When did you play on the Detroit tour? I have been on the tour for 2 years now and love it. I went down to Nationals this past October and it was a blast. Looking forward to year already.

Has anyone used one of these? http://www.birdieball.com/scripts/pr...?idproduct=270 I am looking for a nice, but not too expensive, putting green to put in my basement. I couldn't find many reviews on this product, so was hoping someone actually has one or putted on one?

I read Rotella's "Golf is not a game of Perfect" this past week and was able to use some of his suggestions on the course on Tuesday. I have always been a pretty positive player, but Rotella definetly gives more insight on things. For example, I never really picked out a specific targert and didn't have a sound routine. I am working on that now. Also his insight on trying to hole out chips and pitches has helped me so far. Not saying it will always work, but I used his tips on a 50 yard pitch shot and almost holed it out. It was the third hole of my round and the ball hit the bottom of the flagstick. I just sat there and laughed for a minute. I am definetly going to buy his other books and add them to my collection.

I believe it is $175 to play during the summer. There was a labor day special and we played it for $110. I also played it in the fall, where they drop their rates to $75. I would suggest playing it on a labor day special type of rate because it was somewhat different. In October, it gets pretty chilly and this past weekend was sunny and 75 degrees. Also the greens are much faster during the summer. I had 42 putts and I ended up shooting an 85. Most putts I had in a while, I usually have around 31-35 putts a round.

The course is Arcadia Bluffs in Arcadia, Michigan. The course is unreal!! It is ranked top 10 public courses in the US. Ended up shooting an 85 with 42 freaking putts!! The greens are huge and really fast.

Sorry guys, the link didn't work. I will figure it out and post it.

Please critique my swing and let me know if you see something I could work on. I tend to fade the ball a little, but sometimes over swing and pull it or hook it. Sometimes I can get a nice draw. This ball in the video went pretty straight with a little push, but very little push. Thanks!

I play on this tour in Michigan. It was $90 to get your tour card and the tournaments cost between $75-$100, depending on the course. The courses are some of the best in the area, so well worth it. There is a Championship flight, A flight, B flight, C flight, and D flight. Based on your handicap is what flight you get into. Each flight winner gets a trophy and about $150 gift card, depending on how many people join the tournament. They also pay out in a gift card for the 2nd and 3rd place as well. You can also pay to get into greenies and skins if you want. I played last year and am playing again this year and I love it. Here is the site if you want to check it out. http://www.miagt.com/

"Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" by Ben Hogan
harrinjj replied to iacas's topic in Reading Room
I just wanted to give a quick review on this book. I bought it a week ago and took my time and got through the first two chaptors (grip and posture). The grip part I was basically doing, just a little modification. The posture however I changed a few things that I wasn't doing. I went to the range today and practiced and let me tell you, I was hitting the ball with great contact, probably the best I have in a while. I consider myself a pretty good ball striker already, but I believe just reading the second chaptor has already improved my ball striking. Maybe it was just a good day, but I am a believer in this book already and looking forward to the next chaptors. -
I'm actually going to get fitted this Saturday. Should I have some clubs I want in mind or do I just hit and he will let me know what manufacture best fits my swing? I do want the mizuno's based on what I have heard about them. I demoed them and like them, but didn't try many others out. The club fitter is fitting me for irons and a driver, so it will take 2 hours approx. What should I be expecting?

I was just actually down in fort myers during Christmas and played a few courses. The best one I played was The Plantation. The greens were in great condition and the fairways as well. They have a different kind of grass there, can't think of it right now. But the best value I must say was a newer course called River Hall. If you find a golf guide, which are usually at the course, there is a coupon in there. I ended up playing this course for $25 with cart. The course was in great condition!! I live in Michigan and that course here would be a $60-$70 course. Check it out, I am sure you will like it.

We also do a golf weekend every year here in Michigan. We usually go over to Battle Creek and stay at Yarrow. The rooms you stay in are right over the first hole, which is pretty sweet. I would recommend playing Yarrow for sure. The best course I have played though has to be Arcadia Bluffs. This coures was absolutley amazing!!! Another course I didn't see mentioned was The Grande. This course is in Jackson and is in my opinion one of the best in Lower Michigan.

I am heading to Fort Myers in a couple of weeks and plan on playing a few courses. Does anyone know of some great courses to play that won't cost a fortune?
-
I live in Roseville. There are simulators at the Michigan State Fair called Next Shot Golf Center. Me and a few buddies are going there tomorrow to play a round. I guess I can ask the operator there tomorrow.
-
Does anybody know the accuracy of the golf simulators? There is a place by my house that lets you go and hit balls and actually play PGA courses. I am more intersted in going up there every so often and using the simulator range. It tells you the distance of every shot. I figured this would be good to get a distance for my clubs. Would this be pretty accurate?

I was hitting the ball pretty well as of late....until last weekend. I started pulling the ball on every club. I just thought it was that day, but I went to the range today and the same thing was happening. I tried some different things and some would pull and others would fade, sometimes a nasty slice. Can anyone help? What type of drills can help

going to golfTech tomorrow to get my swing analyzed
harrinjj replied to BigDaddy_Sean's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Who was your instructor? I went to the Soutfield location back in April and thought it was a great visit. The instructor did the same thing he did for you and gave me some tips that I worked on. I had a terrible posture and I have been working on it all summer and so far things have been great. -
I believe I am doing the same thing right now and can't seem to shake it. My thought was the same as yours, I turn my shoulders towards the target before the rest of my body. I have been fighting a major slice I haven't had in years. Any suggestions on how you stopped this?

Dude, those are some cool pictures. Keep them coming if you have more. How did you get that overhead shot?

GolfTec Golf Lessons - Feedback, Discussion
harrinjj replied to chauvotsm's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I took a 10 minute lesson with them and they helped me with my posture, which was terrible. I am probably going to be taking another lesson with them in the near future. -
Arcadia Bluffs... anyone been? (#10 public) in US.
harrinjj replied to Big_M's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I really haven't played any big name courses other than Arcadia, but I have played very good ones in Michigan. Some that come to mind is The Red Hawk, The Grande, The Dream, The Nightmare, Hawk's Eye (Tom Izzo has his annual outing there, The Chief, and Yarrow. The courses I named are all really great courses, but Arcadia blows all of them out of the water. The time we went to Arcadia, they didn't have caddies available. We ended up just riding a cart. Looking forward in going again sometime in the near future. -
How many of you guys keep and update a golf journal? I am thinking of buying one and just want to know what other peoples opinions on them? Also, what golf journal is the best one to get?

I played it last October and it was amazing!! I waited for the fall rates ($75) and it was totally worth it. We ended up catching a nice day, so that was just a bonus. I recommend those who have a chance to play it to play it. -
I have the Footjoy Contour series as well. I just bought them and they feel great right from the moment I put them on...no breaking in. I tried on all kinds and like these the best. I bought a pair of cheap Footjoys 5 years ago and I finally had to get a new pair this year. I loved them, so I will never buy anything different again.
