Two for me and both were last year, one was a 154yd 8 iron and the other a 175yd 6 iron, the first I kind of thinned (not pretty) and the second was a sweet strike that never left the pin - what a great feeling!

MULVn8tor, i'm the same as you, I love buying new clubs but like you hit a terrible slice, which is starting to come under control, I'll pass on the best bit of advice i've received on here, save the money you were going to spend on a driver and use it on some lessons, my slice seems to be coming from not enough shoulder turn on the back swing.
-
Well since that Yonex "fitting" I've been to a club fitter here in the Uk (Nick Hibbs Tour X Golf - Warrington) and there is NO WAY i'm swinging 117 or faster! I was put on the monitor and was consistently hitting 101 - 102 which is still pretty decent I guess, though the negative angle of -5 degrees is killing me. After about an hour it was pointed out to me that I need some lessons to help sort my slice, it turns out I dont have enough shoulder turn, so i'm going to keep with the lessons until I can get a repeatable swing - then maybe its time for a new driver, though I feel myself being drawn to the G25 and 913 D2 - must resist! You were all right - stick with the lessons, it's money well spent!

Without wishing to come across as an ass here, but if you really do hit 290 - 300yds consistently what the hell do you need a new driver for?
-
Cheers for that Rick, i'll have a look, i'm going to a range not far from home later today, the teaching pro there is highly regarded apparently, so i'll go and see what he says.

Thanks for the advise fellas, I definately do need to slow it down, its obviously not working, you'd of thought at 44 i'd of learned to wind it in a little! The 121 was me really swinging hard and I doubt thats repeatable nor a base for saying thats my swing speed because it just isn't. I'll find a good teaching pro and get to work on that in to out swing - I have an R9 Supertri 10.5 fitted to a stiff flex Fubuki Alpha, the pro yesterday tried me in a 12 degree with an x-flex shaft and it was still spinning like crazy :-(

I've finally realised the importance of having some lessons, I went to a demonstration day today at my local American Golf here in the UK the only manufacturers were there were Yonex, but they had flight monitors there and a full range of equipment so it was pretty good and they guy certainly knew his stuff. In the end he said I wouldn't try and sell you a club because I just can't fit you because your so inconsistent! Thats fair enough he was straight with me and I appreciate that. This isn't a thread about how quick I swing a golf club, but he and I were amazed by just how fast I was swinging it, I've never actually been on a flight monitor before so it was very interesting to see, first swing 105, then I got it right up there at 117 and the quickest was 121. The problem is I swing out to in and hit huge slices and even when I managed to hit them straight the spin was killing me for distance (220yd carry into a slight head wind with range balls) also I have a negative angle of attack of 6 degrees, he told me that was great for a wedge but pretty disastrous for a driver lol. Anyway it was great fun and very interesting, now to go and find a good teaching Pro!

Cheers Everybody, it would of been good to see it go in yes, hopefully i'll see the next one!

I got my first hole in one the other day, I still cant believe it, 158yd par 3 - 8 iron, I kind of thinned it (not pretty but still a 1 on the card) the ball took off, hit the side of a bunker and then we lost sight of it after that, I walked up and assumed it had run off the back of the green, but I walked to the pin just incase and there sat my little Z Star smiling up at me! :-) What a great feeling.....I want another one now!

I have the Garmin S1 approach, it's a superb tool and really quite accurate, you tend to realise just how much you come to rely upon it the first time you forget to take it out with you! As for "I personally do not understand why people waste their money". Well its their money, I'm not sure how many watches Garmin have sold, but I dare say its more than a few and the price is really quite reasonable. I have managed 36 holes from one charge but as a watch it's suppose to last around three weeks, give it a go, you won't be disappointed,

Golf Pride Decade Multi-Compound Cord Grip
papswing replied to dipgolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've just ordered a set of black/blue multicompounds for my irons and i'm looking forward to fitting them, but for a Driver grip I always use a Gripmaster leather Golf grip, they're outstanding in all weathers and being from the UK we get all weathers most days! -
There are some great courses over here in the UK, but why take a risk getting wet, even our summers can be awful, this year in particular. I went to La Manga in Spain earlier this year, there are three great courses there and the weather is pretty well guaranteed, check out their website or look at some of the videos posted on youtube. Let us know where you end up!

Please let this new driver be a wind up, I know its performance over looks but there's no way one of them is going in my bag, nor the Nike for that matter, it looks as though the Supertri is staying for a while longer. I just wish the manufacturers would give us the option when it comes to colour schemes, plain old black suits me fine but I can appreciate others having different tastes.

Hey guys, I may be going over to The States some time next year and staying with non golfing friends in San Diego, I was wondering if any of you could suggest some good courses for my to play whilst I'm there, i'm only around a 24 handicap so they don't need to be tough and ideally not too expensive! the nearest one to where I'd be staying is Mission Trails. Cheers!

I thought it was a great match, I honestly thought we were going to get humped after the second day and then Ian Pouter steps up, certainly not one of our better players, but he fired the whole team into believing we could win, from our point of view is was a terrific win under very tough conditions, it was a great advert for Golf.

Good Afternoon all from the UK, I'm hoping some of you guys could give me some ideas for a new Shaft for my R9 Supertri, I realise a club fitting is the way to go but I thought i'd ask here first. I have a quick tempo with a very aggressive down swing, but hit the ball really quite low, I can generally get the ball out between 260 - 280 using a 10.5 degree head. I keep going back to my Fujikua Speeder 757 - Stiff Flex, but shes getting on a bit now! I've tried allsorts of Shafts, I currently have an Oban Kiyoshi 04 Stiff flex 75gms but dont really like the feel of it. I also have a Fubuki 63 X5CT in regular tipped 1" thats just awaiting a tip, I bought that just to try out but in standard form it was way too whippy. Heres a few others i've tried! Attas International 6S - beautiful shaft but felt a little boardy. Project X 5.5 - too whippy Diamana Ahina, great shaft but too low launching. Voodoo Shaft - reg - too whippy. Oban Devotion - stiff - boardy. Fujikura fit-on - surprising good Proforce - ok I'm thinking of trying the Diamana Kaili, any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any thoughts....Cheers!

I've got the R9 Supertri and absolutely love it, in fact i've got two with speeder shafts, I saw an 11.5 degree head on ebay for only £40 and snapped it up! Its no fun when you ruin a favourite club, but who doesn't like buying new gear - good luck with the TM
-
Get your Brother to buy you the same club again from ebay! ...Problem solved
-
I bet that hurt! I scored 92 yesterday which equals my best ever, BUT I had an air shot and had to count it lol

Gheers guys, i'll have another crack at it in the morning!
