Good at the driving range, crap on the course...
TANK replied to nico002's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Same problem here man, until I started doing two things differently..... 1. When I go to the range now, I focus on a specific target/situation/shot as if I were on the course....I put pressure on myself to make the shot as If I was playing a scored round. 2. I realized that a big part of why I was awesome at the range, and junk on the course...is because I never really focused on what I was doing at the range to make myself hit the ball well. Basically I went to the range and started swinging until shots started going where I wanted, I never focused on specific mechanical things that I could replicate on the course. So now when I go to the range I develop mental checkpoints in my swing that I can duplicate on the course....this has been tantamount to my improvements so far!! Hope that all helps!! -Tony -
I havn't had that problem, but I also dont have a problem with my stand clanking around.....maybe the whole mechanism is bad on yours??

"good" swing yesterday, HORRIBLE swing today
TANK replied to TANK's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
actually you know whats interesting....i do feel the same two things, im a little hesitant in hitting the ball now so i barely have a follow-through AND i feel like im throwing my hips out toward the target because of some stupid thing i got in my head about generating power lol. I need to get an emergency lesson lol. -
Hello all, Im wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing I'm going through right now. I have been practicing a lot lately, taking lessons etc...my swing has progressed and was becomming more consistent but it has fallen apart! A couple days ago I went to the driving range to hit some irons and I kid you not when I say that i was pushing, or push-slicing EVERY SINGLE ball. The frustrating part is I dont FEEL like i'm swinging any differently but i know that i must be coming way inside on my downswing, or something to that effect. Has anyone else had their swing just collapse randomly?? Also, any tips from those of you who used to push the ball but cured it??

Maybe they figured that they make way more $$$ teaching than they could playing. You have to figure those are among the top 10 teacher's in the world, they demand TOP TIER money, and its guaranteed money which is probably more appealing than money they might or might not win in a tournament. Also if their true love is teaching the game, playing in the tour would take that away from them as the tour would demand 100% of their time. Just my .02.

I know im a very high-handicapper but id like to put my vote in for the Cleveland CG14's w/zip grooves. I've actually had some REALLY great shots with it and it check's up really nicely. Feedback is pretty good off the club face and its a very confidence inspiring club for me. -
Thank you both for your advice, trust me its all being absorbed. Pictures help and I am watching the videos as we speak. I wish i could dish out some reps!

hmm ok im starting to understand. I can tell you though, I definitly dont feel like im getting my belly button toward the target. I went for my first lesson a few weeks back, the pro was telling me i should do this drill where i drag my left foot up (im a left) at the follow through so my knees are close together. I understand the point of the drill....to focus on weight transfer, but i need the HOW to the weight transfer issue...as in HOW THE HELL do i initiate and finish and rotate through without hitting a snap-hook. Ill try all the things listed in the thread so far.

so should it basically feel like im pulling my hands through with my hips (does that make sense at all?)

Hello all. Ive been trying to step up my game a little...been practicing my irons a lot at the range. I noticed that i hit my 8-7-6-5 iron's pretty much the same distance, with very little variance. Every now and then ill get the distance i SHOULD be out of each iron....and from what I can tell it comes from when my hips get as involved as they should be. Has anyone else had this bizarre problem and if so, how did you correct it?? Also, anyone who has struggled with getting their hips through a shot...what did you do to correct this? Thanks for your time.

I like the red citrus flavor.... as an added benefit i've gained 60yds on my drive and I can hole-out 25 footers routinely ---> THANKS TIGER/GATORADE!!

I can't recommend a specific shaft for you but I can share some information I've gathered over the many day's I have spent reading G10 reviews. Every review, consistently, has said the G10 launch's the ball REALLY REALLY high.... so when picking your shaft/loft combo, keep that in mind! Best of luck :)

whenever I run into those types of people (havn't REALLY run into that on a course yet)...I just think to myself " hmm i wonder what THEIR trying to hide by judging ME" in the end we're all human, skin and bones and nothing more. -Tony G.

I currently use the Nike SP-8's. I have only put one 18 hole round on them so far this year. The course was damp and VERY long, even with all the walking my feet remained perfectly dry. The shoe gives great stability/traction during the swing and flex's easy when walking. To top it off, I personally think they look great!. Heres the link and image for the shoe. http://www.golfsmith.com/products/248640

Anyone ever deal with Global Golf cust. service?
TANK replied to DirtCheap's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
just to update this for anyone thinking about dealing with them...yes the VAST majority of their transactions are smooth, wish i could say the same for mine. After calling them, they issued me a UPS call tag to return the item. I left the item outside of my door for 3 days straight, and it was never picked up. I called them again, at which point they advised me they had issued the call tag for a residence in North Carolina (I live in Mass.) They re-issued a call tag for the correct address, three days ago. The item has yet to be picked up and since they are only open 9am-5pm and i dont get out of work till 5:30..... and they dont respond to email...ill have to find time to call them AGAIN and see what they screwed up this time. All in all....i wish i had bought the stupid club from a shop and paid the extra $40 bucks. -
I got a used set of Ping I-3's off Ebay, grips were OK but I decided to change them out to some Lamkin Midsize chords. As a new golfer, I had zero expereince regripping clubs.... It was very very easy with the right tools (supplied by Golfsmith in their grip kit). My three peices of advice are as follows: 1. USE A VICE!!! 2. Once you start sliding the grip on, DONT STOP! I learned the hard way that if you stop half way, you probably wont be able to keep going and you'll have to cut that grip off :( 3. Apply the solvent generously, but only to the inside of the grip, avoid exposing the grip tape to generous amounts of solvent as this will cause the griptape to slide around and bunch up as you slide the grip on. Hope that helps!

I just recieved a 22* TM Burner Rescue from them. The item description listed the shaft as "stiff" but it arrived with a regular flex shaft. I have emailed them twice and gotten no resposne. I'll update as things progress.
