  1. "Square" is considered parallel with your left forearm, closed is the face is facing the sky, and open is if the toe is pointing down. I wouldn't recommend you "try to open" your face in the backswing, if it's closed at the top, your grip is probably too strong, too open your grip is too weak.
  2. I did think it was a little weird a New Yorker would be rooting for the Celtics. I can't believe you're even on their side! I can't wait for tomorrow, it'll show which one of us needs to stop talking And now I have a reason to root for the Lakers hahaha.
  3. I don't have a favorite basketball team, so I have no bias but it seems you are a Boston fan so I don't think this will ammount to anything. First, the C's and Lakers games in the regular season are pre- Pau Gasol. So yes, they mean absolutely nothing. I thought you would recognize this, but Boston fans always forget these things (kidding) And I don't know how you can argue that the is not East is much much much much weaker than the West. I'd like to see you try. Hmm, in the east the Hawks get 8th seed, while Golden State doesn't make the playoffs in the West. Lol... Yes the East has always had it easier. And finally, yes the Pistons never live up to what they're capable of. Rasheed Wallace could be one of the best if not the best player in the NBA if he wanted to but along with the rest of Detroit, they really don't show that they care. "team that dominated the Eastern Conference Finals is playing for the 'chip." Again, your fanhoods getting in the way. Dominated is what the Lakers did in this post season. Please explain how having to go 7 games with the Atlanta Hawks (37-45) is "dominating". Once again, I am not rooting for either team, I want a close and exciting finals. I'm just saying by the way the C's have carried themselves throughout the post season, they certainly do not look dominant and look like they couldn't take one game from the Lakers. Best of luck to the C's, I really don't care who wins but may the better team win.
  4. Nickent 3DX DC w/ Proforce V2
  5. You never hit down on a driver. You always catch it on the upswing. with 10 degrees of loft, if you hit down on it that ball aint goin' nowhere.
  6. Americans.
  7. The i Tour is being used by Phil and others but is still not out yet. That will be much closer to the ProV1, is the ix just like the ProV1x though?
  8. I think he will, Big Brown is a monster. Isn't his main competition that Japanese horse coming out? I guess we'll see, going to be exciting.
  9. mutadayen, I was not saying yours or anyones prediction is wrong (how can it be?) I was talking about the people saying The Celtics have a clear edge over the Lakers. I think you even know why the Celtics beating the Lakers twice does not mean anything and is just a silly argument, so I won't explain. However, your entire argument is based on the regular season for the East . How about we look at the post season stats? C's: 12-8. Lakers: 12-3. Celtics had to go 7 games with the Hawks and Cleveland, both bad teams. Lakers swept Denver, took on one of the toughest teams in the NBA, the Jazz and just destroyed the defending champs the Spurs... So explain how the Celtics have been great? Also, Doc Rivers is going to get out coached so bad it's not even funny. I really hope it turns into a great series but I see this being a repeat of last year. The West just completely owning the East. I think the media is just trying to tell us this is going to be a great rematch, the history etc. when it is not. Best of luck to the C's, prove me wrong. Also, I also mentioned how the Pistons win if they want to. Rasheed Wallace having more fouls than points proves how the Pistons win is not that great for the Celtics.
  10. Sorry, if you think the Celtics have the edge, I don't know what basketball you have been watching. The Celtics are not that great and if the Pistons actually wanted to play for once they could've been in the finals. It's probably going to be Lakers in five but I'll call the sweep. Either way, the finals end in LA (I think people forget basketball does 2-3-2).
  11. For the backswing, feel your left shoulder turning the club back, nothing else. Once your left shoulder is right in front of your chin at 90 degrees, your backswing is done. On your downswing, your still throwing your arms. Tsk tsk tsk. Have your right knee move towards the ball to turn your hips. Your knees should touch well before impact, turning your shoulders and club into the impact position. This will make you a) hit the ball much longer. b) be much more consistent. c) Your shots will be much much much straighter and on target. What I think is good: Your waggling, but you're not doing it correctly! Set up and then waggle! You should not have your whole body waggling along with you! Also, you still have a nice full shoulder turn, just watch that your left shoulder does not go past 90 degrees. It also looks like you have a nice backswing with torque built up, but you waste it all by throwing your arms at the ball instead of turning your hips, which will then turn your shoulders releasing all that built up energy into a great swing. Best of luck
  12. Sorry to tell you, but the ap1's have a ton of offset to them, compare them to the Cleveland CG Golds . Anyways, the ap1's are fine clubs, wish I could get some.
  13. PGA's value guide is done by the averages through ebay. So, the average sale price on ebay is $46, not necessarily overall average. Also, they don't take into consideration the shape the clubs are in (although they do have the high and low prices, which basically does show the "like new" clubs being in the highs, and the beat up clubs being in the lows).
  14. Great post Avid, thank you. As of now I'll probably stick to the "Elkington" grip as I'm really liking it so far but I'll be sure to experiment with the "Faldo" grip as well. I posted this because I had never heard of another grip other than the "Hogan" one, so I thought it was unusual and could be a bad choice for me in the long run. It's always good to know tour players are doing the same as you.
  15. Hi. I've been working on my swing for the last few months a lot and have been reading a lot of different books. Anyways, as soon as I read Hogan's Five Fundamentals I have stuck with his grip the whole time, until now. After reading another book, the author states that Hogan's right hand grip (no he does not call him out ) is too strong for right handed players. That for you to feel most confortable you grab something with your stronger hand in the stronger way; at the base on your fingers. This is what Hogan taught. Could he be right? Hogan was a left handed but golfed right handed. This means to make his stronger hand (left) weaker, he would need to take a stronger grip in his right hand to make his grip neutral. What is stated to be the correct way is to have the shaft laying in the middle joints of your right hand. Here's a couple of pictures. Hogan: "Correct Grip": Any comments? Am I just a little slow and mis-read? Apparently, taking the weaker grip in your right hand will feel uncomfortable (because you are not holding it like you normally would) but you get used to it, and it actually feels more solid than my grip before. It feels like the club is now an extension of my hands, I never really understood how that felt until now. Anyways, just wondering if this is how some of you grip the club, or if Hogan is the standard? I think everyone should experiment with it and see what they think. -Thanks
  16. Twice a week sounds like a lot. I would spread your lessons out more to one lesson week, maybe even every other week. That way you are not making so many drastic changes from day to day and instead can ingrain what is taught before your next lesson. Also, make sure your instructor tells you why you are changing your swing. If he makes adjustments to your stance, have him tell you why this is better than what you were doing and how it will help in the long run. And finally, stick with it. At your level I'm sure you when you swing well and when you don't. Maybe your best swing of your round produced a lousy shot but tell yourself that you made a good swing and to stick with it. Best of luck.
  17. Check the swingweight on both irons and see what you like. Generally, all irons are about D2s but you can ask for what you want. My i5s are D0s and I heard some Ping irons go as low as C9 and such.
  18. Sigh... Let's end this already, ProV1 --> TM TP Red --> Callaway Tour i ---> Bridgestone B330-S ProV1x --> TM TP Black --> Callaway Tour ix --> Bridgestone B330 It's over!
  19. I'm sure people will buy it. And it's not like it's new. http://scratchgolf.com/
  20. Weight distribution should be 60/40 for the right side. You're probably set up okay.
  21. Every golfer thinks he's a qualified teaching professional. That guy does not know what he is talking about. Most of your shots should have the ball positioned where your left ear is.
  22. I just use print screen and paste it into paint, then save and upload it to imageshack, takes a minute Looking at your stance, you should try taking more of a "ready" position. Here, look at Tiger's swing in slow mo and see if you can find the differences. I don't know how to make it show in the forums.
  23. Ringer, the guy who did youtube videos and posted here, worked at a small, cheap nine hole golf course. I've practiced there because they have grass. So I guess not all of those cheap range instructors are bad. But then again when I was there and some lady was getting a lesson, this other instructor sounded like he had no idea what he was talking about and kept telling her to swing her arms.... So it depends, before you start taking lessons definitely meet your instructor and have a conversation.
  24. Your stance looks good but a frontal shot would help more at that. If anything I would suggest a little more knee bend. I'll try to help with what I see. From what we see here, your club is pointing to the right of your target. It should be parallel to your target line. Look how steep you're coming down! Try to feel your right elbow drop into your side. Also, don't come down with your arms, instead just feel your body turn the club for you. Another thing to look at (I think from the second pic you can see) you lose your entire posture in your swing. You get very tall in your backswing (very common) and it looks like you just stay tall. I don't know a tip I can give, try to have someone watch you and focus on staying in your same posture throughout the entire swing. Hopefully someone else can come and give you more pointers, best of luck! -I just watched again, and you do keep your posture in your backswing. But let us look at the moment of impact. We do see you are standing taller. It could be a "fear" on hitting the ground so you accidently rise and you swing. Try to stay down in your posture during your downswing, you will become much more consistent. Also, it looks like at impact you still have some extra weight still on your right side. Make sure you transfer your weight before your downswing starts, this also should bring your steep downswing flatter.
