That's a good question. I'm not sure who was better. I thought a couple of times that Heath sounded like Jack. I would say Heath was better only because I haven't seen the old Batman movie in years.

Ok maybe I'm going crazy and just couldn't tell the difference in distances but I could have swore that every iron I hit this afternoon at the driving range was going 125 yards and that was it. I was getting good solid contact on most of my shots but every iron I hit only went about 125 yards. Should this be happening? Could it just have been because of the range balls or am I just going crazy? I know I can hit my 4 iron a lot farther than 125 yards. I'm sure I can probably hit my 7 iron a little farther than 125 yards. Here's what I'm playing: Driver: Founders Club "The Judge" Graphite shaft 3-wood: 15* steel shaft 5 & 7-wood: Macgregor Velocitized BBT Oversized Graphite Shaft Medium Flex 21* & 25* 3-iron: Wilson Sam Snead Blue Ridge 4-SW: Maker's Pride irons steel shafts The 3W and 4 thru SW are all about 13 years old. The 3i I'm sure if every bit of 25 years old. I'm planning on getting some new clubs this winter. Anyone know anything about Maker's Pride clubs? I want to say they are a Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith brand that you build your own sets with.

Master Teeing Off With an Iron Thread
bogeyme replied to GlobeGuy's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I've only not teed a ball up on a par 3 a couple of times. I just don't like the idea of possibly taking a huge divot and really screwing up my tee shot. -
I heard about this early this morning. I was hoping I was still dreaming when I heard this. Guess not. This is very sad. The worst part is he'll "get off" easy for being insane.

That's good. Hopefully it will work out for both teams.

I'm saddened by the news seeing as I'm a Reds fan but happy for him. Hopefully the White Sox fans will be a little nicer to him than most of the jackasses in Cincy were. I just hope that Cincy gets something good but from the looks of it, they will only get cash.

If you think she might be in it ask her to send a picture of herself and try and match it up with a picture in the magazine. Ummm...I'm not sure how you verify age without just trusting that they are as old as they say.

If you could buy a new set of irons, what would you buy?
bogeyme replied to oooasdf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm hoping to purchase some new clubs at the end of the season. I think I'm going to go with Callaway X-18's or X-20's depending on which ones I can find and the price on them. I like the look of them. I might even pick up a Heavenwood hybrid if I can find a good deal on one of those too. -
Call me "that guy" if you want but I use the iron covers. I've got the neoprene covers. They are easy to take off and put on. When I get to my ball I decide what club I'm going to hit and then as I'm pulling the club out of my bag, I pull the cover off. After the shot as I'm putting the club back in my bag the cover goes back on. Doesn't take any extra time. It might slow me down by a nano-second or some very small fraction of time but nothing that's going to hold the whole course up.

The crowds weren't all that big. There were a lot of people there but most of the time both yesterday and today there were only a handful of people following the group I was following. Some of the other guys had some pretty big followers though.

My wife and I made it out to the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University for Day 3 of the NCHI tournament. We arrived around 10:00. We watched a couple of the guys on the driving range. About 10:30 we headed over to Hole number 1. Since this was the first time my wife had been on a golf course I wasn't sure how she would do. I told her to remember to keep quiet while they were getting ready to hit. The group on the tee was Grant Waite and Casey Whitenberg. They both teed off and hit pretty good drives. Since they were the first group to tee off since we were there we decided to follow them. We ended up following them all day. Casey finished 1 under and Grant finished 1 over for the day. I have to admit I was a little disappointed with Casey. He is a great golfer but his immaturity shows through. I realize that certain things come with the emotion of the game. I know of atleast 5 times that the f-bomb was dropped, and a few times gd was dropped. I figured as a professional he could keep his cool through the good and the bad shots but like I said sometimes the emotions get the best of you. Grant on the other hand was great. He played much better than his score showed. He probably played 3-4 under but just couldn't get putts to drop. That's the breaks though. I spent most of the round with his wife and son. They were great too. Very friendly. After the round was over I was standing off to the side of the scorer's tent and got both autographs. Casey started to walk past me but after I said something to him he signed my book and then walked off. Once again Grant was more of the gentleman and signed a stress ball I had and my book. Then even took time to talk with me for a minute. Well it's off to Day 4. I'll be following Grant again today. I'll report my day tomorrow.

Poll: List of reputable sellers on Ebay?...
bogeyme replied to gills's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I voted indifferent. Just because they are a legit seller doesn't mean a fake won't sneak by them. From some of the posts I've read here the fakes are pretty close to the real ones. I'm sure most of the legit guys will catch any fakes people try to sell them but I'm sure one or two can sneak through. I do think it would help though to cut out the 1,000's of guys that no one's sure about but then again one of the unsure guys could be selling legit stuff also. -
I'm stuck between two sets of clubs but I plan on hitting both sets and maybe a couple more before I actually buy something. I'll most likely drop around $500 during my purchase so I'm going to take my time and see what I like. I can't afford to drop another $500 in a year or two.

I will most likely have a fitting done. I am about the same height as you. I'm just under 6' with shoes. I believe my doctor has me at 70 inches or so. I was talking with someone over the weekend about golf clubs and I said that most likely this will be the last set of clubs that I will buy for a very long time. If I were to buy clubs from Golfsmith and I have them fitted and they need to be 1 inch longer will the price of the clubs go up or would I still be paying $399 or how ever much the clubs are? Or are the changes to the clubs included in the price of the fitting? How much does it cost to have a fitting done?

What do you guys/gals do to drop hints about what you would like for gift giving occasions whether it be father's/mother's day, birthday, Christmas (or any other religious holiday) or anniversary? Last night I was presented with the perfect opportunity to drop a "hint" if you will. We were at Olive Garden (man I love that place) celebrating my brothers 21st birthday. Some how my wife and my mother got on the subject of shopping at Kohl's (both of their favorite place to shop) and my brother says "You know I found a way to get a bunch of fuel points at Kroger. You buy gift cards at Kroger to where ever you're planning on shopping and that way you get bonus points for buying the gift cards." I said "Speaking of gift cards I'd like gift cards to Golfsmith so I can buy some new golf clubs. Which you can convinently purchase at Kroger." Now I know it wasn't really a hint that I would like gift cards to Golfsmith but I think I got my desire across to everyone at the table. So what are some of the things you guys do outside of circling a specific item in an ad or printing it off of the net and handing it to someone?

I thought she was after seeing a couple pictures of her. Then last night I was watching her show (if you can call it that) on Golf Channel and realized that she wasn't as hot as I thought. My wife walked in and said "I see why you like golf. Cute girls." My response was "You think she's hot??" Good thing it wasn't Paula. She would have been all over me about her. I'm sure Natalie is a real sweetheart but I just don't find her "hot".

There was a course I played in Tennessee twice. The first time either it had just opened or was in the process of redoing a lot of the holes. The conditions were bad. Not as bad as you described but they were bad. Luckily the water hazards didn't have much water in them so the stray shots that made it there were easy to retrieve. I remember on a couple of greens there were bare dirt spots, along with some of the fairways. A year or two later I played that same course again and you wouldn't believe the changes. You could hardly tell it was the same course. Like others have said give it a year or two and things will improve.

Is there a benefit to buying clubs from say Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy over a place like Dick's Sporting Goods or Sports Authority? All these places have the clubs I'm looking at priced the same so that thought is out. I'm not sure about Sports Authority but all the other places atleast have a place where I can hit the clubs so that might remove Sports Authority from the "equation". I was just thinking that SA is closer to me than all the other places but if they don't have a place to try the clubs it would benefit me to drive a little longer of a distance to try the clubs and make sure I like them before I buy them. Does anyone know if any of those places "deal" on things, like if I was going to buy a set of irons if they would discount a driver or hybrids a little more or maybe a new bag? Thanks guys.

Well I had a good time playing in the outing on Friday. Well for the most part I had fun. We were in front of a group of a**holes that hit into us a total of 3 times. By the last time the other guys in my group were ready to whoop some a$$ but cooler heads preveiled and we continued to play golf. Of course by that time our game was shot because we were so pissed about the dumbasses. It was incredible hot all day. So by the time we got around to the last couple of holes we were dragging. I did not play so hot. I had a few good shots to help my team out. I ended up losing about a dozen balls in total. One of my best shots of the day came on the 15th hole. It's a par 3. This hole they were giving away a two year lease on a 2008 Corvette. It was silver and had black leather interior. Man it was pretty. Of course on this hole they have a couple of very beautiful girls sitting there. So I tee up my ball, and hit it square. It made a beautiful sound and the club hit the ball. Perfect flight pattern. It hit the green, bounced right and ended up about 2 feet from the pin. For a second I thought it was going to go in. Man I was pumped. We finished the day 5 under. Best I've ever finished in a scramble.

Question about Taylormades
bogeyme replied to tazrestling27's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I am considering the same two sets of clubs right now. Although I know it won't be until after the season is over before I buy anything. I was going to ask the same question you did. Looks like from the responses that the RAC's are prefered over the r7 draws. I was also wondering what other people's opinions were on the Burner Draw? I've got a wicked slice most of the time with my driver/woods. Would it be worth the money to get a driver that will correct my problem. -
Since you know the guy running it that means you get to knock a couple strokes off your score right? That's cool that you found him again.

After reading this thread I'm starting to think I'm the only "stud" left in the barn around here. I'm only 25 so this isn't even on the chart to think about. My wife and I have yet to have kids but she has mentioned a time or two that I will be the one stepping up to the plate when this time rolls around. Maybe you can talk your wife into some new golf equipment if you are a good little soldier and don't cry during it. Take a magazine with you and that way you won't see the smoke. Good luck my man.

Ok so what are the facts then Mr. Daly? Why did Coach Gruden caddie the rest of the round? Has that ever come out as to why other than it being a drunk decision? I always thought Daly was a good golfer but now he's just a waste.
-
Oh man. I'm far from being good but if she played 5 rounds to get ready maybe she should have played a couple more. Atleast everyone had fun right? I've got my company scrammble coming up Friday. I'm interested to see who I'm teamed up with. I know it will be me, my cousin (who is nursing a kidney stone but is dedicated to playing) and 2 unknowns. Should be fun.

Nice. I always wished I'd come across someone like that. Never did but tried my hardest to help everyone I could.
