Great club if you don't like hybrids IMO. I don't use the 3 enough because the loft is so close to my 4 iron (21 vs 23) and I'm not sure if I would want to take my 60 LW out of the bag. -
43 on back 9 at City Park this morning. Started off with a birdie. Could have been lower but I'll take it for teeing off with the sunrise at 6:30 before work. I'm feeling like I should be able to break 40 on that course real soon.

I played Beaver/Bear twice this weekend in Breckenridge, CO. 96 on Saturday and 99 on Sunday. Played from further tees from than usual, so I was happy with my scores. The Nicklaus design is a little tougher than CityPark in Denver.
