  1. Bleacher Report did an article naming the 5 players they believe to have the best shot: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/916801-pga-tour-5-players-with-the-best-shot-at-winning-first-major-in-2012
  2. There are a lot of great players out there with no majors, but who do think is most likely to get the proverbial monkey off their back in 2012. In my mind the answer has to be Luke Donald, just super consistent and composed. I think he is going to get one of the big ones next year
  3. I like to chip from the carpet up onto the sofa... the aim is to land the ball on the seat of the sofa. If you hit it a bit hard it will hit the back rest and not hard enough and it will not make it up. help you to work on touch but not keeping you swing smooth as its not a full swing. kinda fun though!
  4. That is a very good idea. Why not try and build in some national pride into the competition. The average olympic fan will be more likely to root for a national team than an individual.
  5. what a great video!! I gew up playing in Northern England. I lived just down the road from Royal Lytham (British Open course) so have played hard courses in crazy winds. The best and simplest solutions are the obvious ones. try and keep the ball low into a head wind, and put the up high with a tail wind. Dont try and fight it (hitting a cut into a cross wind to try and "counter" it) just aim into it and let the wind do it thing. I wonder when someone will being out an Anemometer app? (wind speed meter)
  6. shot a 36 at a 9-holer near my house. Nice little track, and very easy so good for the confidence.
  7. Drive for show, putt for dough!! It is rare for a golfer to swing up near 100% off every tee. You swing will gradually get faster as the round progresses, so you shouldn't start off fast. Your "slower" swing speed should be a good start-of-round speed as you seem to be in control and hitting out of the middle of the face. There is nothing wrong with letting rip occasionally on a hole where you have a wider fairway. Try not to think of it as an average driving distance over the round, way each shot individually. On the holes with more room go for it and then you will build your confidence with the long ball and feel more confident on tighter holes. Nobody hits the same shot off every tee.
  8. I try and not play courses where its going to be excessively slow. I live in LA so there are courses that I just flat out avoid. Recently I played a 6 hour round with an hour and a half in traffic each way. I love golf but that is not worth it for me. I still play regularly but am very conscious about the time and course I play. I used to just take up every offer of a round but I definitely don't anymore. When the round is slow I am not relaxing as I am thinking about other stuff. I find myself in my cart, on my iPhone answering emails and focusing on other things just waiting for the tee to free up. Slow play in all forms is bad etiquette.
  9. Sometimes when I am faced with a decision like that I try and think what is a "bad outcome of a good shot?" If you could hit a good shot and still be in trouble its not worth it, particularly that early in the round. Remember don't think great shot, just a good one. If you choices are either hit a great shot or be OB or behind a tree then you definitely not risk it. Take the easy GIR when you can.
  10. Having played golf for over 20 years now I have never heard of this happening before. If I had missed my tee time I would never think to just walk up to another group, drop a ball and start playing. In my mind if you miss a tee time you try and get on another one and if that isn't possible then you don't play that day. I dont know exactly what I would have done but I think the best option would be to ask him if he was told to specifically join your group, and if not then tell him that you are uncomfortable playing in a 5-ball as you dont want to upset the course officials and the other golfers by being slow.
