  1. what worries me on this thread is there are a couple of people who think that if you just spend time and money and practice a lot then you have a chance of being professional. 95%, probably more, of players on the PGA tour are freakishly good athletes. Just because you see the odd golfer who's overweight (these guys are still good athletes!) doesn't mean its easy. Coming from formerly being a professional tennis player I would say that Golf is one of the toughest sports.
  2. @jkelley9 Yeah fair enough! I agree with you
  3. @jkelley9 you actually hardly need any sugar/carbohydrate to survive. Thousands of years ago when we were cavemen sugar wasnt readily available and we relied on a high fat, medium protein and low carbs/sugar diet. Look up info about the ketogenic diet. You can keto-adapt so your body's primary energy source is fat rather than sugars. Processed carbs and sugars have a massive link to a lot of the illnesses mentioned above. Not to mention food sensitivities, allergies etc
  4. @IanW I think Talent isn't over-rated. I think the dedication you are talking about comes under the umbrella of talent. Also I there are many people that won't make it not because they don't have the desire its because they aren't great athletes or have natural ability at learning quickly
  5. Unfortunately haven't been able to play properly for a few months as I have been ill, but have been to the range a few times in the last few weeks. I am struggling with inconsistent contact with my irons. Mainly a thin contact. From looking at my own video, obviously i dont know much about the golf swing!, but it looks like my head is moving quite alot as I try and turn my shoulders in the backswing. Would this make it hard to have a consistent strike. Here is a swing from today with a 9 irons, sorry about the quality!!!! Any other ideas? Now I can start playing again I will def look to get stuck into evolvr again
  6. Thanks Mvmac, forgot I had this previous thread on this account! Will give the posture and grip change a go and post some results
  7. I've been Playing Golf for: 7 years My current handicap index or average score is: 12 My typical ball flight is: fade/push (normally strike my irons reasonably well with good distance but strike is a bit thin atm) The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: weak fade where it really feels like my weight is on the back foot and I come out of the swing loads Videos: I have had a couple of lessons in the last 6-8 months, most recently a few days ago. The coach, who i trust, was trying to get me to stop dropping my left shoulder on the backswing and get my hands a bit higher at the top of the swing. My bad miss is a weak fade, and the occasional shank! Anyone seeing anything else or any other ideas on how to get higher hands etc I am def going to look at starting to use evolvr as I'm moving to spain and probably wont get lessons out there Thanks George
  8. sorry for the horrible quality but this is a still from earlier today, is it a bit better?
  9. @mvmac thanks!!! amazing advice, went to the range today and did some filming and no head dip at all!!!!! will post some videos in the next few days but thanks!
  10. thanks mvmac for moving the post! I filmed my swing again yesterday and Im still working on not rotating my forearms and turning more as suggested. One thing I have seen in the last 2/3 weeks is that my head is dipping in the backswing, which i didn't used to do!! I've done a few drills suggested by my coach to stop it but I'm finding it very difficult Anyone have any suggestions to keep the head from dipping and why I might be doing it?
  11. Hi guys, Currently my back swing is quite flat and from there typically 4-5 degrees to the left. It then comes over the top. My current flight is straight or a slight fade and bad shot is a slice. My ball striking isn't too bad and @mvmac has given me a drill to get my back swing more on plane. Once I start to do that should the swing path be less to the left? or do I then have to do work to get the path closer to zero or out to the right. Sorry it might be a stupid question
  12. Hi guys, I have previously struggled hitting driver off the tee, my bad shot was a low hook. My path is on average 4 degrees to the left if this helps. I have found recently if I set up with my shoulders tilted with my right shoulder slightly lower at address and feel like i'm slightly leaning back??? I have been launching the ball really well with a slight fade, just like my irons. Is this just a quick fix, or is it something I should continue doing? Thanks George
  13. @mvmac thank for helping - Here is a more updated video I have had a few lessons as well as practicing your point. The pieces I have been given from the lessons have been trying to not let my left leg straighten too early in the downswing as I come out of the swing causing it to slice, also to move my ball position for my irons further back as apparently for 'my' swing this would help. I have about a 5 yard fade on my irons and slightly more the longer the club gets, has it got any better anyone? ha Thanks and appreciate any more feedback
  14. Have previously had problems with lifting the hands rather than turning so this will help! Would the backswing contribute to a hook?
