  1. The Ogio Grom is hands down the best bag. I just bought one and I couldn't be happier with it.
  2. Congrats! I much prefer walking over riding in a cart. I carry several granola bars or some fruit in my bag that I eat through my round as well as drinking lots of water. If I feel tired, I just grab a granola bar and I'm good to go.
  3. It is listed as the 2nd hardest hole on the handicap, but it plays the hardest. #8 486 yard par 5. I is deceivingly straight forward. Elevated tee box with a very slight dogleg right that only comes into play on your second shot if you don't put it out there far enough on the drive. The rest of the hole plays uphill gaining about 15 feet in elevation from the fairway to the green. If that weren't enough, the prevailing wind is ALWAYS in your face. So, 486 yards uphill with a constant wind in your face makes it feel a lot longer than it really is. It is the only hole on the course that makes me wish I had about an 8* driver because with my 10.5* driver I just watch that ball catch the wind, stall and fall out of the sky nearly straight down.
  4. Harpoon UFO, most hefeweizen brews, and this seasonal brew, Cream Ale, by Terrapin When I'm out playing gigs in the bars, it's usually free PBR, which suits me just fine too.
  5. I agree wholeheartedly.
  6. The course I'm a member of lets its members walk for free (greens fees for the year are included in membership rates). So, I walk several times a week and I am able to get through a round in less than three hours; 2 1/2 hours is pretty standard for me. I'd rather walk because it means I can get through rather quickly.
  7. Even the PGA Superstore has MAYBE 1/4 the selection compared to righty's. It's not so big over in the lefty's section.
  8. Ah...such a shame. You should join us natural lefty's on the right side of the ball. The grass is greener over here.
  9. Fake or not, the whole PGA tour is a sort of Soap Opera. In that regard, each player has their own role that they play for our entertainment. If it weren't Phil playing the uber-wholesome family type with skeletons in his closet we would find someone else. A whole bunch of stuff that goes on and around the tour seems like PR and preening. Everyone seems to have their own unique/gimmicky way of differentiating themselves. Phil wants/strives/pretends to be the guy people could bring home to visit the parents. It's lame and a bit hokey, but whatever. Personally, I like Camillo Villegas' "fake-ness." It's at least funny to watch him crawl around. That being said, I voted no for only one ridiculously and arbitrary reason; we both stand on the same side of the ball and golfers of our ilk need to stick together (and even then, he's not a proper lefty. He just golfs that way). Dang, I've been sucked in and hoodwinked by his conniving ways. I have seen the light. I agree and change my vote. Phil is a fake lefty. What an illegitimate child.
  10. I threw my five iron into the woods one time with no intentions of ever going to look for it. I was playing my last round with this particular set of clubs as I was going to buy a nicer, newer set the next day (a decision made well before I became angry enough to throw the club) and the whole time I foolishly was thinking that my poor play was a result of these "crappy old clubs." So, on #17 after I chunked my first five iron shot about twenty feet and then slicing the second shot deep into the woods on the second shot, I sent the five iron deep into the woods after the ball with a string of expletives following it. That felt good until I turned around and saw the disappointed look on my golf buddy's face, then I felt like a huge putz. Now, I don't throw, toss, bag slam, or hit the ground/cart path with my club. I try my best to play the game as a gentleman and act accordingly.
  11. I can live with bad tee shots; I just hit my 3 wood until I'm no longer mad at my poor driver play, which might be the rest of the round. Poor putting is more disappointing, but the thing that sends my mood south in a hurry is a poor short game. If it takes me two or more shots on the approach - chunking a chip five feet or flying a lob back and forth or skulling the ball sending it into the next fairway - I'm mentally done with that hole and might as well pick up the ball and move on.
  12. Score 90: Everyone has to start somewhere. I'm hoping that a year from now I'll be a bogey golfer and anticipating scores in the low 80's. The Annual Golf Retreat: Every year 12 to 16 of my friends go on a golf trip. I went this year and was the D golfer in my foursome. I want to improve my standing to be at least the C golfer in my foursome. Straighten the Shots: More Consistency My slice has become a reliable fade. I'd like that to become a straight shot; long and true. 150 Yards and In: I want to improve my game from the 150 yard marker and in. This is where I expect to see my improved score coming from. Putting: Turn three putts into two puts and two putts into a one putt. Keep a Proper Handicap: I've never calculated my handicap and only have a general idea of what it is. This year I'm going to keep my handicap and use it to measure my improvement in the coming years. Work With the HS Golf Team: There are a lot of good kids I teach who are good golfers. I'd like to get out on the course more and spend some time helping with the golf team.
  13. Ha ha...that is me too only I don't have as many dividers. Now I'm having divider envy. Top: 1, 3, 5 woods (naturally the driver in the center with the two shorter ones on either side) Mid Left: 3-6 Mid Right: 7-PW Bottom Left: LW Bottom Middle: Putter Bottom Right: SW The only consistency on the course is my bag and the ball I play (and my inconsistent shots)
  14. I have quite a few tattoos and one full 1/2 sleeve (shoulder to elbow and all the way around) that I'm presently working on; no golf tattoos though. I would definitely support those who reccomend you think a while on it. I do not regret anything I've had inked, but each tattoo was about a year long decision making process. What I would reccomend also would be to go to a reputable artist even if it is a drive and pricey. Don't go to some hole-in-the-wall joint. You will get what you pay for. Then, once you have found an artist, give him or her your ideas and see if maybe they can offer you some insight and design ideas. Tattoos begin to fade and the ink will slowly spread with time. You don't want your tattoo of a golf ball to look like a sphere of swiss cheese in 15 years. Also, white ink fades out the quickest because it is the lightest. In a year, I would be surprised if you could still see the white ink. I hope this helps. Good luck with your decision.
  15. Most days I am a high school English teacher. There are a couple of months in the summer when I become a professional slacker.
