Out with a friend the other day, and he had a ~30 foot putt on 18. I pulled a Happy Gilmore and yelled "Jackass" right as he was about to hit it, he turned around to glare at me, and I just stood there watching his ball go in while he was busy giving me the death stare.

"Fixed" is very relative, since I might go out and hit some wicked slices tomorrow, but for me it's all about getting my weight forward and feeling like I'm keeping my left arm against my chest in the backswing.

Went out tonight and played pretty well for a while. 52 on the front due to a couple bad holes. Back 9 had lots of bigs numbers as I started slicing....and then proceeded to lose 5 balls on 17 and 18. I knew there was a reason I'm not playing $4 balls!

Once I shoot an 18 I'll be absolutely satisfied! Until then I'll have to settle for pretty happy. Even with a great round, there are always going to be things to improve upon. That's what keeps the game fun, though.

Ah, good point. I like the "hit a couple more into the water" suggestion.

I would try not adding up your score until the end of the round. That way you can focus on each hole instead of getting in your own head about how you need to finish in order to reach par.

Fair enough To clarify, my thumbs are still pointed down the shaft as they would be in any other grip. The only difference is the position of the pinky. I'm certainly not an expert, or I wouldn't be in this thread, but I don't think it affects the release much. A true baseball grip, with the thumbs wrapped around the shaft, would certainly inhibit wrist flex, which is why nobody uses it.

There have been pros using the 10-finger grip in the past. Personally, I find it more comfortable because my right hand feels very unnatural in a neutral position with the pinky overlapping or interlocked, so while I was interlocking, I tended to have a very strong right hand. Since where the pinky goes is (to my knowledge) not terribly important, but having a neutral grip is, it's worth whatever I may be losing with the pinky to have the rest of my grip be correct. It's certainly possible that I will at some point switch to an overlap or interlock in the future. I'd guess that a larger grip size would allow me to do so comfortably, but that's not money I'm going to spend right now to fix an issue that may or may not exist.

Went out and struggled to make solid contact for most of the round. I was playing with my grip, going back and forth between an overlap and an interlock, and on 18 finally said screw it and went back to the 10-finger I used last year before I knew anything about golf. Managed to string together 5 pretty good shots, including an up and down from the bunker (I guess they couldn't have been that good since I was in the bunker, but hey), for a pretty satisfying bogey. I know I have more issues than just the grip, but it was nice to finally find something that feels comfortable. I'll be going to the range in the morning to try to work everything out. It's too bad this game is so addicting because it's really damn frustrating!

Went out today for the first time in a year after a couple recent range sessions. Gave up keeping track of the score after I topped my first three shots 25 yards and just played. Proceeded to top probably 50% of the rest of my shots. The other half were so nice though! I guess that's why we all keep coming back anyways. Managed a couple pars and bogeys when I stayed down on the ball. Short game was a lot better than it was last year since I've been practicing in the yard a lot. It's nice to see the results show up on the course! I'll focus on keeping my head still at the range and hopefully limit the miss-hits next round. Looking forward to getting back out there!

I put a couple smily faces on them. Reminds me to relax when things aren't going my way, which is almost always, and is hard to confuse with someone else's. Great conversation starter, too. I try to avoid putting my initials on them so that they can't identify me when I shank it through someone's window or hit the guy standing behind me.

Unless they were driving from the passenger seat, they would be getting out on the side not against Wisguy's car. Not that I agree with what he did, as I certainly don't.

I certainly don't think we should cut the entire DoD and use all the money for space ex, but the amount we spend on defense is excessive, IMHO, and there is room for cuts. It's ridiculous to take the suggestion of cuts to the military as wanting to abandon the troops, and similarly, not supporting our wars DOES NOT equal not "supporting the troops."

Played my 3rd ever round today, and I'm still waiting on mine. Missed a 15 footer for what would have been my first by half an inch today

46 today (9 holes). Smashed my previous best of 107 for 18, and that one even included a few mulligans. It's amazing what eliminating penalties and 3-putts does for the score. I didn't feel like I played that well, but I didn't lose a ball all day, only had 1 3-putt, and got up and down pretty well. I'm now even more hooked on golf than before, if that's possible, and I can't wait to go play 18 and hopefully break 100 (maybe 90 soon after?). Obviously a 46 is nothing compared to what some of you guys are shooting, but I feel pretty good about it for only my 3rd round ever!

So say you hit your tee shot in the fairway, and then top #2 10ft in front of you into the water. I know you're now lying 4, but does the distance part mean you would move back 10 ft from where you hit #2? So you were lying 2, 10ft behind the water, and now you're lying 4, 20ft behind?

Wish you hadn't said that...apparently you gave someone the idea I'm down to just Tiger now...let's go, -9!

+1 I'm also 17 (I'm a total hacker, though), and I recently bought the Z4 irons. Sure I'd rather have Mizunos or something, but Giga is unbeatable for the price. The clubs are nice and great quality. They're kind of SGI shovel-y (part of that is the Z4s in particular), but they have more than enough performance for anything you'd want to do.

Ah cool. I spend a week in Brewster every summer. Played Captains a few times with the juniors $5 after 5pm deal. Turning 18 next year is going to suck...

I can't really help you out except to say that I really like my Burner 08 3W, but where on the cape do you live?

Would you call a guy that grounds his club in a bunker or carries 15 clubs "massively arrogant and hugely ignorant" as well? Both are also against the rules.
