  1. I like the show overall and the historical segment, although Breed sometimes does "hit it fat", if you will. It still feels a little too rushed. I'd enjoy it more if they slowed it down a touch. I don't put too much weight on the tips/drills. I think you can screw up a nice swing with a just a couple great tips. But I enjoy the show and golf talk.
  2. Can you take a really close-up shot of the surface? I'm intrigued by the sand mix concept. Sounds really great! Definitely looks great!
  3. LOL! So true...now only imagine a Colombian prison!
  4. Thanks guys! I guess I'll call up and find out how much it is and if they can do lie adjustments on my clubs!
  5. +1 I don't mind people being stylish (although thats generally not me) but this falls into the cutsey brand crap category not "this looks cool so I'll wear" category. ...IMHO
  6. I've been playing my Titleist 822 OS irons for a couple years now (they came to me used) and in the last 1.5 years I've dropped form about a 22 to a 13-14 handicap. I've made a lot of improvements around the greens - short game and putting. I've also improved my ball striking/iron game a lot but I've always wondered if it is worth it to go in and get checked for lie angle. From what I've heard its not very complicated but I don't know what it costs. Do you think it will make a difference at my skill level? Approximate cost? I'm hoping/planning to look at getting new clubs around the first of the year, but if the cost isn't too high and its a worth while investment I'd still get current clubs adjusted. I don't notice any big toe/heal problems when I'm hitting irons, but I'm not sure I would recognize the problem anyway. I'm average height (just a touch under 6'1") so that probably helps as "stock" should be fairly close as long as my setup is also "stock". So what do you think?
  7. So I'm in desperate need of a gap wedge. I'm hitting my driver straighter and further than ever before and the past couple weeks I've found myself in an new spot on short par 4's -- I'll have 90-100 yards in to the pin! So I think about my club selection - my PW is a 110-115 yard club, so I could dial that back. My SW is about a 65-70 yard club at full swing. So I have...what do you call it...a GAP! My PW is 46* and my SW is 58*. I was thinking of adding a 52* wedge to fill the void. My irons are Titleist 822 OS and they play great, my SW is a Srixon WG-504 and my selection process wasn't the most scientific, but I love the club. I was thinking about going with another Srixon 52* or possibly the ever-popular Titleist Vokey. So I have a couple questions: 1. Is 52* the right answer, or should I be thinking 54*? 2. I think I want it to be a low-bounce club since its a gap wedge, is that correct? 3. Thoughts/opinions/feelings on the Srixon WG-504 or 706's vs. the Vokey's? Have there been recent changes to the Vokey's that would make a new one a better choice then a good conditioned slightly used one? I'm on a budget but I want to get the right club. TIA! -Ryan
  8. My 350Z has been to many many rounds in the 5.5 years I've had it. Wroks great. It can squeeze two bags in there, but thats tight. One bag is not problem. I take my driver out and put it in the deeper part to make getting the bag in and out easier.
  9. I love the Bob Rotella stuff. I've read three of them and they are great. I've also read Fred Shoemaker's Extraordinary Golf and Extraordinary Putting - I got a lot more out of the golf then the putting. I've also tried to read (got about 3/4 the way and just couldn't go further) Zen Golf. Skip this one. I'd say get the Rotella collection AND Extraordinary Golf. They're an awesome combo. Ryan

    Big Break Mesquite

I was happy to see Gerry go. Nice guy, he can hit it a long long way but he wasn't one of the best there. I agree, Brian should be voted off by the viewers. I know a lot happens that we don't see, but we didn't see (nor could I imagine) Gerry being anything but nice to Brian. Brian was a jerk and said stuff that made him look very immature and very much an amatuer. Hiroshi wabbled a little bit, but a small kick in the pants will only make him focus more. Josh and Hiroshi will be a great finally - they both did great and deserve it (although Hiroshi has paid far more "dues").

    Big Break Mesquite

True, but "bomber" Jerry couldn't find a patch a green with a big stick either. I liked Kevin - he always kept his cool even when he wasn't scoring points. Brian is a good golfer, but he showed himself to be a bit of an today when he started commenting on Jerry. Not that he wasn't right OR that it wasn't sometimes funny. It's just not conduct I'd want to broadcast on national TV. Josh moved up well this week too. He's looking very solid. Hiroshi looked great the first challenge but seemed to botch everything after the first stop in the second challenge. Hiroshi and Josh are the best two pics for the end. I hope Hiroshi wins it all and gets his chance to play on tour. Josh is great and he'll have a chance to play in the big game probably too.

    Simple Index v2

    Great spreadsheet! Thanks!
  13. I ordered "Harvey Penick's Little Red Book" based on the positive comments read here. It finally came in this morning (can't complain too much, paid $4 shipped for a new paperback copy) and I just finished it. It was great little book and I really enjoyed reading all the little bits of valuable info. I will surely read it a couple times a year. I had knee surgery two weeks ago so I'm "out of the game" for now. I should be walking around and such by the end of the year and hope to make it to a practice green in early January. I'm definitely going to get some more of the recommended books. It certainly helps pass the time (I have to spend about 4-5 hours a day with my leg in a machine bending the knee). To add my own reviews: Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect - Bob Rotella -great book full of insights, a must read to grow your mental game and shave stokes Golf Is a Game of Confidence - Bob Rotella -another great book for mental development, helped me shave many strokes while only being on occasional player, definitely increased my consistency Who's Your Caddy? - Rick Reilly -a funny and meandering story about caddying for sort of people, a good laugh and some good lessons Zen Golf - Joseph Prent -couldn't get through it yet, too much Zen, not enough golf. Maybe I'll give it a shot again soon. So far, it can't hold a candle to the Dr. Rotella books above. Harvey Penick's Little Red Book of Wisdom - Harvey Penick and Bud Shrake - very enjoyable, quick read, lots of bits of info and some very interesting history. After reading I very much wish Harvey were alive so I could meet him and have a conversation with him. -Ryan
