One Company's Clubs II - One weekend scenario
mich3210 replied to hypergolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would have to go with Cobra, mainly because they are the only clubs on the list that I have a good deal of personal experience with. Not most peoples first pick, but I had to go with what I am comfortable with. I love my cobra driver, and the Baffler hybrids are awesome, though I don't own any yet. I also really like my FP irons and wedges. I am no good with a flat stick, so that doesn't really matter to me. As someone else mentioned, I would be more worried about my game than the clubs. -
Cart Bag suggestions...
mich3210 replied to mich3210's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
This is the type of opinion/response that I was looking for. The scenario that you mention is exactly what I am trying to avoid. A few of the guys that I play with on a regular basis have really large bags, and I don't want to have to stuff both bags on the back of the cart. If the SCB Deluxe fits nicely I will take a look at those as an alternative to the C-130. Same features, but in a smaller package. Thanks! I still haven't found someone locally that sells Sun Mountain. And things like this I like to see in person before I buy, even if I end up purchasing it online. Anyone else have any other suggestions? -
I know it took me almost all of last season to finally get the hang of the hybrid I got from my brother. He struggled hitting it so he gave it to me. I know that I hit mine just like an iron, and am finally getting good distance with it. Now I need to work on my accuracy. IMO they take some getting used to and practice. I am still not confident with mine. Good luck, and don't give up too quickly.

Cart Bag suggestions...

I like that feature as well. I plan on heading out today to see if I can find one and check them out. Thans for the suggestions. -
Cart Bag suggestions...

I really like the looks and features of the c-130, especially how it is configured for specificallt for a cart. I know it is big, but the design is great. It is bigger than what I really want, but I think that is the one thing that I am willing to sacrifice in order to have the 14 full length dividers and putter well. Thanks for your suggestion. I think I found a local pro shop that carries Sun Mountain. Hopefully I will get a change to check them out this weekend. -
I just ordered a set of the FP's from TGW. I got a great deal on the 2007 model (which got better reviews than the 2008's). When I was looking during last season I originally went specifically for the S9's. I hit them, and decided that they were just too soft. They felt great, but I got no feed back what so ever on miss hits etc. I want some forgiveness, but I what to know when I am doing something wrong so that I can improve. So I started looking at "game improvement" rather than "super game improvement". I narrowed my choices down to the R7, X-20 and FP. I hit all 3 together and decided I liked the FP. To me they looked better at address than the other two, and I hit them just as well. Plus they were less expensive. I will try to write up a review after then come in and I get a chance to play a few rounds with them.

Cart Bag suggestions...

Some of the guys I play with regularly have huge, meaning wide, bags that really do not fit on a cart together. If they do, you can't get to the inside pockets because it is too tight. I was trying to avoid that. I haven't seen any Sun Mountains in person. How is the SCB or SCB Deluxe in comparison to the C-130? Looked at these and did not like them, also they do not have a putter tube as you mentioned. If you read the post, I said I already have one and do use it when I walk. But when playing in tournaments or going on golf trips where I play 36/day there is no walking. Looked at this one, but I don't like the clips. There is nothing to protect the putter. Thanks for your suggestions. Just thought I would see if there was a model out there that I didn't know about that would accommodate everything I was looking for. -
This is not the typical what bag do you use thread. I am looking for something in particular. First off I am looking for a cart bag, but not one of the Cadillac sized ones. I would like it to have 14 individual full length dividers, and it must have an external putter tube. I have looked at a lot of nice ones including Datrek, Ogio, Bag Boy and Great Divider to name a few. The one problem is that they are HUGE! It is a pain to get two of these to fit on the back of a cart together. Basically I am looking for the features of most of the larger cart bags, but in a smaller package. I have also looked at some of the Sun Mountain products, but haven't been able to find someone local that sells them. Thoughts? I already have a decent carry bag that I can use when needed, so I don't want to get another one of those. Thanks.

2 - I just bought a pair of the black NIKE Rejuvenate's. Probably not as good as the FootJoy DryJoys, but I thought they were more comfortable and a better price. I prefer shoes that look/feel like sneakers and do not have a sadle. I also have my original 3 year old pair of FootJoy GreenJoy's which I am holding on to as a spare pair.

anyone get any new clubs for the 2008 season
mich3210 replied to obsessedgolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just ordered some 2007 Cobra FP's 4-SW from TGW... they should arrive tomorrow. They are the first real set of irons that I have purchased. The last few years I was using a hand me down set of Golden Bear GB-72's. I played a lot last year and really improved my game, and don't think I can get any better with those clubs. So, I hit almost every club out there last year from the major companies and had it down to the X-20's and the FP's. After hitting them back to back I couldn't tell much difference, so I went with the one that wouldn't lighten my wallet as much. -
Tommy Armour. Got i from my brother because he couldn't hit it. Works great for me. I like it a lot better than a fairway wood. They can take some getting used to but I love it.

Titleist DT so/lo - what happened??
mich3210 replied to walk18's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
According to TGW: DT So/Lo DT Carry DT Roll Optimized- Distance Distance Distance Core - Polybutadiene Polybutadiene Polybutadiene Dimple Design - 392 252 392 Cover - Surlyn Surlyn Surlyn Quantity - 12-Ball Pack 12-Ball Pack 12-Ball Pack Color - White White White From looking at the above information the DT Roll should be more like the DT So/Lo than the DT Carry. But I would try them both out, you never know which one you would like more. -
Plastic or Wood Tees? Something Else?
mich3210 replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Wood for now until I have to buy some more... then I may try out some composite/plastic zero frictions. -
I am also considering the Callaway's and TM r7's. You might also want to take a look at the Cobra FP's as they are about $100 less than the others. However I haven't seen much feedback on them here on the forum. All three ranked well on the Golf Digest 2007 Hot List for game-improvement irons.

Congratulations on the new purchase. I am planning on a new set within the week as well. When it comes down to it, its all how it feels for you. Now I just need to make the decision on which ones...

I am in the same position and have focused in on the TM r7's, Callaway X-20's and the Cobra FP's. I know it is all personal preference, but it seems that many people like the x-20's. Can anyone comment on the Cobra's or TM? Thanks!
