Yesterday was the first time I was able to get out on the course this year. Because of the cold temps, our local courses were not able to open up until this past weekend. Along with the cold temps, the lakes around the course still had ice on them. There is one hole that you need to hit over the water onto a green along the edge of the lake. I swung my wedge and got too far under the ball and it came up short, but instead of sinking to the bottom of the lake, it bounced off the ice and landed on the rough on the other side. The guys I played with had never seen anyone do that before. Anyone else ever had a shot like this?

I get the same feeling. Phelps pisses me off because he has one of the best teachers in the world (debatable) instructing him, but doesn't seem to give a rip. He doesn't practice and is just lazy as hell. I would love to see the next Haney project be a true amateur, not a celebrity. This would be awesome.

My first lesson, would like your input!
Joshsmit56001 posted a topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
So I had my first lesson on Wednesday with a pga pro. I was impressed with what he did and I am excited to work on the things he gave me to work on. This is how it went: Spent about 5-10 minutes warming up and having him check out my swing before he said anything. First thing he did was ask about what my swing and the issues I was having with it and where I wanted to go with it. Looked at my posture, grip, and setup to make sure he didn't need to make adjustments before going forward. Let me know that I needed to transfer my weight on my feet throughout my swing because I was not doing this and was not using my lower body as well as I needed to. Took some video of my swing and went through the other areas I needed to work on, keeping it simple. One of the other areas he wanted me to work on was to try and lessen my backswing as I go past parallel and I can suffer on consistency ny doing this. Did some drills where he moved the ball forward in my stance so I would have to "transfer weight forward" to be able to hit the ball still and not the ground. I felt this was a great drill to try and get me to transfer my weight onto my forward leg. Finished with telling me to work on those couple things and to practice! He emphasized that I needed to practice even without a ball to make sure that I am ready to move forward at my next lesson. He also said that it was up to me to call him to setup the next lesson when I was ready. Overall I really liked the way he taught. I liked how he did not give me too many things to work on and my mind did not feel cluttered. I know exactly what 2 things to practice and feel like I am moving forward and will get better. This first lesson was inside too so I could focus on the movements of the swing, and not so much of where the ball goes. Lastly, I liked how he told me that it was up to me to contact him when I felt I was ready for the next lesson as this puts me in the drivers seat of doing the next lesson when I felt I was ready, as people move at different speeds. I think that it is important to feel comfortable with the person you are taking lessons from and I drive 1 hour to go to this guy because of what I have seen from him. I talked to a pga pro that was closer to me and all he said was "we will get you out and start working on your short game" and I felt like he didn't care about what I wanted to work on and I was just another lesson that he does the same with every other golfer. Even though he might be closer, I did not like the first impression I got from him. Is this what others have experienced in lessons? -

I am not sure how well they play yet simply because I have not been able to play them much yet. I plan on upgrading the shafts eventually and getting fitted for them. -

They have great on the simulator, haven't been able to hit them on the range yet because of the weather in the midwest. I have been very happy on the simulator so far though. -
NICKENT F26 Fairway Wood

I have the nickent 3dx hybrids and love them. Easy to heat and I have gotten great distances with them. Replaced my 3 wood with the 17* -
I think the fedex way is the best because you can insure your clubs and don't need a hard case. On the cost, I am not sure how much it is but it can't be more than what the airline would charge and the convenience of it is nice too. I am going to play one of the Disney courses in december and I am planning on using fedex to send my clubs.

I would get so mad having to hit just a tee for an hour! I would say "F%^& this" and walk away. LOL

Looking at both. I can get the 2012 model for about $10 less over the 2013 version. I know there are some changes to the materials in the new model. Are you changes to the new version worth the additional money?

I have a mickey mouse head on mine. Just use a sharpie to do 1 big circle and 2 small circles. I am a big Disney fan so I have the same thing on top of my r11s white driver, have a Mickey towel, and my ball marker is a coin from Disney world. Makes me think of the happiest place on earth and a reminder to just have fun.

I entered. Maybe I will win. I have the R11s and I love it.

I am getting some new hybrids but the are coming without covers. What are the best covers out there for hybrids? I also really like the look of old school knit covers. Thanks

I purchased the set and I am excited to get them. Have to wait until I can hit up a virtual range before I can give any feedback since I live in the great white north! -
What virtual golf course would you play?

I am in need of some hybrids and I can get a heck of a deal on the Nickent 3DX DC hybrids. I know they are older models but for the price I am interested. It is the following clubs: Nickent 3DX DC Hybrid Pack, includes 4 total clubs #2(17*), #3(20*), #4(23*0 and #5(26*). Clubs are fitted with Grafalloy Hybrid Stiff flex shafts and Tour Velvet style grips. Are these hybrids a good brand and model? I am about a 15 handicap but I swing my woods pretty well. Getting better at my irons. Gonna replace my 3 and 4 irons with hybrids and also use the 17* and 20* to replace some woods. Have the newer models of hybrids from varying manufactures changed so much over the last few years that it has made a huge difference in the clubs? Have you or anyone you know said anything about the nickent hybrid clubs? I appreciate your input! Josh

Are certain simulators better than others? I would assume the better the technology the more realistic it would be. I was thinking I wanted to play either Bethpage black or Augusta. TPC Sawgrass would be awesome too! -
My goal is to break 80 and play in more tournaments. My buddy and I are tried to break 80 and whoever gets under 80 first gets a package of personalized "1st under 80" Pro V1 balls.

Looking at playing in some golf simulators during the winter season here in MN. I am looking at the hi def golf simulators and was curious what course you would suggest? Thanks, Josh

Not necessarily true. Just need to make sure it is a legit eBay seller. See link below for Taylormade authorized eBay sellers. I just bought my R11s from empire-golf which is on this list so aim not worried it is a fake and if it is, I can take it up with Taylermade. http://taylormadegolf.com/authorizedebay/authorizedebay,en_US,pg.html Josh
