Swing is improving for sure. Got my first birdie today (was nearly a 140yd dunked eagle by half a ball) although, my score hasn't really changed. The difference i'd that I am getting pars and bogeys with a couple doubles and then two or three blow up holes that bloat the score. Got myself hitting downward for the most part (still hit thin here and there) but it seems to be coming together.

Sure would, seems like a cool guy to me. Just fighting swing demons. Can't hate on a guy for that. Plus, there are penalties for slow play and he only had one breach of that on Saturday and didn't repeat it so he's good to go.

Update on the swing. Slowed tempo down, was rushing through transition and switching planes. Slowing down has stopped the plane issue. Also, noticed that my right elbow was flying and hips were dead (thinking it was fear of sliding backwards so they were hardly moving at all). After hours on the mat and net, I've corrected the flying elbow, switching plane and got my hips moving. Now I just have to rinse and repeat to help these changes stick. Tested out the swing at the range today and noticed a marked improvement in ball flight. Will test it out this Sunday (teeing off at 8:50 at Atchafalaya at Idlewild, much more difficult course than I'm used to playing)

This seems to have helped me hit down on the ball...
Cajun83 replied to paddlefoot's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I tried looking past the ball but like others, it seemed to make me hit thin. Started focusing on the ball and forcing my hips to slide forward earlier in my downswing and today, for the first time (after ten hours of practice over the past five days in the net, hitting off of the mat) I now know what an actual golf shot feels like. -

They're generally not aggressive in the sense of chasing you down for no reason and they normally turn tail unless it's a female protecting a nest or if they're poised for ambush at the waters edge. The gator doesn't know what is disturbing the water if the water is cloudy, just that something inside its strike zone is moving. Their muscles are loaded for attack and any disturbance near the edge or in the water causes them to go off.

Creature walks up to the edge of a gators ambush point, gator lunges out and grabs his food. Of course his intention was to kill.. Lol. He's not out for a round of golf, he's surviving. It happens. Couple years back, about a mile from my house, a kid got grabbed while fishing with his dad. Gator popped his arm off at the elbow before he knew what happened. Moral of the story, be careful by water hazards.

In need of New Golf Shoes!

I like my Adidas powerband 3.0.. Good price too now that the new ones came out. -
Honestly not much bothers me other than the really slow guys that refuse to let you play through when you're clearly playing much faster. Not playing speed golf but watching a group golflogix every shot then bend it like Bubba onto the next fairway gets old quick. Also, watching a guy take a step back from his setup because a car/airplane/ufo is passing near him... Then he waits for the "noise" to stop so he can test the compression of his ball against that white oak over there... Although that isn't annoying, its just funny.

Working on cleaner ball contact (I'm a picker), swing plane (backswing on plane, switches at transition to downswing, comes over the top) and bringing my practice swing to the course... So basically working on learning how to play golf. :) Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Here is a preemptive "fore!" just for safety sake. So, I'm 28, Name is Eric, owned clubs when I was in my early 20's but couldn't get rid of a vicious slice. Played five rounds (carded no lower than 130 every time) and gave up after a year of banging it out on the range. In February, something sparked my interest so I talked to a buddy about getting back into it. Decided that I was determined so I bought clubs (Nike SQ Machspeed irons and an Odyssey White ice 5 putter) The buddy (8 hdcp) handed down a TM R9 SuperTri driver, TM Burner 3w, burner 3 hybrid and pair of Rac Black wedges 56 & 60. Picked up a ping walking bag and I'm good to go. Started out determined to lose the slice and sure enough, it came back on the first swing. After two range trips and adopting a stronger grip, the slice was gone. After a few more trips, it was developing into a slightly heavy draw. Started trying to straighten it back out and am currently at that stage. First round played on March 6th , I carded a 114. The next day, a 106. Since then I have played a total of seven rounds all scores have been between there. Bought a practice net and mat for backyard and feel that it has helped. I record my swing and am basically coming in too steep, over the top but have stopped the hook/hard draw by rolling back to a slightly weaker grip. This forum seems a great place to be. Can't wait to learn! Having a blast!
