Driving accuracy and short game. Really need to work on the putting and GIRs.

I do not think she's trying to be like Annika at all. Quite to the contrary she is trying to be the first female player to regularly play on the PGA tour. I think many want her to be like Annika and play on the LPGA tour and win a lot on the LPGA tour. That has never been her stated goal. She has always stated that she wants to play regularly on the PGA tour and be the first female to play in the Masters.

Does screen golf count? You hit real golf balls into a screen and lasers measure ball speed, spin etc. I was playing Lakewood CC in Korea and had around a 130 meter par 3 (around 140 yards). I hit my 7 iron a little fat and thought that I was going into the buker guarding the front of the hole. I cleared the bunker by about 5 meters and it rolled into the hole. As soon as the ball made it to the green I knew it was going in. Finished the round at 94. Had a a couple of blow up holes that really did me in. I really need to keep my ball from going OB and three putting.

She has won $780,233 in her career and has had 4+ top 10 finishes. She missed the cut by one stroke in a PGA tournament meaning that she was better than almost half the field of men (ie. she beat a lot of professional male golfers as a teenage girl). What has she ever whinned about? I think it is others that constantly whine about her lucrative endorsements and her superior marketing that has opened many more opportunities than others.

Who here thinks that the rule should be changed because the penalty does not seem to match the infraction. I think a simple change to rule 6-6 could solve this. Below is the original text: 6-6 b. – Signing and Returning Score Card After completion of the round, the competitor should check his score for each hole and settle any doubtful points with the Committee. He must ensure that the marker or markers have signed the score card, sign the score card himself and return it to the Committee as soon as possible. 3. Returning Score Card Rule 6-6, page 31. (A player is deemed to have returned her score card to the Committee when she leaves the roped area of the scoring tent or leaves the scoring trailer). I think the rule should be changed to indicate that a returned score card should be constructively deemed as signed by the player. Once the player has reviewed the scorecard and returned it, I think that it is an indication that the player believes and is attesting to the fact that everything on the scorecard is accurate and correct. A signature really does not do anything extra in my view.

I feel like my swing is inconsistent..

I agree, I am learning to make batter contact with the ball from chipping and pitching. I basically use the same initial takeaway. -
I feel like my swing is inconsistent..
gbk56 replied to King Cobra II's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
It sounds like we are in the same boat. I am also looking for more consistency. I am finding that it seems like I am at a point where I have to get more comfortable and confident about my swing. What I am doing these days is swinging more for feel. When I am swinging well I make really good contact and really compress the ball. I try to look for check off points when I am swinging well so that when I do get a little off I can self correct. If my practice swing does not feel quite right, I go down my checklist to self diagnose. I am in the beginning stages, but right now I look at my initial setup (ie posture and foot position) and ensure that my take away is on plane. I do this more on feel. I need to feel that I will hit the ball straight. If I do not have that feel during my initial setup I make adjustments unit I get that feel. For instantce one day I was shanking the ball. I took a look at my posture and takeaway and found that my takeaway was too inside and that my weight was too far forward on my toes. I shifted to a more balanced posture and made sure my takeaway was more straight back rather than too far inside. Viola, I was striking the ball very well after those adjustments. Right now this is working for me in getting accuracy and consistency. -
In 2006 that was the rule. In 2007 I agree those are exceptions, but she was injured, exercised bad judgment playing as much as she did and lost some confidence. This year she is beginning to get her game back together. Regardless if they are exceptions or not, I think she has shown that she can compete.

Why does a woman have to win a tournament in order to compete with the men? I am not sure about the rationale. Are you saying Ji Young Oh, last weeks winner, would have a better chance at competeing with the men. Her average driver yardage is around 250 yards. If I had to choose one person to compete with the men it would probably be either Lorena or Wie. I would probably pick Wie because she has shown more of a desire to do it. Frankly I think Annika did it wrong because she truely did it as a side show, one time only against a select field. Wie has shown up at many mens events trying to legitimately compete, not just as a side show. Of course the sponsors love it and it is a good promotion, but I do not think she has ever changed her desire to compete with the men.

She has missed the cut with the men by one stroke, and has had 4 or more top 10 finsihes with the women including a second place finish in the LPGA Championship which she lost to Anika. I think she has proven that she can compete. I think missing the cut by one stroke would tend to say that you are able to compete.

Uh, I think she hurt her wrist after a fall while running. Why should she play womens tours only when she has made it clear that she thinks she can compete with the men? If there are opportunites to realize your dreams, don't you think you should take advantage of those opportunites. Did you hope that Rocky was going to lose or hope that Rudy would not make the Notre Dame football team. I think we applauded those guys for their courage and determination. Wans't it great to see Villanova beat Georgetown, the Giants beat the Patriots, the Jets beat the Colts, USA hockey beat Russia. I look forward to watching the story unfold this week!

Just wondering if you just do not like Camillo or do you have the same disdain for Tiger who wears a tight bright red mock turtle neck without a collar (which seems pretty far from traditional) on Sundays to show off his physique when he knows everyone is watching. For me I like both. I just wished Tiger had a little better style although he finally did get pants that fit him a little better.

If I had the opportunity I would take it!

I do not think that people want to represent other countries necessarily because they think those countries are so great. I think it is because that is where they are from and where their ancestors, family and friends are from. The people simply feel as though they are more closely related to that culture than the US. I think that it is no different than me being proud to be from Philadelphia. It is not because I think it is the greatest city in the world, but it is where I grew up and where all my good friends are from. The city helped make me who I am today whether that be good or bad (probably more of the latter). I would never say I am from Virginia where I used to live and work, or that I am an avid Redskins fan just because I lived in the DC area. I live overseas now in a foreign country now and am not living in a foreign country because it is the greatest country in the world. I just have some interest in learning a new culture. So I do not think someone representing another country should be taken as a slap in the face, but merely a personal perference as to where someone more closely associates themselves.

I think that if you are a citizen of that country you should bee able to represent that country. If you are not a citizen of a country then you should not be able to represent that country.

Who here has more than one swing for a club? I am developing two different swings, but not on purpose. It seems that when I show up for a round or a practice session I seem to adapt mentally and physically to one of two types of swings. One swing is taking the club back slightly inside with a shoulder turn and is very compact. The other swing feels more like taking the club staight back with a shoulder turn which feels more loose and free. Does anyone else out there have two or more swings for a single club? Should I practice both swings or try to get myself one swing.

Chipping consistency is terrible, HELP!
gbk56 replied to CosmosMpower's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I used to be a terribly inconsistant chipper then I changed a few things. Now I am a pretty consistant chipper with almost no thin or fat shots. Here are the things I changed to become better. 1. Keep weight on front foot. 2. Keep ball back in stance. 3. Keep eyes fixed on the back left part of ball. 4. Concentrate on striking the back left part of the ball. When I swing I think of nothing else but striking the back left part of the ball. Now that I consisitently strike the ball well, I just have to get better at reading greens and distance control. It is actually making this part of the game very interesting and much more enjoyble rather than frustrating. -
help get rid of this out-to-in swing path...
gbk56 replied to itzzzberny's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
For me it usually means one of two things. 1) I am not getting enough of a shoulder turn. 2) I am not letting my hands drop (ie they are beocoming too active). -
You've missed the green, what do you chip/pitch with?
gbk56 replied to goblue107501's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Anything inside 80 meters I use a sand wedge. About 1/3 of my range time is devoted to using this club. I want to get so that once I am in the 80 meter range I know the maximum number of strokes I take will be 3. -
When you hit the ball first do you get some sand too? What I am thinking is that if I try to hit the ball with an open sand wedge I will end up hitting the underpart of the ball and take a divot afterwards kicking up some sand. I wish I had somewhere to try this, but the driving ranges around me do not have bunkers with sand. My previous swing was extremenly inside out hitting about an inch behind the ball. It worked to get teh ball out, but I could never get the ball to go a longer distance like 10 or 20 meters. I would just barely get out and onto the green. With my new swing I can hit a nice flop shot and can control the direction and distance pretty well. I just haven't been able to translate this to the sand.

Help others by posting YOUR MAGIC MOVE
gbk56 replied to Stacey_E's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have a swaying problem so I always try to remember that my sholder should only move to rotate and not move laterally (helps me stay centered and balanced). -
I have been having some difficulty with sandshots after changing my swing. I am confused as to whether to try to hit the ball or the sand. I used to hit the sand first but now with my new swing (I concentrate on stricking the back left quadrant of the ball) hitting the sand first is not working and I am wondering if I should try to hit the ball first. On a greenside bunker do you try to hit the ball or the sand and why? On a fairway bunker do you try to hit the ball or the sand and why?

Yes, I workout everyday sun: 2hrs soccer mon: 4X400, stretch, Legs, Chest, Triceps, stretch, abs tue: 6min bike, stretch, Delts, Back, Biceps, stretch, abs wed: 3mile run, stretch, pull ups, max sit-ups in 2 minutes, dips, push ups thu: 6min bike, stretch, Legs, Chest, Triceps, stretch, abs fri: 4X400, stretch, Delts, Back Biceps, stretch, abs sat: 3mile run, pull ups, max situps in 2 minutes, dips, pushups Diet is also important. I eat a high protein moderate carbohydrate diet. I do not think any of this exercise helps my golf game at all. From my experience when I keep my ball in play and my short game is on I play a lot better. In general it seems like CONSISTENCY and ACCURACY are the keys to golf.

90 2 quads 2 birdies 4 doubles 4 bogeys 6 pars If I could only keep my ball in play I could get rid of the quads. Otherwise I had a good day for me.

I believe she has been dominating since last year. There is Lorena and then the rest of the field. She also seems to have great composure and seems to be very gracious.
