Hey. I just got my new R9. Im having trouble understanding the directions in the booklet. I have a natural fade. I am trying to reduce this, due to loss of yardage. key point: I am a lefty. So, are the directions opposite in the booklet for me? Should I set it on "left" or "right" to help reduce my fade? Hope this makes sense. Thanks, Cole

Hey guys, I just got a new Newport 2. The main color, as you are aware is red. I dont like red. I really dont want to stand over my putter with the red on the head. Anyhow, I want to turn my Scottie to the color blue. I want to try and paintfill all of the red with blue. And I am going to try and find a blue Scottie grip. What is the best type of paint that I should use? Any ideas? Thanks, Cole

I started using the ix religiously, this past winter. I actually cut the cover of 6 balls during that time. It's amazing how thin the cover really is on those balls. I do consider them pretty durable, but with that being said.... they also felt heavier than the ProVX's, so I switched back.

I had pain in the lower back and also migraines. I went to a neuroligist several times. He put me on a different type of medication every month at my visit, when I said that I still had pain. Anyhow, I finally broke down and went to the Chiropractor. It took about 6 weeks of visits, and I have no more lower back pain or migraines. It really works. HE showed me X Rays of before and after as to how my pain was eliminated, and why. It's a shame that Chiropractors dont advertise more than what they do, to expalin how that can really help people. Or, have the money to back them. The medical industry just has too much power and money. They have our country brainwashed. Every other commercial that you see is about trying to sell a prescription drug, with many side effects. Just trying to cover the pain, instead of fixing the real cause. Go to the Chiropractor. Get on a schedule of visits, and feel your pain and restrictions go away. Which, in turn will help your golf game and life as a whole. Thats what I did. My life is so much better. Later, Cole

Thanks a million for your replies. This week I have also put the Speeded shaft into the IQ head. Same results as the Fubuki shaft. Still shorter than the Burner. I like the idea of adding an inch to the shaft. I may try that. I will also get on the Trackman. What does it mean to get the shaft tipped, to play softer? Thanks, Cole
-
I am seeing that the trajectory of the ball flight is very simular with both clubs. I did notice that the Burner is a 10.5 degree and the IQ is an 11 degree. I wonder if I were to go to a 9.5 or a 10.5 degree head in the IQ, would it get me a few more yards?

I have the Taylor Made Tour Burner driver. It has the Fujikura RE AX Stiff Flex 60 shaft. I have learned that this shaft is too incosistent. To prove that, I have switched drivers this week. I have went to the Callaway IQ driver with a Fubuki Stiff Flex shaft. The club pro wanted to show me some type of flex test in the pro shop with the Fubuki shaft and the taylor made shaft. We did some type of bounce test with both of the drivers. The bounce on the Fubuki shaft was the exact same number every time. It read 265. My Taylor Made shaft was different everytime. We did both shafts 5 times. He explained that the factory Taylor Made shaft was cheaply made, and was not going to be consistent. I really do hit the Taylor Made shaft further. 30 yards further. But, I hit alot more fairways with the Fubuki, I am not happy with the Fubuki due to lack of distance that I am used to. So, how do I get my distance back that I know that I can produce, and still keep the consistiency of the Fubuki? Any suggestions please... Cole

Thanks for the replies. I gave up on the Rife, and brought back the Odyssey. Putted for a couple hours today after work. Felt really good. I now believe that there is not a putter that will shave any strokes off my putting totals. My Odyssey just feels too good. I just need to work on my putting more. Been spending allot of time on lag puts. Feel really confident that I can two put from anywhere on the green. Now I am going to start to focus on expanding my range for one putts. Thanks again to everyone for the insight. Cole

I need some advice. I have been using the odyssey dual force putter which is a blade style putter. I average about 29 or 30 putts per round. I am comfortable with the putter. Recently, I have been given the opportunity to use the new Hybrid Rife putter. Rife is claiming that the roll from this putter to be allot more true, with less bounce of the putter face. I have been using the new putter for a few days, and a just cant get comfortable standing over it. Putts arent as consistent. I think that it is mostly due to the fact that it is not a blade style putter, which I have always used. It looks kinda like the odyssey three ball. It is allot heavier. I guess that I need some advice on what to do. Should I give the putter some more playing time? Or should I just accept the fact that I play the blade style putters better? Really... I am at a loss. Not sure what to do.

I need your thoughts. My golf game has really developed as of late. I know that I have a good game inside me. I have shot several rounds in the low 70's. My lowest round is 70 at my home course. I have shot a couple 9 hole rounds under par as well. but.... last weekend, while I was playing with the "Sunday crowd" at my home course, I shot an 85. Just could not get it together. Why do I have these days? I really want to start being competitive in some mini tour tournaments, and who knows from there. My dream is to make the NationWie, and be good enough to actually try Q school. Actually, I hit balls everyday. I mean everyday after work, I am practicing. I am 34. Is it too late for me to expect to be competitive in tournament golf? Why do I have rounds at 70, and rounds at 85? What should I do to improve this situation? I need some constructive critisim / guidance. Thanks, Cole

Hole 11 is killing me, mentally. (help me off the tee)
Cole replied to Cole's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I really appreciate the help guys. btw... I played this morning, and my drive ended up about 18 inches from the white markers along the woods on the right side. I was under a bush, and had to punch out. 98 yards out by then. Two putted for bogey. And the saga continues ..... -
I need some help. I am a member of a club here in SC, an I play here often. I score pretty well here. Hole number 11, is a par 4. Water along the fairway on the left, and woods down the right. Both sides have litte distance between the fairway and woods / water. Hole is perfectly straight. Plays 430 yards. Now, off the tee, I have a problem with hitting the ball Straight into the woods on right. I mean dead pull. No hook. (Im a lefty) I must admit. I do think about pulling the drive as I approach this tee, everytime. Guess what... If Im not in the woods, I am up against the stakes. Im not sure if I have ever been on the fairway! Maybe a few times. Anyhow, I need help in getting past this mental road block. Any ideas? Thanks, Cole

Dave, I have recently started this method. Maybe for about a month now. I find that it is really beneficial right before I hit the first tee. I always do the same format... Right around 8 feet, 12 feet, 16 feet, and 20 feet. I start with the shortest put, and work my way out. Seems to build my confidence with the putter before I tee off. I have a pretty good idea of how fast the greens are going to be. It has seemed to help me alot more than putting 4 balls from the same spot. I dont forsee myself going back to that method. Personally, I am trying to get my putting average below 30.

I need some opinions on improving my putting. I played today, and broke 30 putts for the first time. I had 29 putts. My question is this.... How in the world do I get myself in position to be able to drain more long putts? Like 10~20 footers. Just practice them everyday? Get better at green reading? The pros make alot more long putts on average. How does someone get to this level? Thanks.

Thanks a million for all the great advice. You guys are telling me what I wanted to hear. Slow down and shoot for accuracy. Today, I played and made an effort on every shot to slow down and just to keep me on track, I made sure to say the word "tempo" before every shot. I shot very well. My driver did however cause me two penalty strokes. Straight pull to the left. Still need to figure out how to beat that one. Thanks again for the replies.

I have always took pride on how far I could hit the ball. Especially off the tee. When I hit the ball good, I am usually a wedge out on a par 4. I can reach most par 5's in 2. The problem is that I more often than not, miss the fairway. My driver usually cost my around 6 strokes per round. I guess that I am at a new page in my golf game, to where I want to start shooting lower scores. Not so much of being the longest one off the tee. I was just wanting some ideas / thoughts about this. What direction would best help me reach my goal of lower scores? Should I back off the driver? Or, is it possible to learn to stay in more fairway's and still swing at 100%? Any help would be appreciated. Any stories of how you have dealt with the same dilemma would be great .

I just wanted to say that I am thrilled for Tommy, and his results this weekend / year. I have read alot of talk around different forums that have been suggesting that he may not have what it takes to be on the PGA tour. Regeardless if he does or not, I am pulling for him, and personally, I think he does have what it takes. He will only get better in seasons to come. He found a new putter this weekend, and it made all the difference in the world. He has been working mostly with limited support. As Tommy makes more of a stronger name for himself, he will surly gain more support. Which means more of an advantage to help him improve. Anyhow, he is from my area, so I like to pull for him. He gives me a reason to go out and improve my game. Plus I know him and his family. Really great guy from a great bunch of people. Good luck to Tommy in the future.

Played 18 today. Shot a 90. Terrible on the front, but as the title says, I had a 41 on the back. Pretty good for me. Strengthening my grip has really helped me eliminate my slice. My score is showing it. My shot of the day was on a par 5. I stuck a 5 wood about 10 inches from the flag on the second shot. Around 240 yards. What a great feeling. Anyhow, just getting back into the game here in the last few weeks has been a great thing for me. Thanks again to those that have helped with my questions. My goal is to start breakin 80. I have only done this one time, a few years back. As I remember, it was pretty easy to get to mid 80's from the 90's. Any tips on what I need to focus on to get to the next level of braekin 80? Cole

Thanks for the advice. There are a few big stores in Myrtle Beach. About 2 hours from me. Maybe I should go there to swing some different clubs. PGA Superstore, Martins Golf, and a few others. These two places have nets to hit in, but how in the world will I be able to verify distance, and if I am slicing the club or not?
-
Just want to say thanks to the ones that have helped me with my previous questions. Had a bad slice, somebody steered me into the direction of going with a stronger grip. Cant express how much it helped. One simple movement of the hands, problem solved ( for the most part). Driver and irons. Amazing. Now, my question.... With all the many, many new drivers every year on the market, how in the world should somebody go about finding the one that he (or she) can hit the straightest / farthest ... the best?? I dont want to step on any toes, but I am thinking that there is alot of golf equipment purchased because of the name, or maybe they just have to have whats new. Maybe Im wrong. I dunno. If Taylor Made has a new driver, and Cobra has a new driver, and Ping has a new driver, how do I go about finding the one that I can hit the best? How do I know which shaft needs to be in my driver? I want to purchase the perfect driver. What do I need to do, to find it? Thanks fo rthe help. Cole

I have been struggling with the slice. I am a lefty also. About two weeks ago, I switched to the exact same grip that you are describing, and it has worked great for me. I dont have to line up to the right of where I want my shots to go anymore. I line up on the pin. Ball flies alot straighter. I am really excitied about how much this small adjustment has improved my game. I dont have it working perfectly yet, but it is alot better. I was debating on actually slowing my swing speed to try to help the slice problem, but now it doesnt look like I have to. I can keep my normal swing and hit it straight. I shot an 84 today, and I am thrilled. Just wanted to share.
-
Thanks for the ideas / help. I will put focus on my grip today. Try to get my hands into the correct position. If this doesnt work, then I will try to make time for a pro to take a look at my grip. I also want to find one of the clubs that has been suggested. Like I said, I am using an "off brand" driver, and I want to use something that people are saying is a good club. Heck, maybe the club I am using now, doesnt even fit my swing style. I dont know.
-
I need help in selecting a new driver. One that fits my swing style. I know that is probabally hard to give advice via the internet, but I gotta do something. I am struggling with a bad slice. It is causing me to loose distance. It is also costing me strokes during my rounds. I really want to find a driver that I can hit straighter. And fits my swing speed. I am left handed. I have a really fast swing speed. I measured it at the golf store, and the device at the tee read 126. I can work to slow this, if I have to. I have been using off brands since I started playing. I want to step up to Cobra or Taylor Made or some brand that is proven. Also, what type shaft should I be using? So, any suggestions on a driver know for great distance, and can accomidate fast swing speed would be great. Thanks for the help. Cole

I hope he does. I like his style of play.

Mine was 78. Not sure how I did it though. Typically, I shoot 85~90. Only broke 80 that one time.
