  1. Troon North-Phoenix Cog Hill #4-Suburban Chitown Reflection Bay-Henderson, NV Innisbrook-Tarpon Springs, FL Old Kinderhook-lake of the ozarks, MO Golf Club at Vistoso-Tucson Ventana Canyon-Tucson Sedona Golf Club-AZ
  2. OCN is a great choice...Falcon Fire and Celebration are fine as well.
  3. La Paloma in Tucson. Tons of forced carries, lots of slopes that kick balls into the desert. Beautiful course but not fun to play...too penal.
  4. Even lamer than "no walk" courses are ones that allow you to walk and carry, but not use a push cart. At my club, at least half of us "push", it is easy on the aging back and yet you still get the great exercise. Some courses don't allow this as it apparently is "beneath" them. Take a trip to Scotland you snobs...and you will see what the birthplace of golf thinks about "trolleys".
  5. I am tired....to death...of this coverage of Pebble Beach. Show the course, show shots, stop with the commercials for every lame show on your network. This is a great venue with great views, I don't care about Bill Murray, I want to see Pebble Beach. It makes me wish the Golf Network did all the tournaments...and I know that is no great solution.
  6. OCN IS great, but a real haul from Daytona. The Legacy at Alaqua Lakes in Lake Mary is nice and a heck of a lot closer to you.
  7. In the St Louis Metro area... Annbriar, Waterloo,IL Gateway National, East St Louis, IL Spencer T Olin, Alton, IL Quail Creek, St Louis Tapawingo, St Louis Far Oaks, Fairview Hgts,IL Pevely Farms, Eureka, MO Public golf is definitely better Metro East, private is better on the St Louis side. Prices are down and club memberships, except for the elite half a dozen are available for monthly dues with no initiation. Annual fees for quality public tracks, including some listed above, are in the $200 a month range. Great value if you are a frequent player.
  8. I think playing a decent ball with a reasonable amount of feel provides the best value. Paying $4 per ball makes no sense to me...the Top Flite Feel or Gamer work just fine for a fraction of what the high end balls cost.
  9. I have the 56 and the 60 spin milled...supposedly the exanded line was released in October, but I can find them...well, nowhere. Not online or in the big retailers like Dick's or Golf Galaxy, any info?
  10. Carts do not speed up play. My group plays in 3 1/2 hrs every sat/sun and we all walk. Slow play is caused by a bunch of factors...walking isn't one of them.
  11. About 40% of the players at my club use a push cart. The places that don't allow them are pretending to be higher class, when actually using a "trolley" is the preferred way to play golf where it started. It is elitist BS. Get out of your cart and get some exercise. Oh, and definitely stop building courses that include walks of 3 to 500 yards between holes.
  12. The desert definitely...but skip the Valley of Smog, er, Phoenix and head to the Tucson area. Vistoso, Ventana, Del Lago, AZ National...cheaper and the city is less congested.
  13. Hogan battled the same problem and fixed it by fanning the clubface open as far as possible on takeaway, this allowed him to release as hard as he could on the downswing without the possibility of hooking. Try it, it works.
  14. I like the profile of the 08 version better, seems to set up more readily to my eye. Also, it seems to be a bit more forgiving than the 07.
  15. I played last years model, then switched to this years. I like it a lot and hit a bunch of drivers before choosing it. If you have an issue with too much fade or slice...stay away as it will magnify those problems. I have a stock Fujikura 60 stiff shaft.
  16. With the crash of the Vegas economy there HAS to be a lot of bargains out there for good golf. If you can find a good price Reflection Bay is awesome.
  17. There are tons of Palmer company designed courses. Mr Palmer has not been doing much design work for some time. The Palmer designs tend to be less penal than Nicklaus or Dye, and less ostentatious than Fazio courses. They can get boring at times but I have found them to be quite playable. My favorite designer group is Moorish/Weiskopf.
  18. Like most TPC courses it is overpriced. Good layout but not worth the usual price. OK at a lower price, but spend the money at Troon North, Greyhawk or Talking Stick before going here.
  19. 49 degree Titleist Tour Dynamic Gold S300 Vokey Spin Milled 56 and 60, going to add the 52 when they are released this fall.
  20. Two courses fit your description...Kaneohe Bay and Navy Marine. I lived for 12 years 10 minutes from Kaneohe, and back then (way back) you had to play with someone with privileges on the military installations.
  21. Vistoso is best bet but closed for green redo... Ventana Canyon is awesome... Arizona National, yes. No on Starr Pass or The Pines, not crazy about Tucson National either, very ordinary.
  22. Troon North, AZ Reflection Bay, NV Ventana Canyon, AZ Pinehurst #2, NC Old Warson, MO
  23. Same blades in my bag for 21 years, not likely to change at this point.
  24. Troon North Make the trip to Sedona...incredibly beautiful and a fun course to boot.
  25. Fair enough...I hit about 10 times with each one and did not miss one. I wish it was because I am so great off the tee , but that is not it. Guess this is why there are so many different drivers out there.
