  1. i've bought tons of clubs on ebay and never ever ever ever have received a counterfeit. many of them are price around $100 below retail of what i would pay in a store. i will echo what others have said that common sense in the determining factor in getting ripped off. if a deal is too good to be true then it probably is. don't by a brand new Callaway FT-i from Hong Kong for $199 and you'll be ok.
  2. not really sure if anyone has addressed this but... tiger woods was woody's playing partner and he didn't seem to have a problem with the ruling. is it really that hard to believe that the guy tried to slam his putter down, and in a moment of even more embarrassment, couldn't do that right either? i think it's a sad day when everyone is complaining about how bad woody austin's integrity is. nobody knows the guy or what he did or didn't try to do. it's ridiculous to assume that someone would try to cheat with millions of people watching and knowing full and well you have cameras all over you. it just doesn't make sense. maybe he did. i don't know. but my reason and the video clips tell me that at best, all the evidence was inconclusive. anybody who says otherwise is the real liar.
  3. confusious say, "desperate man blame range mats for bad golf swing"
  4. either you bent the face on 7 iron which is a very real possibility or...the yardages were wrong. either case is highly likely. also, did you actually carry the green or did it hit and skip? because a 145 yard 8 iron that lands just short of the green might hit and stop dead but a 155 yard 7 iron that lands just at the back of the green could take one hop and gain momentum as it rolls off the back crown of the green. all very real things to consider. if you're still unsure then test it at the range.
  5. hmmm...it's hard to say without seeing your swing, but one fact about golf that nobody can change is that you have to hit down on the ball to make it go up. if your pro was messing with your swing plane it was probably in an effort to make this happen. if you get too shallow then the only two moves you can reasonably make are two sweep the ball very low and from the inside resulting in a lack of power and spin on your short irons or more likely, it will force you to throw the club out over the top in an effort to clear some space for your arms on the downswing. both of these things are not good. even the guys nowadays that are using a so called one-plane swing do not have overly flat swings...tiger, scott, etc. they also have a great spine angle from bending at the waste. chances are your pro was not lying to you. check and see about getting your swing on tape and then comparing it to some vids on the internet. you might be surprised. good luck with the swing though!
  6. contrary to what some might say, my advice is to get DOWN on that bad boy. even with the long irons and fairway woods, the ball will not go UP if you ain't hitting down on it. you can flip it a little with your wrists, or have a 100% perfectly timed shallow sweeping motion, but the percentage shot is a nice little pop downward into the back of the ball. it's pretty hard to take a divot with a 3 wood (when you hit the ball first) so don't be afraid of the ground.
  7. plus 1000 on the EV Extra Spin. They made that ball when I played in highschool and it was one of my favs. Also, really liked the original Nike Tour Accuracy. My best summer ever--- which included 2 hole in ones---on back to back days (yeah i know it sounds like b.s. but i was in the paper and everything) was spent playing the Nike Tour Accuracy.
  8. you can get mizuno mp-14's that look like new for dirt cheap on eBay. people buy them and can't hit them. most can be had for just a couple hundred bucks. you can't even make a set with decent shafts for that price. good luck.
  9. eh...i tried one about a month ago, because my putting was really in a rut. i HATED the feel of the insert. went with a Ping G5i Craz-E and am very pleased with the results.
  10. hmmm...i would say yes. i know i'm new here and as that goes, internet credibility is crap, however for those that like opinion here it goes... i played ping eye 2's all through highschool and starting college. thought that irons would never get any better. then i took a few 5 years off or so while i was trying to finish school and pay down some bills. so i come back to the game and here i am with a great "feeling" set of ping eye 2 irons. i picked up a MacGregor NVG2 Mid 7 iron at the range and bomb it 12 yards past my ping eye 2 7 iron. i sold the eye 2's on ebay the very next day. now, i must admit that the MacGregor's don't have that sweet feeling like the eye 2's did in the middle of the clubface, but when i'm pulling a 9 iron instead of a 7 iron at 145 yards, that's good enough for me.
