+1 for women's clubs, as long as he either doesn't mind or know. My first set were women's and I had no clue.

That looks awesome! I used to wait on a couple of guys who told me they had played in an outing and a couple holes were played at night. Sounds like a blast to me.

Older pic of my car. Just paid it off a couple months ago!

LED golf balls....who's tried them?
Drewskie replied to Valleygolfer's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
A buddy of mine posted up pictures on his Facebook of a little night tournament they did at a course down here. Looked like a lot of fun being able to hit balls at night. -
That's amazing, I have never heard of that. Where did y'all play?

I was fortunate enough to play twice this week with my dad. We did the same thing y'all did and ditched the scorecard and tried impossible shots and had a really great time.

How do I fix a steep golf swing?
Drewskie replied to johnny_14424's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I would imagine it would. On your backswing, your right arm may "chicken wing" causing a slice. An instructor I saw helped me keep my right arm closer to my body and it helped my slice considerably. You just need to keep the towel from falling. -
I have a pair of Oakley Gascans that I wear everyday. I wear them to the course and the 1st tee, but they get too hot and don't breathe well. I may put them on if we are teeing off into the sun, but other than that they are off. I'd like to find a pair of sport specific ones though.

Not sure exactly how long they are, but my oakley shorts hang pretty far over my knees. I'm only 5'8 though. Maybe they'll fall higher up for you.

Anyone playing the TaylorMade RBZ 3W?
Drewskie replied to cooke119's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I had one go about 325, I must have caught the downhill slope just perfect I guess, because I don't believe I really smashed it that hard. Also, I have no idea how my avatar got to that lol. One day it was blank an.d the next it's been changed. -

300+ with a 3wood is crazy long. I have a buddy with the RBZ driver and I'm with him after most every tee box. He told me one reason the 3wood is so long is that they don't have a set limit to how hot the face is, unlike drivers. Idk hbow true it is but it seemed to make a little sense? -
Purchasing my first 60* Wedge.. Wish Me Luck
Drewskie replied to Goonsidious's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I snagged a 60* from academy for $7.88 a while back just to try it out. I had played one round with a few of my wife's brothers and they all had a much easier time around the green than I did with my GI set. Looking back, I think 60* was a little too high of loft, whenever I would try a small chip it would stop instead of releasing. The good side is that I've learned how to hit a flop shot and I'm pretty comfortable with it. -

The ball flies off the face. I use it off the tee in place of a driver. Most people I play with I am no more than 10 yards behind them on tee shots with it. I really like the white head and the rocketballz name. Might be because I'm younger and enjoy flashy things? I know I was sucked into the marketing gimmicks, but it really does go farther than the other 3woods I tried out. -
I ditched my driver and only hit 3W off the tee. I've been getting much more consistant and it doesn't leave me behind most people with drivers. My brother in law couldn't hit a driver to save his life when we started, he hit 4 or 5 off the tee every time and it ends up right in the middle. while I agree that one needs to learn to hit a driver, I would leave it at home until the lessons.

Shot a stupid 98 today. Out in 49 and back in 49. I had my second ever birdie though! So that's good news. Only lost one ball which is also good news. My driving was pretty off all day until the last couple holes, chipping from around the green was also off. The second hole is a 98 yard par three and the hole was cut right behind a bunker so I bailed out right and ended up needing to chip onto the green. I bladed it way across and ended up hitting a flop shot about 5 ft from the hole on my next shot. I'm a lot more comfortable taking a 60* and flopping it than I am chipping from around the green, which I find very weird.

Fun game! The intro is pretty funny too.

Got my first real birdie today! Almost had one on the hole before, but my putt stopped right on the lip :-(.
-
Way too fast. When I'm by myself I'll take my time for the most part, but a lot of the time at the range I'm with buddies. We will start out slow but it soon turns into a long drive contest lol.

First birdie was about. 2 weeks after I started playing again. My father and I were playing a little par3 course. The only straight shot I had hit all day went to the back of the green and I luckily putted from 20 feet or so. Still waiting on a birdie on a big boy course though.
-
That would be a fun experience. I'd do it if I were you, but I can't hit a driver to save my life.
-
I have 3. A mallet that came with my Tommy Armour set, some old blade style I think "my brother and I" gave to our father for fathers day before I was 10, and a new odyssey my father bought me as a birthday present this year. The odyssey is freaking money so far, I love that thing.

Experience with teaching girlfriends how to golf?
Drewskie replied to CollegeGolfer's topic in Golf Talk
after a 4 hr round turned into a 7 hr day my wife decided she'd like to come and at least ride in the cart with me. Sundays are our only days off together and we need to spend more time together. I play with her brothers, so I hope they don't mind too much. -
Entered, thanks!!
