  1. i think you'll find it was neil young said that way before kurt cobain :)
  2. I've been playing 3 years now. Started with a cheap Wilson starter set and have been upgrading bit by bit. Hcp is 17 on a really good day. I play once a week and practice once or twice a week. Would love to play more but you know, time and money. I'm after a set of irons and want to choose them carefully as I want them to last. I've played and loved the Rocketballz (although these are now suprseded by the Rocketbladez) , and have also swung the Ping G20s and i20s in a store. The store will fit me for whichever, they all feel better than my Wilsons and my distance is vastly better with all, but suspect that might be down to manufacturer delofting. I'm 51 yo, 5'11" and 155 pounds, have a steady swing, tend to hit pretty straight (with a touch of fade) but not too far (7i around 140 yds, 3W around 220 yds). Short game is decent, my green reading sucks and overall I feel I'm inconsistent. Have had a few lessons, one every 3/4 months. Can anyone give me some advice on what to look for, questions I should be asking, or persoanl experience with the mentioned models? Thanks to all, fairways and greens.
  3. i use google docs to keep notes on good days, updating as i go. here's my current go-to: PRE lots of stretching grab club vertical position and warm up wrist cock practice a quick swing slow it back down eat-before starting drink-well hydrated before starting SWING left shoulder tucks under chin on backswing do NOT sway push off a bit with right foot long arms/follow through all the way through, up and right a bit (NO CHICKEN WING) keep head down after contact PUTTING finish putting, don’t ‘take it in turns’ backswing immediately away from target keep head down after contact
  4. I got hooked on golf just 3 years ago and until recently follow the lead of the more experienced fellows in my group. Now that I've got a better understanding of etiquette and have more confidence I do my bit to move things along. And if I see a group behind us catching up I'll suggest we step up the pace before it becomes a hands-on-hips issue. I play lots of private and semi-private courses here in Barcelona (Spain) with a mix of locals, English, Scots, Americans, assorted Europeans and a Kiwi, so am lucky enough to enjoy a fabulous cross section of cultures. We're of varying levels, from mid 20s to single-digit players, and one thing we have in common is that all are concerned that we don't do anything to spoil anyone elses day out, (although sometimes we all need a gentle reminder now and again). Leaving aside the course design argument for the moment, I see it as the responsibility of all players, especially the 'senior' player/s in the group, to self-regulate. Leaving it to committees is just passing the responsibility to the people that can set the rules but cannot enforce them, and who wants a marshall giving you grief if the alternative is to self-regulate? It's up to us.
  5. Take a look at Scottish golfing practices. They are notoriously time-efficient (some clubs recommend 3h 20m for 18) and take a dim view on a group holding up others.
  6. understood, thanks. can lie be adjusted also?
  7. I've been measured for custom clubs and want to know how practical/possible it is to have existing clubs (in the case of my current irons or, buying online and then having them adjusted) adjusted. my own measurements were lie +1.5º and length is extra 0,5” obviously not easy to add more length but the pro said a half inch wasn't much of an issue. so this question really applies to adjusting the lie. thx.
  8. I've crossed various emails with the Bushnell people and it0's marked "Bushnell", it's a knockoff. Received as a present, assume buyer bought it online. As Bushnell told me " From the further information you have supplied ... I’d suggest you now have a very fancy paperweight. " :) Thx for the ideas.
  9. I've been given a laser rangefinder but am having trouble using it. it's a bushnell 5-700 (10x25). some of the time it'll give me a distance(tends to be shorter distances) but more often than not it'll calculate and calculate but doesn't come up with anything. i have tested this from my balcony and i get distances instantly (have tested up to 500 meters and it seems pretty quick and accurate), and "Quality" shows as full. On a course it's different (low battery indicator doesn't show) as I just get the moving indicator showing it's calculating but after a few seconds get zip. any tips? thanks golf nuts.
  10. I've been given a laser rangefinder but am having trouble using it. it's a bushnell 5-700 (10x25). about half the time it'll give me a distance, but the other half it's calculates and calculates but doesn't come up with anything. i have tested this from my balcony and i get distances instantly, but on a course it's different (low battery indicator doesn't show). any tips?
  11. Thanks. I bought them untried. I have the matching 3 wood which I love so assumed the hybrids would be as good. So far so good but still getting used to them. They are very easy to work but that means if I'm a little offline I'll see some serious draw/fade. :(
  12. Callaway Diablo Edge Tour Hybrids Have just bought these to replace my Wilson 3H and 4H so still settling in with them.
  13. I carry a 4H (and a 3H) but it's a different ball flight (much shallower landing/harder to stop).
  14. I've played twice in the past fortnight with players carrying a 9 wood. They say it replaces their 4-iron and 5-iron and it gave them a lovely soft landing when going for sloped greens. I've had a quick look on the big UK websites but they don't seem to sell them, so I assume there's not much demand. Do others play this club? Cheers.
  15. We work in metres here so I've rounded off by adding a flat 10% Driver: 220-250 Fairway: 200-220 3 Hybrid: 185 4 Hybrid: so erratic i rarely use it* 5i: 160 6i: 150 7i: 138 8i: 110 9i: 100 PW: 88 56º: 77 60º: 60 PW/56º/60º are easy enough to finesse with full, 3/4 and half swings (a la Dave Pelz). * maybe i've got a lemon 4 hybrid
  16. if this is true then that's that. http://www.scaminformer.com/scam-report/feelgolfclubs-supplied-fake-golf-clubs-internet-c71357.html
