  1. Sorry to go off topic but is Faldo swinging two plane? to the Poster, im 6'5 and i find when i thin it, its because so trying to focus on a good posture and im focsuing too hard, causing tension. When i try swinging like this i end up comming up and out of the correct posture. Might be worth trying to relax a little bit as you could be trying too hard!
  2. It be great if you could get your swing up, to me it sounds like your conflicting 1 plane and two plane together. I know its not much help, but if you get the vid up some one will sort it :)
  3. When i had this problem im either way to flat or, i hang back and flip my hands. Thing is it never felt like i was! I got the club up more, up to the point where it was a sure thing i was going to hit a fade/slice. I worked back from there. Thing was, i was hitting hooks and at worst, the ball was comming backwards they were that bad! With a Fade, you know roughly how the ball was going to go so atleast you can keep it on the fairway by aiming to the right a bit. Glad to say im starting to find the correct plane etc and im keeping most drives on the fairway! Hope you get yours sorted cause i know how frustrating it can be
  4. My thoughts aswell, also done it myself in the past. When it happens to me, on my next short with a short iron i try and focus on my practice swing comming from the inside. Seems to sort it out most of the time
  5. Trouble in the UK with the clocks going back its normally too dark to play 4:30pm. So its either early start in the morning for 9 holes before work. Or, early weekend days! Here in Wales, its wet alot. So 90% of winter will be played wearing wet/wind suit :) and temps around 0°C-8°C / 32F-50F
  6. 110-114 Distance normally around 240-270. Have hit over 300 but thats down to luck and trying to demolish the ball. Currently not striking the ball correctly as i have a low ball flight, once i get that sorted im hoping i can get that 250-270 more to 265-275 Iron Speed 93-95
  7. To be honest mate, after reading that i think you should book 1 or 2 lessons and get a Pro to take a look at you. Your getting conflicting information which is confusing you even more. I dont think i have ever read anything that said you should have a closed face at setup, A) its going to hinder your release and B) its either going to go straight and left, and left and very left.
  8. Nothing better then feeling the ball pounce off the centre of the club and hearing the ball fizzing through the air!
  9. I enjoy being outdoors and when you hit the ball sweet it makes it all worth while. Also, im still improving and i want to keep improving so i keep going back for more :)
  10. http://www.dewstow.com/ "The Park Course has what we believe to be the only Par 6 Hole in play in the U.K.. The 13th Hole (Forestry) can now be played as the existing Par 5 or from the New Tee. A Monster 690 yd Par 6"

I would would say age and he's not practicing as much as he used to. He could be winding down and spending more time with his family.
  12. In all honesty is been great, my first year off proper Golf (Starting playing May 06). In 06 i hardly played, and made 2007 to be the year to get a 10-15 HDCP and 08 is to get to 5HDCP. My ball striking is excellant, and im often asked if im a scratch or low handicap (Untill they see my savaged hook with the driver!) and distance is better then most. Driver is still a big problem for me and its hindering my scores as instead of hitting a nice long driver, im having to settle for 220-240 3wood or 3i. Consistancy is good with the irons, all the odd time a shot goes a bit right or left, but the hooks and slices are pretty much out of my iron play. I can now see to really improve, i have to spend 3 times more practice on putting and the short game, shots inside 120/150. Its all very well me hitting a 230 yard 3 wood, 200 yard 5i and then pitching onto the green and it rolls off, or i leave myself with a 35ft putt. Need to narrow that down and try and get at worst 15ft from the pin
  13. I've been taugh to keep the arm as straight as possible without having tension, bending the left arm can bring inconsistancy. Some times you bend your arm a little, sometimes alot. When you keep it straight it always straight!
  14. I'd say about 330 on a flat course with the wind behind me. Its was one of those grip it and rip swings that just managed to connect perfect
  15. I used a White Hot #5 and i have directed a few others to the white hot series with happy thoughts about them!
  16. I wouldnt worry to much about taking a divot. With myself it came over time. started with my SW, and now goes down to most clubs. Its not a must to take a divot, i used to cut the grass so to speak, and still hit the ball fine. If the ball is going pretty much where you want it, i dont see the need to get focus so much on taking a divot, it will come trust me :)
  17. I play the ball off the right ankle, hands near my zipper. I cock the wrist back ever so slighty and do a putting stroke with the arms locked and just use the shoulders. Finish position

Go Cardiff Devils! Doubt many of you across the pond have heard of them ;) I also watch alot of NHL too, looking forward to when the new season kicks off!
  19. Thanks for the tips, i think i've been trying to over complicate things to make the perfect fade. Few places i have that it said to keep things simple and just aim left with a slighty open stance, or weak grip and swing normal!
  20. Sounds to me like its either a mental issue when you stand over that ball or your not understanding what the instructor is trying to explain and your not feeling anything. I had a small phase where i could not feel what the instructor was trying to teach. It sounds a bit naff but you really do need to feel whats happening in your swing. Now i can feel when i swing over the top, leave the hands open etc
  21. 4Ball, we all chuck in £10 winner takes all My Dad and i, usally the loser pays for the next round
  22. Once or twice currently, spend most actully playing on the course. I tend to hit 150 balls a session. Mainly on practicing different pitching like flop shots etc and shot shaping
  23. I would say putting what you can do when practicing on the Golf course
  24. I think alot of people get mixed up when people think of a Fade, most auto think fade = slice. A slice will lack distance, a draw is normaly prefered from the longer clubs for distance and fade for the mid to low clubs as its lands soft. Although a well struck fade is not too much shorter then a draw, lacking mostly the roll you get with a draw. I like to play a draw on all shots and it works well from a 5i and up. Driver, 3i & 4i tend to be straight or a bit left to right but only slighty, maybe no more then 8ft. When my 3 wood is on song its bang straight, or a very slight draw!
  25. I would say that your ball striking has improved or timing etc. Its happened to me and its a pain... i suppose but in a good way perhaps? After a session of working on contact on the range my distances improved roughly 30-40 yards per club! I was 155 out and i thought "Easy 6i to the green". Took my shot and i went over the green and in the middle of the tree's! My 7i has gone from 150 to 175~180 and can be hit further although anytime i try hitting the ball further it ends up slicing but i wouldnt rule out the fact that from playing quite a bit in a short space of time has improved your game, im a strong beliver that when you reach a certain point that you cant beat playing. I get to the range and try re-working out your distances, i've had to do it BTW, it was'nt like i woke and BAM! all my clubs started going further. Started with the 9 and 8, then the 7, 6, 5. My PW went from 120 to 140, then the 9 went from 130 to 150 etc etc over the course of 2-3 months
