  1. I think you have good selections, the a2's sound like a deal and you get your hybrids. I agree with getting last years models, I have the r-7 425 that I got a good deal on from rockbottomgolf. I like my cleveland wedges and they have some older models like the 588's for pretty cheap on outlet at golfsmith.
  2. check out "rockbottomgolf" they have closeouts and some great deals. They have Adams A2 hybrid iron set for $229, that will get you your irons(including pitching wedge) 5-PW and your 3&4 hybrid. Check "options" if you order for shaft flex, you probably want regular instead of stiff unless you have a very fast swing speed. They also have some Taylormade r-7 draws for $299 or wilson Di-7 for the same. Also Nike drivers and Taylormade burners for under $150. I bought a starter set 2 years ago and don't have 1 club left in my bag(the bag is the only thing I still have). I got the bug and replaced everything a little at a time, my 12 year old has everything else! It was suggested to get a good iron set and Driver and build my set from there, I should have listened. I got most of my clubs on closeouts at golf stores, check last years models. I paid $169 for my 3 hybrid when it 1st came out, I got my 4 hybrid(same model) a year later for $69 on closeout because the new models were out. You can get some great deals on golfsmith outlet and closeouts also. Be careful on ebay, I got a fake 3-wood from china.
  3. I was using them when I got my new irons this spring, then I stopped when I found out it wasn't cool to use the covers. I've never cared too much what people think and my irons are showing marks from banging together. I usually walk and they don't really do much banging then, when I ride or in my car I will keep the covers on them.
  4. I just ordered a couple dozen Pro V's from lostgolfballs.com after seeing the site mentioned on the site. Got 2 dozen 3 out of 5 star for less than $30 with shipping. A guy I golfed with the other day said balls taken from water hazrds were no good, he said you can feel the difference when you hit them. A golf ball doesn't seem porus so what could affect performance. If these are decent they have 4 star(appear to have been played for 3 holes) for $14 a dozen for ProV's. Any info would be appreciated.
  5. got fake r-7 3 wood from china, seller had good reviews. Golfsmith confirmed it was fake, best fake they had seen but fake. Had a burner sticker on the shaft and the weight ports didn't look right(compared to my r-7 driver). Gave it to dad for Christmas(he has a clone r-7 driver) and got real one on sale at golfsmith.
  6. I agree with the Adams IDEA a2's, you get the hybrid 3&4 then the irons. They are a better set than the tight lies, that is their cheapest set I think. The Adams idea a1 or a2's are pretty common on ebay used, I was looking for a set for my friend who needs a set. You can get a set for under $150 w/shipping easily.
  7. My 12 year old knows that all Dad needs is a Cleveland CG14 60degree low bounce black pearl lob wedge, which mom can find at golfsmith(included directions). She wrote everything down so now I have to keep my fingers crossed!
  8. check "rockbottomgolf" they get alot of close-out stuff and great prices.
  9. Watch stuff from China! Got a fake r-7 3 wood from Bejing, lots of fakes come from there I later found out. I will stick to close-outs or maybe "rockbottomgolf"
  10. I picked up a set of Cleveland CG-4's for just over $300 on close-out, I am very happy with them. I looked into the last couple years golf digest hot list, my clubs all made the list a year or 2 back. It is worth me saving about half the price to get them on close-out, they were the hot club last year and the new ones this year will be on close-out when the new ones come out! A friend of mines son got the nike's that you mentioned and is happy with them. Do a google search for the brand and model you are considering, you will get plenty of reviews.
  11. I would consider a decent used set, demos or close-out. I bought a set of Ram fx-5's for my first set, then I was bitten by the bug! I was told to buy a decent set of irons and start building a set that I will be happy with. As you can see by my signature none of those clubs remain. Luckily I have a 12 year old who is excited about his Ram clubs he got from dad! I got all my current clubs on close-outs,last years model, and got good deals on them!
  12. I put one about 3 inches from a 148 yard at a golf outing. I thought I won the closest to the pin but it the womens hole for that!
  13. I have been carrying my 52 gap wedge in my car and hit the practice area at a couple local courses as much as I can. I am confident chipping with my 7 and usually getting it close, not so consistent with my pitches. I also have a park down the street and pitch at my kids hoola hoop, my plan is practice as much as I can. When I am on the course i have more confidence when I grab that club, instead of the dreaded negative feeling when I reach for the club.
  14. I think the 3-wood and 3 hybrid with the gap wedge is the way I would go. The R-7 3-wood is a nice club, I have the r-7 steel with the graphite shaft and got a good deal on it. My pitching wedge is 46 and my sand is 56, I got a 52 gap and have been working alot with that club.
  15. The club is set for a draw, the 14 gram closer to the shaft is weighted for a draw. I got a r-7 425 driver and the r-7 steel 3 wood thinking they would eliminate my slice, they weren't magic clubs like I thought. I still had to work on my swing and get my path inside and release my club. I love the clubs and will mess with the waits now that I have worked out some of the swing flaws!
