Heavier club head = ball goes farther?
Snakey replied to hamletsdead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Nearly 64 posts (not you onesome) of hot air and pontification , flopping it out and saying mines bigger than yours ...brain that is...did anybody simply answer the OP ? Simply being the operative word! -
How in the heck could you keep your mind on the game with a caddy like this? ....unless you play for the other team.

Broke 100 and 90 both for the first time in one round today!
Snakey replied to IronwoodGolfer's topic in Golf Talk
I remember the first time I broke 100 ....and then I played the other 9. but seriously that's a great milestone ,keep up the work ethic and the 80's aren't far away. -
I think we all have too much time on our hands. LOL .

Actually Samuel Clemens said it as Samuel Clemens...see I learned to read gooded too....gradeated sixth grade

When I started this thread I certainly wasn't disparaging people whether through injury or bad backs or knees are using carts to keep playing a great game or temperature extremes...100+...or golfing on courses a mountain goat would have trouble on but the able bodied on a relatively flat course given a choice between cart or walking take the easy option ,golf is supposed to be a good walk spoiled not ridden over IMHO.

After posting a few photo's of Pebble Beach on another thread I got to wondering about how much I would pay for green fees....Pebble Beach $495 with cart for guests ,$360 at Spyglass .Which begs the question what's the most you have paid for a round you have played and what you would be willing to pay....my limit would be $50 but that's just my Scottish heritage kicking in.

I have found 3 in the last 6 months when people take a wedge and putter and then leave the wedge behind after finishing the hole.I pick it up and carry it in case the owner comes back looking but if they don't just drop it at the pro shop saying which hole I found it on so they can be sure of who owns it when they come looking.

Can a new shaft make all the difference?
Snakey replied to flip4000's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You did not specify which type stock shaft is on your driver but it could be any number of reasons for your problem besides the shaft...teeing too high ,a spinny ball or your swing itself but I'm sure some others on this site are more qualified than me to point you in the right direction. -
Congratulations on your great score .I personally ....cannot only play 9 holes,I know some people are time poor and others play twilight golf but to me 9 holes is like walking away from a beer halfway through...shudder..or stopping halfway through a **** , it defeats the purpose of being there. You never know what could have been... 10 under for 18 or a bogey ridden back 9.Is this fast food golf ?

Just how overhyped are grips?
Snakey replied to Used2PlayALot's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Once you have got the gear it takes about a minute tops ...once you have got the old tape off....also check out Golfworks online they have Black Widow grips at 99c.I've just bought a set and they are great and if they are not for you at 99c you haven't lost big time at $7 a grip on some others. -
I'll bet you were first in line at the bumper cars at the carnival !

My Nickent 3DX rc 2H 17* is my go to club ,cannot play a bad shot with it....PS.you should get those things in your avatar looked at,they look painful.

Just what I said. Beats me how 2 people walking at 2k/hr can push 2 people in a cart at 20k/hr.

Has golf gotten more or less popular in the last 10 years?
Snakey replied to Used2PlayALot's topic in Golf Talk
While I think the OP was talking local you only have to look at Asia to see that golf has exploded over there.New golf courses being built virtually every week in China , Asian women dominating ?the LPGA and if you look at the leaderboards on Golf.com you will see flags of countries that 10 years ago would not know what a golf ball looked like.So in the long run I think golf on the up. -
Poll: Do you play on a public or private course?
Snakey replied to Used2PlayALot's topic in Golf Talk
Mainly public now but a few years ago I was a member of a semi-private and as others have said you feel compelled to play exclusively there to get your monies worth plus I felt I was getting in a rut playing the same course 2-3 times a week .Now I try to play a different course every week...there are six within a 20 mile radius of me. -
I personally...prefer walking the fairways as you get a feel for the course ...slope ,gradient plus the health quotient.I personally.. cannot see the sense of people saying they play golf for their health while riding in a cart .I surmise they have carts to increase the throughput of people on the course generating more money but with hackers zig-zagging all over the fairway it negates their purpose therefore banking up players behind and the only exercise they get is lifting their butt in and out of the cart.I personally.. would like to know others take on this.

Has golf gotten more or less popular in the last 10 years?
Snakey replied to Used2PlayALot's topic in Golf Talk
While the economy has had an effect I think golf has maintained it's popularity and with the young players coming through .....Rory,Ricky Fowler and others.... kids still see golf as an option. Not everyone has the skills to play Football or soccer and team numbers are limited anyway. At one of the courses I play I have noticed schoolkids playing as a school sport instead of the aforementioned ..the teachers with them getting paid to play ..dream job.But the point is out of say twenty kids , two or three will get the bug and continue to play beyond school sport plus a lot of younger players....20's , 30's.... after their bodies and skills can't handle Football or soccer anymore.. are still athletic enough for golf so I don't think golf is in decline . -
Not a live music fan but way back when a girlfriend dragged me along to a Bette Midler concert and I think Katy Sagal was one of the backup singers....the Harlettes.

I Usually Lose to a Friend with a 'No-Good' Swing
Snakey replied to pal7373's topic in Welcome, Everyone
It really doesn't matter if your swing looks like a fiddler crab doing the Macarena , as long as it works.....low scores. There's no points for the latest fashion shirt ,latest and greatest clubs and no points for a "technically" correct swing....the only numbers that matter are on the card.
