  1. I'm thinking of buying the TaylorMade RBZ 3W. Would appreciate your experience with this club, is the hype real or just marketing BS?
  2. I dropped the driver from my bag and use a 3W. I hit my 3W as long as most guys I play with hit their drivers and most of the time I'm on the fairway while their in the woods. Also, since I use the 3W off the tee all the time I am very comfortable with it, so on the fairway I hit it as good as off the tee. On par 5's I'm usually chipping on in 3. If the hybrid works for you, go with it, your logic is sound. Regards the fourth wedge, I use a pitching (48*), gap (52*) and a sand wedge (56*). Those three wedges sharre all I need. I have a lob wedge (60*) but I never use it. If I need a flop shot over a trap with little green to work with I use my sand wedge, works fine for me.
  3. I'm not big on gimmicks but I purchased a training aid called the "Slice Eliminator" on line (under $30) and have been using it at the range. It prevents the over the top or out side in swing path which stops your slice. If you swing out side in you'll hit the training aid. You could make one yourself but who has the time. It works for any club in the bag, really good with irons. Look it up on line and see what you think.
  4. I know everyone posts these great scores, I can only tell you that I sucked today! Pulled everything to the left. I wont bother telling you my score.
  5. OK, so I just came in from playing 18. At the range yesterday I could not have hit them straighter, not today. Pulled everything from my drives to my irons to the left. I tried everything and nothing worked. I know you shouldn't try to fix your swing on the course but when all else fails...... I'm playing in a tournament tomorrow so I'm in need of some serious help.
  6. I play Bethpage all the time (I live on Long Island), although not the black, usually the blue or the green, so I know something about the course. I was at The Barclays on Friday, I too followed Tiger and Rory for a while. Saw Tiger hurt his back in that sand trap. One thing you don't get from watching it on TV is the elevation changes, the hills and valleys these guys are playing through! They make it look easy, but hitting those shots when the ball is above or below you feet, or the uphill and downhill lies, to elevated green...... it is tough! I'm playing the black in October when my brother comes up for a visit. He is a scratch golfer and wants to play it. I'm worried, you have to bring your "A" game and not let up. There are hole where you have to carry your drive 220, which for me is a problem. I guess I bring a lot of extra balls, LOL.
  7. Director of Program Management for a defense contractor. Four years until retirement. don't want to wish my life away but........... can't wait.
  8. Wait till it happens to you on the course, that really sucks! I've been playing for thirty years and it still happens, thank God not that often but it happens. I tend to come over the top (outside in) so I purchased the "Slice Eliminator". I take it to the range and it really works. It forces you to use an inside out swing, otherwise you hit the darn thing. I'll hit 30 to 40 balls with the irons, then go to the hybrids and up to the fairway woods and driver. It helps you get in that groove and stay there. Like someone said earlier, you can probably make one but for the $30 bucks or so I found to be worth it.
  9. My game is finally getting to the point where the type of ball I play will matter. I'm going to buy the Srixon Q star and give them a try. They were recommended to me, we'll see.
  10. Was at the Barclays on Friday, great day. Saw all the big dogs out there, wish I had half their skill. Tiger hurt his back, looked like he was in pain.
  11. Posting a video would help. Do you top the ball at all or just hit off the toe? My friend hits off the toe because he lifts up, i.e., he doesn't stay down through his swing. He also tops the ball a lot on the fairway, has a heck of a time with his fairway woods.
