  1. Anyone have an experience with the Golf Buddy Plus???
  2. I found it helpful because: 1. Its something to swing the winter when there's 3 feet of snow on the ground; 2. Further to point 1, it helps keep you limber in the winter; 3. I have found it helpful for getting the feeling of a wider arc and higher finish while maintaining balance; and 4. It provides a relative measurement of speed that you can use to gauge the progress of a workout regiment.
  3. I have to travel to Houston in a month. Was looking to play Redstone (site of the Houston Open). Any other public/semi-private courses that anyone recommends if I cannot get on Redstone? I prefer nice, tougher tracks.
  4. I purchased my X-Forged last September 15th. By the end of October I had shaved 6 shots of my index. I was told that they would harder to hit than my old Rac IIs but found the weighting of the shaft gaving much better feel throughout the swing resulting in better contact.
  5. I recently purchased the Burner TP and chose it over the Callaway FT-5. I was fitted using a launch monitor and admittedly, my spin rate and carry distance measured a bit better with the FT-5; however, I did not strike the ball as well as I did with the Burner TP. I have played four rounds and have been impressed with the increased distance over my old Titleist 983k and ball flight (much lower than before). As an example, into a dead 1-2 club head wind, I flew my driver 280 into a bunker. That never would have happened with my 983k. Many suggest reshafting the Burner but I am hesitant. I do however recommend an easy swing. When I try to "kill" it and my timing is off, I will duck-hook the ball which may not happen if I had a stiffer shaft. That said, I do have the stock stiff flex shaft. Now, I could reshaft or just learn to swing with better tempo. I will go with the latter. Would the FT-5 perform as well? I dunno, but like I said, using the simulator my numbers were better with the FT-5 but my contact was more consistent with the Burner TP.
  6. For what it's worth, I used the Burner TP for the first time this weekend and my drives were consistently between 285 and 300, and the temperature was in the low 40's. I hit a Titleist 983k for the past 4 years and my drives in the heat of summer were 275 at best. My poorest drive this weekend was 270 and it was a very low ball. The best drive was a 250 yd. carry to an elevated fairway into a 1-2 club wind.
  7. Launch Angle of 9.5.
  8. Just for my two cents, I was recently fitted for a new driver, the TM Burner TP, 9.5, 50g stiff. I spent two days with the launch monitor to see if the numbers were consistent. They were, to a certain degree. The first day resulted in the fitting. In the second day, my spin rate was considerably higher but so was my swing speed. In other words, I was swing harder duiring the second session. The fitter and I agreed that the first day was a better swing as my contact was better, so was my tempo. So, if you think your new harder swing is going to be your "new" swing, I would suggest that you get fitted before assuming that the new shaft will be the answer. Otherwise, just slow down a bit and put more balls in the fairway.
  9. did he say why you should avoid the Re-Ax shaft?
  10. With my 983k, I carry, with no roll, to 265-275.
  11. What would the X stiff do for me?
  12. I am looking at the TM Burner TP with the stock 50g stiff shaft and 9.5 loft. Should I consider a shaft change given the following metrics from the Golf Galaxy launch monitor These are averages: Ball speed 159 Club head speed 108 Launch Angle 15 Ball Spin 2800 According to the monitor, for this club those metrics correspond to a carry of 270 with 20 more yards of roll.
  13. do you have link to a website that provides the optimal spin rates?
  14. According to the launch monitor, my spin rate was 2850 with a ball speed in the 150s and a launch angle that varied between 13 and 16. Is that spin rate too high? If so, what can I do to lower it?
  15. I just spent some time with a launch monitor. My ball speed was in the 150s and the spin rate averaged around 2850. Is this spin rate too high? If so, how can I lower it? I was hitting the Callaway HX Tour ball.
  16. I have the x-forged with the project-x flighted rifle shafts and just love them. They have some weight that let's me feel the club throughout the swing. In other words, I don't overswing like I did with my TM RacIIs.
  17. 983K vs. 907D2. I have the 983K and drive it between 265-280 with no roll. Will the 907D2 give me anymore length or just more forgiveness? Anyone have any thoughts?
  18. Where did she get it???
  19. Anyone have any experience with any do-it-yourself yardage books?
  20. I have removed the 3 iron from my bag and am looking to replace it with a hybrid. I am looking for a hybrid that looks more like an iron than a wood at address. Anyone have a recommendation? I am leaning toward the Cobra or the Burner.
  21. Looking to replace my 983k driver. Considering the FT-5 and the HiBore XLS. Anyone have any feedback on either of these clubs. Currently, my drives are in the 260-275 yd carry range with little to no roll out. According to the golf simulator, my launch angle is 13 degrees with a ball speed of 150-160 mph.
  22. I like the Callaway X-forged. Very clean look.
  23. www.hiddenglengolfclub.com A P.B. Dye course.
  24. I am a patent attorney with a particular emphasis on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the electrical and electromechanical arts. Sounds fun, eh?
