I was fit for clubs this past weekend. The fitter has a huge upcharge for their club building, but I noticed there are a tone of websites (TGW, Golf USA, Golfio, etc) who build custom sets. Does anyone have any advice as to who is reputable and quick? I'll be traveling starting June 27th and want to have them by then if possible.

Hey Everyone, Quick question for anyone who has bought US open tickets before from third party brokers like StubHub or VividSeats. Do the tickets tend to drop in price as the event gets closer? They are dropped over the past couple of months so I'm just curious if the trend will continue. The Open is only about 400 miles from me so I want to attend but dont want to buy my tickets until the most opportune moment so to speak. I am taking my dad for fathers day so price isn't the hugest issue, but I definitely want to get the best price possible. Thanks all!

What does everyone think of my set?

I spent tons of time hitting drivers, hybrids, irons and wedges before making any purchases. In addition i was also fitted for the PING irons. I go pretty far when it comes to dropping the money i did on these things -
Need some suggestions on clubs

Its really a toss up for a nine hole course. In comparison Iive in Missoula Montana and we have three top notch course, 1 being public, 1 being semi private and the 3rd being completely private. this is the public course http://canyonrivergolfclub.com/index.php and its season passes are $895. I have played several very nice cousres and this is one of my favorites. I play enough to justify the season pass price but i also feel for the quality of the course their price is justified as well. Thought it might be nice to compare some similar prices.

I did mine in a golf shop on launch monitors and really feel like they got everything right. its nice to be able to see swing speed and trajectory in the fitting process.
-
Congrats! I hope they are as good to you as they have been to me thus far!

I will be giving this a try on my iOS device the next time that i play. I hoping this is somewhat accurate because it is a significantly smaller burden to my pocketbook.

Depending on your height and the distance from your fingertips to ground you should be able to determine club length. From what i can tell standard club length pretty much applies unless you are taller than about 6'2. shaft flex is primarily dependent on swing speed and strength. You will sacrafice a little distance with a stiffer flex but in return you will get more consistent accuracy.

I found in the one round that i used one it really helped with my club selection which in turn helped with my score. I could see where a two or three hundred dollar device might be worth it, especially if i am consistently trying to lower my score. Are their any favorite devices? Laser range finders or gps devices?

Anyone have any experience with any of these things. I recently played at a course that has a GPS system in every cart and found it very helpful to know the exact distances from where i was. Im curios if something like a sky caddie would be worth it. Anyone?

Primarily the web fitting and the pro shop fitting are pretty much the same aside from hitting off of the impact board in the pro shop. Not exactly sure if that is needed, but it cant hurt i suppose.

Montana has a few good ones ... http://www.rockcreekcattlecompany.com/golf-memberships http://stockfarm.com/Display.asp?Page=GolfCourse http://www.thewildernessclub.com/golf The first two are private, but if your lucky (like me) and know a member you can get on every once in a while. Very challenging, but beautiful courses.

2 over 74 for me today. Best score i have ever shot. I think im going to credit my new ping irons for this one.
-
Shot a 74 on my local course over the weekend. definitley the lowest i have ever scored. I tried to beat it the next day and ended up shooting an 82. Go figure.

You have made a great choice. I have played two full rounds with mine and my ball striking and accuracy have already shown improvement. What setting/shafts did you get with yours?

I played twice over the weekend, those two rounds being the first with the new PINGS and i really could not be happier with them. I broke 80 for the first time this spring on my second round so i really cant complain too much. I have been playing with he vokeys for about a month now and have been sticking the ball fairly close with ease ever since i got them. I'm still trying to straighten out my drives so far this season but i have got to say i still have been getting good distance even with a fade/slice. RBZ hybrid takes a few hits to get used to but it is very true and straight. I have been consistently getting about 225-230 with it so i really cant complain.
