machine shot,5 balls on tees then without setting up for each shot hit each ball,i like it because when you connect right on all 5 its a sense of satisfaction,i'll have to try driving with my putter next, blasphemous i know
-
Thankfully i have never hit anybody or anything,my youngest brother practising on local school field unfortunately hit a young lad with a tee shot,he had to go to hospital, the child's mom was not best pleased, even though it was an accident,i'm very careful when children and dogs are around when i practise
-
I sympathise with the OP dilemma, why not try not starting your round with a driver, then nobody knows you hit it far with the driver, use a 1 iron or something, lie and say your useless with the woods,by the way i'm a dinky hitter so never had that problem
-
Formula, maybe cutting a few inches off your driver will help,i dont believe its drastically expensive to have it done, nevertheless if you can hit a few drives with somebody's driver and if that driver is around the same length as your 3w,and if you hit it well you know what your problem stems from, anyway your hitting the ball a fair distance with the 3w,enough to stick to the 3w,20 yds or so is barely worth worrying about,i'd like to hit my driver 250 yds but cant
-
If i can hit my 5w or 3w good then i can hit my driver good,if i'm hitting my 5w and 3w bad then i'll hit the driver bad - 3W and driver, there is nothing between them other than the driver has less loft and a longer shaft, assuming your woods are all the same make, same shaft and flex then being good with the 3W but bad with driver then that can only be due to two things, loft or length of shaft,a flatter degree on the face,or the longer shaft which may indicate the degree of the driver is too much for you,so buy a higher lofted driver {assuming you dont already use the highest degree lofted driver already},or cut the shaft down an inch so it matches up with your 3w That is the extent of my basic understanding of the problem....

Thanks for the information, for the other poster the ball is for a woman, not myself,i actually use any old tattie, long as its new and a two piece i'll use it,i find titleist last the longest, they take my hidings and mark the least
-
Actually its for my girlfriend, she has reg shafts, fast club speed for a woman but she is short in distance, more likely because she dont practise or play that much,i just thought giving her a more friendly user ball may give her more distance without need to practise that much, time is not a luxury you see
-
The best ball for a short hitter, with a low clubhead speed, and not a lot of power,ie a woman??,looking at the market for the most advantagous ball that adds distance despite, saves me a lot of googling/reading getting you guys imput

I'm on my second bag of 150 in two months,i practise a lot,i usually break them all with iron shots,question,why are they now all wooden??,when i was playing eons ago they were plastic and more or less indestructable,i much prefer those but they have to be white as i'm colour blind and cant see orange/brown/green ones {mingles with the grass}

I'm planning to visit a never before played golf course, its a threesome competition,my two brothers and one of their wives,i'm playing but wont be in the competition,i play a lot more than them so thought it unfair if i competed, winner gets some type of trophy, should be enjoyable

How about celebrity caddying??,california obviously, lots of avid celebrity golfers, how you would go about enquiring i wouldnt know, advertise yourself or get in touch directly with such celebrities, most have fan clubs,or agents,i suppose that could be an avenue to look into, simply google known celebrity golf fanatics, and take it from there

I came to this thread expecting it was about dating the time you bought your clubs,or the time they were made,so whats next?? "This is my ping 5 wood, there are many like it,but this one is mine etc etc" {full metal jacket} Anyway if i had to date a piece of metal it would be one of those taylor made irons that cost $7000 each, eek

Think i will 'blast' my clubs with the hose that cleans flags/sidewalks,its mega powerfull and will get rid of all the dirt hidden in the grooves on the face of the club

How many of you "fluff" your ball or play 6"/winter rules all the time?
njcl13 replied to formula428's topic in Golf Talk
'Fluff'??,i take that to mean moving your ball from an unfavourable lie because of winter conditions??,strange as 'fluff' in the uk means to miss hit your ball,to top it usually,my nearest course is horrendous, the only place where theres a good lie is on the tees -
When It's All Said And Done, Is A Lifetime Of Golf Really Worth It
njcl13 replied to thinblueline's topic in Golf Talk
The above post is incredulous,a silly silly remark, stating golf has more complexity, emotion, reality and importance and all that encompasses it to life, dear me -
Are you in your early 20s or late 20s??,thats when men are most competitive,i was at that age,its good you desire improvement but not to the point where every shot becomes life or death, the enjoyment disappears with having unrealistic asperations,it really depends on what your goal is in golf,ie becoming a scratch player,or being satisfied with a moderate handicap,or just playing because its a social pastime,i'm now the latter
-
I forgot to say my fav,a long iron, the 3,simply because ive never been able to use it until lately,if i needed a club of 3 iron distance i would choke down on a 5 wood,my long irons may as well not even been in the bag,not saying i'm profficient now but at least it gets airborne and usually goes where i'm aiming, well some of the time
-
What is your Favourite club??,the driver because you love booming the ball, and the feeling of elation that comes with it,maybe its a 6 iron because you love its trajectory and height and stopping it close to the pin as a second shot,or in fact it could be the wedge because chipping is your forte, the putter because the greens is where you shine??
-
I usually play with my brothers,i have played with stranger but didnt really enjoy it,probably because the guy was playing as though the world was about to end {hit hit, hit, putt, next hole}else i'll play on my own,i prefer to relax and have fun,and obviously you can be yourself with close friends or family
-
I did some practise shots today with a long iron {4i},i closed the club face on a few shots, first thing i noticed was the massive drop in flight trajectory height, and as it was windy was helpful,it ran a good 20 yds, although hooking it aided that but i forgot to alter my stance to accommodate for shutting the club face,by the way if i seem like a novice in instruction pertaining to golf i did play the game 20 or so years ago,but time erases much in the memory, and tips from others is always welcome

A par round for the OP thread
-
In practise my golf ball soars over 80 foot in height, thats with a 3 or 4 iron,i barely get any run once the ball lands,my distances are average for a person of my skill level,i think i read somewhere that pro golfers reach an average of 25 yards in height which equates to around 60 foot or so in height off their shots, therefore my shots must be seen as 'normal',i just wish i could get some extra yardage via the ball running after landing yet it hits the ground and dies and even jumps back at times ,and its also true we have had the wettest so called summer and the ground is hardly supportive to run the ball but in the open woods got 90 yds of run off a long iron and that course is only 35 mins drive from me,any tips??,10 yards of run would be a pleasant change
-
So what does a regular set of irons start with these days??,4 iron??,i'm out of sync with todays golf hence the question
-
After everytime i have used them
-
The decline of the 1 and two iron is because the average golfer cannot use them, hence manufacturers have omitted them from sets of new clubs,ie 3 - sw
