  2. I wasn’t really sure where to post this but I have been playing a lot lately and shooting mainly high seventies to low eighties and playing with some better players. I sometimes remember to use the GolfLogix app, and I’ve put a few scores in there and it’s telling me my handicap is a 2.8. I don’t understand though. I’ve never shot low seventies, so how can shooting around 80 equate to a 2.8 handicap? I do play well, and I often play from either the back tees or one up from there, between the tips and the white tees, and I am decent I guess. I hit fairways, I drive 270-300 depending on the course and rollout, and I get up and down frequently. My score gets screwed by a random double bogey, or a couple of bogey three putts. So I’m just wondering if I’m actually a 2.8 or if I’m more like a 9-10. Stupid questions I’m sure, but this app confuses me.
  3. Just curious, do you work for Hilton hotels inc?
  4. I was B- Fit for Bridgestone B330 RX golf balls! Tiger Woods- (-9) Rory Mcilroy- (-11) Rickie Fowler- (-10)
  5. Thank you for the nice review of the stores. Our Edwin watts is good, I mean it's a nice store and the people are friendly but I've found most of their prices to be higher than other places around Columbia. I do like that most of their staff are well versed in golf and actually know enough to help you out with equipment selection. Dicks is a joke. Our pga pro is only there on Tuesdays and on the other days its high school kids who know nothing about golf. I'm excited to go to golfsmith tomorrow and see what it's all about and hopefully hit some demo clubs in their simulator. Thanks again
  6. I live in Columbia South Carolina and we have a Golfsmith opening tomorrow and I was just wondering what others experiences have been like at these stores. We only have a Dicks, which has no simulator or launch monitor, and we have Edwin watts, but their prices are really high. Can you go to Golfsmith and use their simulators, or do they charge you to use them? I would probably pay if I could rent one by the hour just to play around with my clubs for the feedback but I just don't know how it works there. Also they're having a 10k Hole in One contest tomorrow morning for the grand opening so wish me luck haha
  7. That actually makes a lot of sense. Thank you
  8. It's not really a fascination with the distances as much as its a fascination with why the distances changed. I'm interested in the reasons why. I would much rather hit my irons straight and consistent than long but I don't understand why as my swing gets better my distances get lower.
  9. So basically I used to be able to hit my clubs like 10-15 yards longer than I can now, for every club. My pitching wedge would always be 150 yards and now it's like 135. Granted I'm more accurate now, but I was wondering if as my swing gets better and more consistent, could my irons become a detriment to my game? I use callaway x 20's with a steel uniflex shaft. Do I need a stiffer shaft? Is there ever a time when "game improvement" irons have reached their maximum potential and it's time to get more of a "players" iron? Thanks y'all I'm just confused and want to get better.
  10. Keegan Bradley hands down is the most aggravating golfer on your. He walks like he has hemorrhoids and his whole pre shot routine literally pisses me off. Seriously everything he does bothers me and at the PGA last year he was such a Yankee jerk to everybody it made me despise him even more.
  11. True. Ok bad idea I get it
  12. I get what you're saying but for a you get guy like myself in college, if I get birthday money or something and want to play a really nice golf course, just because I can't pay the 50k initiation doesn't mean I can't pay 200 or something to play with a member.
  13. ok so tell me if you think this is a bad or good idea for a business: a sort of golf course member/guest matching site where, if a person really wants to play a course but they aren't able to afford the membership, members who aren't opposed to having a random guest come play with them can arrange for the person to play a round with them, for a fee. Like they pay the guest rate, plus pay the member for the opportunity to play. I feel like this is a good idea. My roommate is from greenville sc and his family lives in Thornblade, a really nice golf neighborhood and home to the Haas family, but my roommates family arent members of the club so he cant even play the course. i just feel like there would be a nice person who would enjoy the company during a round of golf. so let me know what you think about my idea, and if you live in Thornblade, lets play golf haha or Forest Lake club....
  14. I just want it to be more realistic somehow. I don't really know but there's something about the newer TW games that are just too futuristic or something. I just feel like they don't spend time and effort adding cool stuff to these games because the market is probably very small. I would bet TW is the least-grossing sports game they sell. They're too busy making madden and FIFA and NHL good, which is fine because I play those too but I love golf more than anything and it sucks to not be able to enjoy the video game version.
  15. Dude this guy is something else. He is SO cocky it blows my mind. And honestly, every time he tells Oprah something isn't true, or denies something, I can't help but think he's still lying. I couldn't give a crap about cycling, but he's just a liar and that bothers me. He ruined people's lives because he was too prideful to get over his own ego. He's such a loser. I can't believe I DVR'd and sat through his bs. Oh and I feel like Lance is a thousand times the scumbag everybody portrayed Tiger to be. Tiger made mistakes in his personal life that really only affected himself and his wife. Lance lied to the whole world.
  16. I'm a long time player of the Tiger video game series but the last few years have really sucked in my opinion. Adding Augusta national was cool, but the game is so repetitive and boring its not even fun. I shouldn't be able to shoot 58 in the first round with my brand new amateur created golfer. I'm just wondering if anybody shares my opinion of the games being pretty boring nowadays and if there are any ideas as to how to make it more enjoyable. The one idea I have is a "create a course" feature where you can build a course from the ground up and design every hole. I want to say I remember Tiger Woods 2002 or something having the "tiger proofing" mode where you could create a course but I haven't seen it since then. I just think it would be really fun to design a course and play it or to create a replica of your favorite home course and play it.
  17. Dude that article was depressing haha
  18. This is the answer I was looking for. The guy at the store made it sound like his son was such a beast he just can't use graphite because he creates too much torque during the transition. I knew he was full of crap
  19. I have a friend that broke his 3 wood by hitting the ball off of the hosel but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about a shaft snapping at the split second during the transition between the backswing and downswing because of too much torque created during that transition
  20. Ok so I was in Edwin Watts the other day and some dad was talking to another dad and he said something along the lines of "my son is a beast and the first day he got the rocketballz irons he broke the shaft swinging the club" Can this happen???? Can somebody actually break a club swinging?
  21. Jeez apparently "I can't resist this sort of thing" translates to "I can't resist slamming a kid with a dream because I'm an old 2 handicap that never won my club championship" Instead of being "grumpy" why not encourage people chasing a dream? Who are you to tell somebody you've never met whether they can or can't go pro in golf? Are you the omnipotent golf god who decides everybody's golf fate? It bothers me because with people like you with your negativity bring down the glass-half-full people in the world who believe with hard work, dedication and persistence, anything can be achieved. I'm just saying, try to be supportive because it sucks when you lay your dreams out to somebody and they just scoff immediately. Wayne Gretzky said "you make 0% of the shots you never take"
  22. Haha I live in Columbia SC where DJ is from and I work with a guy that went to high school with him and he said he didn't smoke in high school but I'm sure when he got to Coastal Carolina he started. If not, he has stronger will power than I do.
  23. Besides the wind moving the ball on the green, why can't they just play and shoot high scores? It would be refreshing to see Ian poulter shoot 126.
  24. But what if it's not tested for and a player tokes up in his car before the round or even has THC infused foods on the course? They make granola bars and cookies nowadays with THC in them. All I'm wondering is, do they include THC in their drug testing, and if not, how many players might actually smoke or consume THC during rounds today? And when you say "jeopardizing millions of dollars" are they jeopardizing because weed is illegal or because in your opinion it's more of a performance inhibitor rather than an enhancer? Because when I play and I start getting the yips or getting frustrated, I swear it calms me down like cigarettes do for my friends.
  25. I agree with you completely, especially the cigarette comment. And I'm sure there's a ton of very intelligent professionals in other non-athletic careers that smoke marijuana. I only started this thread because of what I read about the players in the port-o-johns. And I go to university of South Carolina and a few years ago after the Beijing Olympics, Michael phelps got photographed here in Columbia smoking from a bong. And he has a million gold medals!!!
