  1. Well, in addition to my watch list I poted earlier, I've got a Boxster S, an old '72 911T, just got rid of a BMW 328i and I'm looking closely at buying my buddy's '67 912. Yes, I think I have a problem. lol
  2. Where in Georgia will you be? Some place like St Simon's Island or Hilton Head would be nice. Savannah is always quite pretty, as is Charleston. For something away from the beach, have you considered renting a cabin up in north Georgia? For a little more touristy stuff, there's Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN (think Panama City sans beach). Asheville, NC is also quite nice as you could book one of The Biltmore's packages and tour the vineyard/winery as well as The Biltmore itself (impressive and romantic). Similarly, just north of Atlanta is Chateau Elan which has a winery, spa and a pretty good golf course if you can sneak a round in.
  3. Some of us do watches and cars...
  4. There are three original Blue Men who came up with the concept, write all the songs and record the albums. They act as executive producers for the stage productions, but yes, the three guys you saw most likely weren't any of them as there is a whole troupe of Blue Men now. A friend of mine played with the Vegas band (not a Blue Man, but the drumset player in the backing band) a few years back. Said it was a great show to be involved with.
  5. Oh, and I meant to give you a little history on your choice: Pan American Airways (PanAm) asked Rolex to develop the GMT Master for their pilots to help them stay on time (the GMT hand is typically not adjusted when changing timezones, rather left on Greenwich Mean Time) during overseas travel. Rolex obliged and PanAm bought one for each of their pilots. Nice gift, eh? The GMT Master was also on the right wrist of famed Apollo XIII pilot Jack Swigert (his NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster Professional was on his left) while piloting the crippled spaceship back to Earth. The GMT Master II is the updated version of this watch.
  6. Find an authorized dealer and talk to them. Buy the shop first (meaning, find a dealer who treats you like they want your business), then buy the watch. Don't feel bashful asking for a discount. Some refuse and only sell at straight list, but it never hurts to ask. Maybe see if they'll throw in the first service or something. A Rolex GMT Master II (the full name of the watch you're looking at) is a fine timepiece that will last far beyond your lifetime if taken care of. Enjoy!
  7. You know the new one is $199, right?
  8. I wasn't saying I think he will wear red, I was stating that I'm seeing him tee off on #1 wearing a red shirt. Just providing a data point.
  9. He's wearing red.
  10. I'm primarily a drummer (29y): drumset, hand percussion, marching drums, etc. I also play bass (26y) and guitar (24y), and have been in a pile of bands over the years. My current gig is playing snare drum in a Scottish pipeband (bagpipes, etc). Lots of fun (and we played for the Walker Cup a few years back, for some golf tie-in).

    Formula 1?

Sheer, raw talent? I like Kubica, Sutil and Vettel. If I were staffing a team, those guys are my short list right now. No doubt the three you mention are all superb as well, and practically magicians behind the wheel, I just love seeing drivers with gobs of potential and watch them grow up. I said the same about Kimi back in his Sauber days, and the same about Alonso driving a Minardi. Some guys you can see their inherent talent beyond the car they may be stuck with.
  12. That's a nice Aquaracer. I've got an older TAG Heuer 2000 Automatic (which was renamed the Aquaracer a few years back), but mines not a chrono.
  13. Also note in response to my earlier note, it indeed does have both EDGE and 3G, so it's not either/or. Also note, to finance the major price drop, the data plan went up $10/mo on the new phone (from what I understand, still trying to find conclusive proof on this). I want a new one, but I want 32GB and I would bet the farm it's coming soon.
  14. I hope OSU makes it back to the National Championship Game. ....and gets beaten like a dusty rug by another SEC team.

    Formula 1?

In Lewis' defense, he was probably cycling through things on his wheel, and making adjustments, as everyone does on pit out. Looked up just in time to see two unexpected cars stopped in front of him and it was too late. While certainly a mistake and one to be embarassed by, it's no more egregious than Kimi spearing Sutil in the Principality two weeks ago, is it? Maybe it is, since the FIA have lobbied a grid penalty on Lewis and did nothing to Kimi. I feel bad for Nico though, as he got the same penalty as Lewis but hurt only his own race with the error.

    Iron Man

Saw it the Friday after it opened. Loved it. I dug ol' shellhead comics as a kid, so I really dug some of the nods to fans in there, but also saw how accessable it could be to someone completely new to the franchise. Probably the best superhero movie I've seen!

    Formula 1?

All three of those tracks could be made into FIA certified and F1-ready condition, but the other facilities do not exist. I'll use Road Atlanta as an example: to be ready for F1, the track would need to change the concrete barrier at T5, T6 and T7 (minor), do something to slow down the speeds from T7-T10a (they could be well over 230 into T10a) and they would need to build 24 World Class garages in the infield paddock. A few million bucks, and that's no big. The major hurdles are: no where close to enough permanent spectator facilities (bathrooms, grandstands, parking), no easy way in or out for the circus that is F1 (sportscar teams manage, but that's a whole different ballgame), far from enough hospitality nearby (maybe 1200 hotel rooms within 30 minutes, another several thousand in Atlanta, but that's 45-1h away) and probably most important is the aforementioned grandstands -- Bernie requires each ticketholder to be tied to a seat or section, and there is facility to limit viewing areas at Road Atlanta (a wonderful thing usually, but not to Bernard E). I think the two most reasonable opportunities for F1's return to America are Barber Motorsports Park (AL) and Miller Motorsports Park (UT). These tracks are practically tailormade for F1, but it'll never happen. Neither Alabama nor Utah is sexy enough for F1 I'm afraid.

    Formula 1?

You've got a darn good list, cbe. I will add Monaco, but not so much as a racer's racetrack, but as a place a technician shows his skill. I loved the race there this year with so much adversity -- how many front wings did we see? Spa Francorchamps is the best track on the calendar. (I'm a sucker for elevation change!) I would LOVE to see F1 at Laguna Seca, Road America or my home track Road Atlanta, but the economics of any of these will never make sense.

    Formula 1?

That track looks like it's gonna be fun to watch! Lots of technical passing opportunities.
  20. You guys gonna be able to keep the defense out of the pokey? lol
  21. Whelp, it's the Wings again. I didn't have a horse in this race, but it kinda bugged me seeing all those Thrashers on the Pens, so I 'spose I'm happy with the result...
  22. Aerospace and Diving watches are some of my favorites, so it's no surprise I love your Doxa and your Sinn. Very sweet!
  23. Very, very nice.
  24. While it is possible, you lose some really cool network-related features, most notably Visual Voicemail, where you can manage your voicemail inbox by selecting what you want to hear now, later, never, skip forward, skip back, pause, etc. One of the coolest things on them. Also, T-mobile doesn't have EDGE as far as I know (they have a different 2.5G protocol fwiu, plus some 3G), so you wouldn't be able to use broadband data with it.
  25. Haha, where do I begin? I think it's something like "Hello, my name is Paul, and I have a watch problem.." In somewhat regular rotation, I've got: Omega Speedmaster Professional (Moon watch) Breitling SuperOcean Zenith Elite HW Universal Geneve HW Omega Seamaster Zenith/Movado Museum HW Longines Executive Rado Diver Auto Tag Heuer 2000 Swatch Body and Soul irony automatic ...oh and about a dozen others (lots of Swatches and Skagens). Yes, I am nuts.
