  1. They have gone overboard with the rule on the apps How a weather app is going to help your game is beyond me.
  2. Rickards Red Draft with a pound of chicken wings is my New Years celebration.
  3. Yes. Definitely. But it's against the rules during a round. Warm the golf balls up in hot water.
  4. The whole bottle? Have you ever tried Club Soda as a mix instead of Coke? Not as sweet even though Coke Zero is sugar free.
  5. There is something about a sunset that makes you think about another day gone forever.
  6. Excerpt: • Tommy Bolt: "Always throw clubs ahead of you, that way you won't waste any energy going back to pick them up." • Ben Hogan : "If we could've screwed another head on his shoulders, Tommy Bolt could have been the greatest who ever played."
  7. Me on the 16th tee at Half Moon Bay about 10 years ago. Drew it off that left bunker Aha. Good setup. Strong grip. What happened from 10 years ago? Awfully small head on that driver or was it a three wood?
  8. There is an advantage to writing quickly even though it might not be as legible as one taking their time. When you're writing an exam paper it can mean the difference in getting more marks simply because you can expand and answer more questions before time runs out. I always used to envy those guys next to me scribbling madly away and finishing in time to review their paper.
  9. That is way too fancy everyday correspondence and more suited to a wedding invitation or something like that. Those long lines are unnecessary. At one time before computers neat handwriting was a necessity. 'Penmanship' was a course taught in school Practicing and turning in assignments was part of the course. We were graded on the handwriting. The reason for stressing writing was because of jobs that involved handwriting like bookkeeping and accounting. With hand bombing balancing the books could be a lengthy chore if you couldn't read the numbers. If you spotted any of the old texts on bookkeeping the script was a work of art. My handwriting is very good in my opinion. Not fancy at all but you can read it quite easily. Righthanders normally slant the script to the right and lefthanders slant the script to the left. We were even taught how to slant the book. When I get a chance I will submit my sample of the old school type of handwriting. It bugs me when I am filling out a form and it requests please print. In addition handwriting changes can indicate some health changes. Parkinson's patients start writing smaller and with more difficulty. I would guess that the person who wrote the sample here is the flamboyant type.
  10. Well that's what makes Jack stand out. He did distance himself from the pack. Tiger is having a tough time doing that now. Does that make him greater? It's not Jack's fault is it? When I bragged about winning I always got the comment. "Who did you beat"?
  11. Last thing. I used to hear often that I must like dogleg-left holes, the implication that I must slice. I would tell them no, I draw the ball. But I do like what I call 'slice putts' - putts that break right-to-left. Don't know why; I just see the line better for some reason. I am left in golf as well and like the "hook" putts better than the "slice" putts for some reason. I also have my putter face closed at address and impact and never knew it until someone pointed it out.
  12. Well so far Jack holds the record for most majors wins. Until Tiger catches up he will be in the record book for that stat and Tiger will not.
  13. This was Jack's opinion before Tiger started to threaten his records. I think Jack knew what he was talking about. We know that. But the topic here is which dominant player in comparison was better. Jack or Tiger?
  14. But wait. Everyone of those commercials has a But Wait feature. Buy two and we will throw in the third one free.
  15. Yeah but. Think of how many people can't beat you because they don't even have any kind of a car. That was the logic applied to the argument which I questioned.
  16. Tiger dominated ~7 billion people. Jack dominated ~3.5. Which one do you think is harder? That is a very simplistic argument but in general it is getting harder to get to the top in any field and the depth is increasing. That is not simplistic. In fact it's not even a logical argument. Who you beat, not how many can't beat you, is the logical argument. From your interpretation I have to be pretty good because out of the 7 billion people, how many can't golf or even have picked up a club.
  17. That might be an advantage. It will save you money in the long run.
  18. That certain intangible you are speaking of is the intimidation he held against other players. They obviously are no longer intimidated as before since the scandal took place. They no longer hold him in awe. Jack had that intimidation factor also. What they both had is the ability to make clutch putts. Once that's gone it's ball game over. Same with Tom Watson. So if Tiger can continue to make clutch putts he will take over Jack's record. As far as driving the ball etc. is concerned you simply cannot compare the equipment of today with the equipment Jack played with. Jack was nicer to watch. That fist pump has got to go.
  19. Buckeye: The question I asked was how do you score in competitions without the rangefinder if they are not allowed. Do you feel like your right arm is missing?
  20. Would you recommend a polygraph for those scores? The average score per hole was 2.72?
  21. That is strange. It's hard to kick lefty when you are right dominant. Try crossing your arms and see how hard it is to do it the opposite way. e.g. my right hand is on top. It really feels awkward to have the left hand on top.
  22. It's an advantage to be left handed in baseball. You are closer to first base when you bat and pitchers have an advantage when pitching from the set position with a runner on first base. In golf, there seems to be just as many doglegs to the left as to the right. There might be an advantage in putting depending on your eye dominance. You can see the line better without tilting your head.
  23. It was published in Life magazine and I believe it was called pronation. BEN HOGAN'S SECRET: PRONATION PLUS TWO ADJUSTMENTS http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1130032/index.htm
  24. My friend commented to me once that a bad shot or day on the golf course didn't seem to bother me. I said why should it? I am going to eat and sleep the same as the previous day and I might have an extra drink when we get back. So a bad day does have it's advantages.
  25. I am a left handed golfer and batter but right handed in all other tasks. I found this article fascinating and wondered how it would relate to golf. My friend who is a pro claims putting left handed has an advantage. 'What are your thoughts?
