Looks like the cart button issue is fixed, sorry for any troubles. Now for a custom tag I did for a customer today. I really like this one. And a video of it being cut. -

I have no idea why but if you use golftags.net the payment buttons take you to paypal and adds it to the cart but it is a blank page and the transaction is not completed. If you use www.cnceffects.com and go to the bag tags page the buttons work fine for me. It is all the same page except the .net domain is redirected to www.cnceffects.com. I think I will redirect the .net to the main page of cnceffects instead of the actual bag tags page and see if that makes a difference. -

You can do anodizing in a home workshop but I have never tried it. Some of the chemicals are nasty but I plan on setting a space to try it out some time soon. -

So I was in the shop today and while looking in the scrap bin of aluminum I found some tags I had tossed away because of blemishes in the finish. I decided to try and give this one an antique look so I sprayed antique gold in the center and after it dried I lightly sanded it and gave it a finish spray with satin clear. The only trouble is the sand gets filled in with paint... I could try and go back and add a bit of white in the sand markings. -
Bag tags and ball markers are available at: http://www.cnceffects.com/index.php/golf-tags or simply golftags.net.

First "real" set of clubs for my 12 year old son
kregan replied to ScottL's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I found a nice junior set made by LaJolla on ebay for about 40.00. I cut them down for my 8 year old and he loves them. The swing weight is a little high but not an issue for him. For a Driver and 5 wood we found a .99 cent Callaway Big Bertha driver and a $5.00 5 wood in the used bin at the golf shop... a 2.00 grip and he has a nice driver and 5 wood for about 15.00 total. His putter is an old Ping my father left behind when he passed away... It was to light for me and thought he, dad, would have loved to see my son sinking putts with it! We cut it down and he loves it! -

Thank you Erik, I was looking at some sheets of Nickel Silver today and I may order one to see what that would look like. The material is $57.00 for 12"x12"x.096" -
I like my old 2005 LT2's. About 150 on ebay all day long. A few weeks ago I purchased a second set with Xstiff shafts just to see how they worked compaired to the set I had with stiff shafts. I just cant see spending 600 - 800 on new irons.

Quick update, I have put the TST tags on sale for 33.99 and I added the TST ball markers to the site. Over the past several weeks I have had more then a hand full of people ask for custom tags only to vanish after I had spent hours designing, program and simulating the custom tag for them. This isn't a quick or simple task so from this point forward a deposit of $35.00 will be required for the artwork and design of custom tags. It's not how I wanted to do it, I wanted to provide the service and then get paid but that didn't work out. -
Driver woes keeping me from enjoying golf
kregan replied to mosnas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I remember the show "playing lessons with the pro's". Each time a bad slicer that aimed way left was on the show the pro would bring him back in line and it seemed to help. I had a really bad slice myself and several things help reduce it over time. 1) While hunting for a Pro launch shaft I ran across a neutral face driver with the shaft I wanted. I purchased the driver and decided to hit it before pulling the shaft. I thought the neutral face would make my slice worse but the opposite happened. My slice was reduced by half. Later I noticed the driver was a 1.5" shorter. 2) Ball position closer to my arm pit instead of my left foot reduced the slice further, now closer to a fade. 3) Tee height, a little lower and it straightened out even more. I am not sure why any of this helped but over time my slice has been reduced to small fade. If I try to draw the ball I hook the hell out of it! LOL -

With that out of the way I would suggest that guys not be affraid to experiment with clubs. We are talking about a 4 buck (cost of a cheap grip) modification that has no lasting affect on the driver. What can it hurt? If it doesn't work put the original grip back on. -

He didn't say grip down below the standard grip... He said take the grip off, then install a grip that has had the butt end removed 4" further down the stock length shaft and try it out. If it works for him he can then have the shaft of the driver cut down and have a new grip installed. It is simply a way to try shorter clubs without cutting the shaft first. -
Swing weight scale idea - will it work?
kregan replied to kregan's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Out of all my clubs 3 are out of spec. 3 wood 5 wood 2-pw 52, 56, 60 degree wedges 52 degree wedge is 1 once light ! 60 degree is 1 once heavy 6 iron is .4 once light I fixed the 60 with a little tour grind! :-) -
Swing weight scale idea - will it work?
kregan replied to kregan's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Way to simple Jon ! LOL Actually The main reason for the rocking arm and fixed fulcrum point was to eliminate mistakes in case the fulcrum moves on the scale. With this setup I can quickly switch out clubs and not fiddle around. I had the 1/4" shaft and bearing in my junk box. Rocking arm, base, fulcrum point made from PVC trim boards. So now how do I convert 14.4 oz to a swing weight? I understand I don't need to know the swing weight but it would be nice. -
Hi Guys, What do you think of this setup to use a digital postal scale for swing weight. Is there a chart available that would convert grams or oz. from this kind of setup setup to swing weights?

I was begging! The pause before the ball dropped was classic! He was hitting a little 1wood drive/3wood that came with a set. The way he traced his line with his finger just before the putt was fun to watch in the video, I didn't notice at the time. It was not his first par but his first par over water and from the white tee's. For his first par I made him this.
-
He loves to play. His best score is 104 at Bowie Golf course from the red tee's. Every shot, every putt !!

We visited Golf Smith for the first time today and they let Collin hit a kids driver in the simulator. We didn't have his clubs with use so they taped up a jr. driver for us. Everyone was very nice!

Fitting numbers - can you explain them to me?
kregan posted a topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
After years of playing I finally had a fitting with my instructor from years ago. This was a fitting at the range with ball striking involved. He watched the flight of the balls, measured my hands, and wrist height, and we did impact tape on a lie board with my current irons TM LT 2005's. From the fitting carts he had me try Ping i20's I think, Jpx-800, and a Titleist iron of some sort. Hit the Pings horrid Hit the Jpx800 pretty well but not as far as nice as the LT's Titleist, not much better then the Ping's We both agreed that the LT iron fit great and saw no advantage in new irons. So for my own curiosity can you explain what the tempo, toe down, kick angle and release factor numbers mean? ------------------------------------------------ 6 iron numbers: Clubs head speed:90 Tempo:6 Toe down:5 Kick angle:3 Release factor:4 Your club length should stay the same but perhaps soft stepping the X100 shafts will improve the feel and playability of the irons. (Try a Dynamic Gold SL or Dynalite Gold SL in the 2 iron). Your clubs are 2 degrees upright, which works fine for you. Since you hit a 5 wood so well. I don't think you need a 2 hybrid. Maybe a 3 hybrid if your not too consistent with the 3 iron. -------------------------------------------------
