  1. Michiganders. Western Michigan Golf Show this weekend at DeVoss Hall in Grand Rapids. You want info, that's the place to get it. I've gone the last 2 years. We usually make a run to Galaxy Golf up off 28th street too. Just an idea for the weekend. http://www.showspan.com/WMG/Home.aspx
  2. Take a look on ebay for Cobra 3400I's in Graphite for about $200 in really good condition. My dad bought a set and hits them great.
  3. Best looking to me is the Callaway X-Forged. Works of art.
  4. I do the same thing. If the fairways are not rock hard, I get very little roll. My problem is I have a steep swing, which causes a rather high ball flight. I hit it around 250, so I don't complain too much. I'm working on a better backswing, but I really could use some lessons.
  5. Just to add mine
  6. I put a roman numerial 3 ( III ) above the brand. Yes, I'm a "3rd".
  7. 210 would be a #3 Hybrid for me. Smooth swing should put it right on the money
  8. I actually grew up in Galesburg, MI, which is only about 6 miles from Gull Lake. I played Yarrow on my birthday last year and had a great time. It's a top notch course. My dad is my golf buddy and he's been itching to play in Mt. Pleasant. My parents like the casino up there, but mom won't let dad hit the course while they are up there. While we were up in Traverse City, the leaves just started turning. It's kind of a crap shoot making the trip later in September or early October with the weather. It only rained one evening we were there.
  9. Big_M, my dad and I stayed at Shanty Creek last fall and played. It was so much fun (and such a bargin) we are doing it again this fall. We are looking to play The Legend, Cedar River, The Torch and High Pointe, which is a little south. You can't beat a package that is under $260 (per person) for 2 nights stay and 4 courses. We played The Chief twice the one full day we were there because the replay rate was $20 TO RIDE! Also looking to visit Pohlcat and Buck's Run in Mt. Pleasant for a stay-and-play. Jeepthrills, I feel your pain. I have not been on a course since the begining of November. Last year I played into the first week of January. Snow sucks.
  10. I normally use my Cleveland 10.5 Staff bag. It's the White, Black and Gold colors from 3-4 years ago. I bought it new last spring on sale. When I go light weight, I use a black Titleist stand bag I picked up at Goodwill for $5.00 that was in perfect condition, except for a broken leg. I replaced the tube legs with solid Aluminum and polished them. Great bag.
  11. I'm going to add a few that were not mentioned. In the Traverse City area: Hawk's Eye and The Chief are very good courses that take you through the woods and away from it all. The Sundance course at A-Ga-Ming is something to behold. You can't go wrong here. They should issue you a rake when you tee off. 120 sand traps. Kalamazoo Area: Angels Crossing in Vicksburg, Yarrow in Augusta, and Lake Doster north of Kalamazoo. SW by Lake Michigan: Ravines in Saugatuck, Hawkshead is South Haven and Whittacker Woods in New Buffalo. I've played most of these. The others I've been to and photographed.
  12. I'll post a link to some pictures of my visit to Arcadia Bluffs when I up-load them tonight. We visited in September.
  13. I like the look of the blade but have had trouble controling it. I use a Heavy Putter B3-M Mallet. Before that was a Odyssey 2-ball center shaft. It was too lite. I have a few Ping blades and a Cameron, but just can't contol them. Too much Caffeine!
  14. I was watching his first round "high" lights from India. It's time to see a Sports Psychologist for sure. He was behind a screen of some sort an asked for it to be removed. Didn't happen and he let it bother him for the next 10 minutes. He should be thinking of the shot he has, not the one he didn't get. He also made my FT-i driver look pretty bad as he blew a shot right a mile.
  15. I love my Cleveland CG10 lob. I practiced with that club 1/2 hour a day for 2 months last spring. What I did learn is my back swing and follow through need to be an equal distance. Once I figured that out, I have no fear using it over sand or water, even out of sand.
  16. "The Open" by John Feinstein. Any Feinstein book really, "A Good Walk Spoiled" and "The Majors" are good reads and I'm looking to get "Tales from Q School" soon. I have "Caddy For Life", but haven't read it yet.
  17. I buy stuff off Ebay all the time. Between my dad and I we've gotten 5 drivers, two 5-woods, 2 sets of irons, my whole set of wedges and 2 putters. Also really cheap used balls, head covers and a bunch of new shafts. The only knock off I got is a R7 425 head from China. Which I figured was a fake. It has a serial number and looks perfect. I hit the damn thing 260-270 yards, so I really can't complain about it... Sample My FT-I (new) $208.00, Big Bertha 5 wood $16.01, 822OS Irons $198-ish for 3-SW, Set of 3 CG10's (new) $229.00. 30 DT SOLO used $6.50. A Cleveland Highbore (new) $86.00. My Nike Sasquatch 5 wood with V2 used $61.00. Aldila NV shafts for $36.00 (new uncut). Irod hybrid shafts (new) $17.50 each. Plus shipping on all that. I've never had a problem with anything.
  18. 11 degree in the bag and 9.5 on stand by (when I'm out by myself, they are both in the bag).
  19. I'd think it would save you 3-4. You would know what clubs to use, when bunkers come into play if you try to strech a drive, that kind of stuff. It helps to know the greens too. Where a ridge or dip might be. Where not to land.
  20. Dick's Sporting Goods is Mishawaka, IN is having a Nike Demo Day this Saturday. I would think that would be a company wide type of event. You can try one of their new sticks and talk to the rep. Don't know if they have any freebie items, which is always a plus. I'm always game to visit for a 2 pack of balls.
  21. I have a Nike Sasquatch 3 wood (Factory Diamana) that stays in the bag. I also alternate a Sasquatch 5 wood (V2 shaft) and a Callaway Big Bertha (steel shaft). I've been more consistant with the Callaway, so it's in there now.
  22. I had the same problem. My Nike solved that for me. The shallow face really helped. I hit that sucker a mile off the tee too! Just a suggestion.
  23. I find myself in bed at night trying to picture the order of holes on golf courses I've played. I can't recall # 7 at Hawk's Eye up in Northern Michigan. I should check the web site, but that's no fun. Needless to say, I have golf on my mind a lot too!
  24. I've only bought a few new golf balls. 1 box of B330S - 1 box of MoJo - 1 box of TaylorMade TP Black - 3 boxes od Callaway balls they sell at Walmart that are not Hex pattern ($10 a box). Everything else is either used, refurbished, found or from a golf outing.
  25. I had to look around to figure that one out too. Go into the where you edit your signature. On the right hand side are a bunch of smiley faces. Click the {more} tab under them and scroll down. You'll see them.
