Anyone ever bought and used these? Pretty heavy advertising during the day on Golf Channel.

My wife recently took up golf last year and we sometimes go to the range together. Inevitably sometime afterward she always comments on someone else who 'looked good' - as in they knew how to swing a club and should she try and incorporate that. And most times I don't have any clue as to who she watched. I used to be like her, but I thankfully am long past the mimic stage of my golf evolution. When I go to the range, I typically work on the drill at hand (I'm taking lessons right now) in addition to a certain aspect to my game; short, chips, hybrids. etc. I really don't pay attention to others. For the most part. But recently I have noticed the last few times that once I'm at the bottom of my bucket, I am less focused at this point on what I am trying to do find I am checking out my range neighbors. But the intent is different. I'm looking at the guy's tempo. I try and figure out if he is working on something specifically or just hacking. What is his body type, does he have any glitches in his swing etc. So I winder, what do you pick up on if and when you watch someone at the range?

Going to Golftec tonight......
RoyHotPower replied to bjwestner's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
For me GolfTEC has been very worthwhile. I signed up for a 25 lesson pack becuase of the % savings/lesson. Back when I played routinely, I historically experienced flaws in my mechanics that would come and go and seeing them again last summer after a long layoff I knew I wanted something other than a couple of lessons (which worked short term in the past). What I have developed at GolfTEC is a relationship in that my coach knows my mechanics now and that has helped me tremendously. And as VegasRenegade pointed out, the practice sessions with video is essential to break bad habits; at least in my case. All that being said I understand the price barrier for most; self included. But I knew that I would probably quit golf completely if I didn't get past the problems I had that made the game miserable more often than not. -
This isn't a diss or rant against dozu, but when I quit golf 10 years ago, it was precisely because of the 1000 pieces of advice that were readily available. I was in the mold of the self taught golfer that after a few years actively sought advice from anyone that seemed to be capable of imparting wisdom - be they a casual player, club pro, instructor at a community college or 3 weekend session with a card carrying instructor. I can't imagine being in that same place with the advent of YouTube, self taught packages and the advances in technology since 2002. Which is why I opted for one coach like I did now that I am back into golf. But to dozu's point, I have an 'unconventional' body type and therefore do not possess the classic golf swing. My coach is helping me use what I naturally have. There are certain things I now know that I would not be able to replicate in a 'one swing fits all' approach. For me this is all working. He has mentioned a few things to me in terms of technique and body style that I have investigated further on my own, but so far its as an addition to the concept. So, once I complete my lessons will I go back and look at other offerings? Possibly. But for right now I'm wearing the horse blinders.

Since you are working with an instructor, you should ask your coach what to do. That's a lot to digest though (5 things to think about at once it sounds like?). I had a similar type question once several lessons ago; after a few lessons, I was also now thinking of several things though as well. So I asked him. He said do the drills until they become muscle memory. Once muscle memory is achieved, we'd focus on something else/new. I had been and this just reassured me. Now I ask if I have questions when something new is introduced. I guess I am adding more to my initial response. Make sure your get clear instructions from your coach.

old intro here: I recently switched from RN to LH and am in the process up swapping out clubs in my bag as a result. I just got the Nike VR wedges on eBay at a sweet deal. Anyone have these? The irons are well reviewed, but not so much the wedges. These are replacing Cleveland CG16s of the same loft. I loved those clubs and they were the best part of my game.

but the real travesty was the Rangers. Granted the writing was on the wall in the way they finished the season; but to just mail it in? I give props to the Os though. They wanted it and took it. Suks today living in Dallas metro area. What do they do in the offseason? No need to blow it up, but need to make significant changes.

agree - the call was a non-issue. Loved how the fans got involved. stay classy Atlanta

Cards advance. I was really surprised how they did in one and done formation.dominant.

yes TBD

So dsc123 has weighed in with the Yanks over the Nats in the Fall Classic. Sound picks really - the Yankees never gave up 1st place in the East, and the Nats could be considered a team of destiny. CC is dominating and the Nats are legit. Anyone else? I'll start with the one and done teams tomorrow: I think the Rangers will eek out a win tomorrow over the Showalter lead Os. The Os are hot, but the Rangers have been focused all season long on getting back to the Classic. 'Make the post season' was their only goal in the regular season and while sluggish the last 2 weeks, they did that. Yu brings energy, and look for him to go 7 innings and hurl 125 pitches if necessary to set the pace. Os will lose a 1 run game as the Rangers have a big chip on their shoulder and a resume that isn't complete. The Hotlanta Braves suffered the last 6 weeks of 2011 due to a depleted bullpen, and rectified that this year locking up the first wild card slot. But they face St Louis who eliminated them last season. Going with the conventional wisdom of those who get hot late in the season, I like the Cards on strength of schedule alone. Both went 7-3 down the stretch, but the Cards did so against playoff bound Reds and Nats. The Braves faced disappointing Miami and Pittsburgh. Veteran lineup and they will be patient against Medlen to work his pitch count insures Redbird Nation of advancing.

I would agree but we have the best hitter award. It's the Hank Aaron award, which also is ambiguous at best http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Aaron_Award This didn't really solve anything either as everyone began to debate the criteria of hitter. Final say so: for 40+ years we're heard that the Triple Crown winner would never happen again, much like hitting above .400. Well, Migs did it. His team made it to the post season (I know this isn't supposed to be a factor, but c'mon). And lets not even get into post season performance. If MLB was really serious about that, the awards would be handed out tomorrow before post season begins.

Another way to look at this. The basic criteria for MVP has been such an ambiguous debate, at least in my generation. How does one define value? Well, in this instance (and we are assuming it will go to Trout or Cabrera (Beltre, Cano and others are having a great year yet aren't in the national conversation), I think there is an interesting angle to consider this year that doesn't happen very often. the V in MVP: Value. Let's look at the word Value itself. At the beginning of the year, great value was placed on Cabrera. He was expected to be very valuable to the Tigers and was so. Trout on the other hand was not on the roster and was an unknown commodity. He had high expectations, but his value couldn't be rated as there was no baseline (consider former Texas' can't miss prospect Adrian Gonzalez. He was blocked by Mark Teixeira at first and had to find a home in San Diego before his value could be approximated into realistic expectations). So there was real and expected value considerations on Cabrera before the season began. There were hopes and expectations that Trout would be better than an average player, but as he had no major league level body of work, his value was unknown. thoughts?

Anyone care to make bold predictions for the post season? World Series Champions? One and done winners (Baltimore at Texas, St Louis at Atlanta)? Every possible series outcome? I'll say this. The Reds and Rangers don't look as formidable as they did 3 weeks ago. And no team looks rock solid unbeatable.

160 out of 162 games played at a new position AND claiming the triple crown??? Give Cabrera the MVP. Trout set the bar for a phenomenal career out of the gate, and his stat line is remarkable. But what were his expectations? The URP category doesn't yet exist (Unheralded Rookie Phenom), but maybe it will now. Cabrera had to continue to grind in 2 of 3 unrelated offensive areas late in the season and he did. Again, Cabrera deserves the MVP

Nickent Golf- 4DX Evolver Driver
RoyHotPower replied to Kiwi Hacker's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I wanted something cheap as I learn to play LH, and loved the reviews here, so just picked up a new 10.5 degree 4DX Evolver from RBG at $39.95. thanks guys! Wrench was not included. Is the wrench that it takes specific to the head, or can I pick up a generic wrench? -
Here are two images. My wife shot video, but she was holding the recorder on it's side and I don't know if there is a way to rotate the video 90 degrees This is the clench ball with the knees drill. I do this similarly to the clenched ball with the arms drill. In this drill, I take a practice swing (holding an iron) five times, then simulate the resistance with an actual swing. Repeat

no advice or ideas here, but I'm curious to see what people say. My wife is the opposite of your girlfriend: 5' 2" and she owns regular shaft length Adams. I've noticed the more times she swings in an outing, the more she adjusts her address and out of whack she gets. Then bam! she makes a swing that jolts her lower back. I'm convinced she needs fitting too, but as I have never been fitted either, I don't have a point of reference. I'm planning on getting fitted myself at some point, but until then...

Long story short: I'm switching from RH clubs to LH clubs and have the choice to get either set used for less than $100. This will probably only be a short lived set as I hope to upgrade sometime next year, but since I only have an R9 six iron right now, I am in the market so I can play some during the fall. I was wondering if anyone else had any comments about either? I've never owned either brand in terms of irons, and won't really have the chance to try them. As for the R9, I like it, but don't love it. The weight seems odd if that makes any sense. Prior to my switch I had some ancient blades, but converted to Mizuno JPX-800s earlier this year. Again, the LH conversion is all new to me, so I don't have any habits or expectations.
