I normally play at the local country club here, its semi private, but its very, very busy. The course stays maintained alright, but it can only be so nice with the number of rounds it receives everyday. I also play with a buddy of mine occasionally who lives on a private course, big gated community with the pool, grill, great course designed by pete dye jr., etc. The condition of that course is fantastic, and its never terribly crowded. It was a U.S. open qualifying site for the 08 Open, and the layout is wonderful, , nothing like my local course. The people are equally nice at both, but its a much more close knit atmosphere at the private club, everyone practically knows everyone, and if I had the money, I'd much rather be a member there simply for the course quality and pace of play. I wouldn't mind paying extra money for that, and also for having a tight group of friends always close by. And as for the cargo shorts, not at a private course. Muni i'd expect, but at a private course dress decent, it shows respect to the game and the people around.

Without a doubt, and i'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, the best long iron shot i've ever seen is tiger's 3 iron at the 02 pga. I mean over 200, downhill lie in the bunker, over and around trees, a lip to contend with in front of him, and it lands softly to twelve feet. Even Ernie Els who was in the group with tiger said, "thats the best golf shot i've ever seen".

Yeah you're right, I am swaying a good bit, never really noticed that till now..... could that lead to losing some shots right? I don't miss bad right, but it definitely happens a lot

I didn't read the instructions on posting my swing videos the first time, so here we go again :) I put two links below, the first is dtl, the second is face on, both with a five iron. I'm missing right, either a push or a push fade, any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated :) And I hit the first one fat, yes i know.

I had a cleveland launcher comp 3 wood for a while, and I was out on the range hitting it when the shaft snaps right at the hosel, head flys down the range, I'm like, WTF? So I get the head, and give it to a friend of mine and he put in a decent shaft for me pretty quick, so I got my club back. It worked fine if not better with the new shaft, so I liked it. So about a month later I'm hitting some crap balls into the lake, and all of a sudden the head snaps off in the same place on the shaft, and goes flying into the lake......sad sight to see when your 3 wood head is flying into the lake..... It was weird it happened in the same place with two different shafts, no idea what caused it.

Played Saturday and today, shot 78 saturday, and shot 82 today. Funny thing about today is I was +8 after five holes..... 2 birdies to finish the front at 42, then 40 on the back.

Does anyone remember highway 18, the show that used to be on the golf channel? And did anyone ever watch it? I loved the format, better than most of the big breaks in my opinion, and it combined traveling, with lots of golf. I wish they'd make a second series...... It'd be better than Big Break Sandals.....

I understand not just anyone can qualify, you have to be a great player to even begin to think about it, but I just wanna know what the experience is like, hoping I can get there someday. This could include monday qualifiers for prop events too, anything like that.

I've always been fascinated by the US Open, US Am, State Ams, and any other open competition anyone can sign up for and try to qualify for, and I was wondering if anyone had any stories about trying to qualify or qualifying for them. Like what's the environment like, how good are the players, the course, etc. I'd love to hear from some of the great golfers I know we have on here! :)

If they wish to remain an amateur, they cannot collect the winnings. But if they choose to, they lose their amateur status and become pro. Basically they couldn't compete in any amateur events after that

The courses around anderson really aren't that great in my opinion, I enjoy boscobel in pendleton, but its pretty average. The best in the area by far is the walker course at Clemson, best practice area, course, fairways, layout, etc. So i'd pick that one for sure if I were you. You might even see me out there beating balls haha.

haha yes i washed my hands, and surprisingly he wasn't as tall as i thought. I mean i'm six two and he was about my height. He seemed a very nice guy, so did his son and wife, it was just very cool to see him in real life, away from the course :) And Oconee is my home course haha, one of my favorite places in the world, love the people there :)

I'm going into college at clemson, and I work at the local grocery store bagging groceries for now. So its about ten last night, and the store is getting ready to close. I'm cleaning the bathrooms, and get called up front to bag a big order for the cashier. Its this nice lady and her son, so i'm just going along like normal. We're almost done with the order, and the lady's husband walks up. I'm looking at him going, no way, this can't be who I think it is. So I say to him, I know you, and he goes, I'm a golfer....and I'm like, you're STEWART CINK!!! Ten o clock at night, at an ingles in seneca, sc, and I'm shaking hands with the British Open Champion...... best night of work ever :) He has a house in keowee key just north of town, that's why he was there if anyone is wondering lol. Just have to tell everyone here about it, it's a small world out there haha

I just wanna get everyone's opinion on your favorite, or worse, golf announcers. My favorite is by far David Feherty, whether he's talking about golf or not, he always makes me laugh and is entertaining. And I've been watching a little Live from the US Open, and I must say Notah Begay should consider a career in announcing or commentating, his insight from being a former tour player is outstanding in my opinion. Just wanna see what everyone else thinks on the topic

I've been struggling with making consistent contact, I'll hit a 270 yd drive, but then top a hybrid. Or hit a perfect nine to ten feet and then shank the next iron shot. I was cruising youtube and saw a video of troy mattesson, and noticed how he keeps his right foot planted pretty much the whole swing. Now, given, he is a stack and tilt player, but I figured i'd try it out. and from just the range practice, its impressive how well it works. It makes me feel like my swing bottoms out more consistent, and gives me more control and confidence. Is it a good idea to be trying this, and what about keeping my right foot down is making me more consistent? Thanks!

The electronic measuring device rule..... my question is, they made the decision that a local rule could be made to allow devices that only measure distance. I live in SC, and play for my golf team in high school, the scga team rules allow rangefinders through this decision, so in a team tournament with my school, could i use my laser rangefinder during a round? Its a bushnell medalist.

These are going on right now and last year i went to one, and got to watch nationwide tour guys at my local course. It was really great because there was nobody there but me and you got to stand right next to them and walk with them etc. If there is a site close, a wanna go again, but i can't find a list of the sites, can anyone help?

When i swing, my divot is always going straight or even a little to the right. but my ball slices pretty bad. like goes straight and then fades off to the right. when I look at the bottom of my irons, the tee marks are slicing too. so i have the right swing path but i cant square the face. any ideas?

I have been working on a problem I have, back swing is one plane, follow through is two plane, which leads shanks and such. Now that my swing is one plane all the way, I have been hitting weak irons, as in just straight up, not very long, and my wedges have been as bad, with the occasional skull. I think i might be sweeping the ball, but I take divots in front of the ball, and then when I try to exaggerate it, I push slice and balloon them higher. help?

because it is good friday, do you think it may be a bit more crowded than normal?

I am going golfing tommorrow as I have the day off of school, but i thought, most people have the day off of work as well, and I am taking my friend who is new to golf, and I dont want to be playing on a busy time of day with him, so what is the least busy time of day at a course normally? I was going to go bout 11, but what do you guys think.?

Adding on to bens thread, does anyone have photos of some pros at any tour event? if so, can you please post them and tell where? Also, how much does the colder weather affect your club distance? And, has anyone heard of using macguires scratch x to fix skymarks on the crowns of woods? seems like it should work, but just want to know if anyone had done it before i did. Thanks
-
true. you are probably hitting the bll well that way because your swing bottoms out to early. If you put the ball where it should, you either bottom out to early, fat, or you dont hit the ground at all, thin. Putting it back gives you the ball first then divot impact, but it encourages flaws.

why can you hit a great tee shot, get a bad hop, and have it go out, and get stroke and distance, yet if you miss it completely, you are better off
