ALL of the things in my bag (to include the bag) are used. Why? I'm a beginner and the thought of me spending 1500 for what I have just to have them new is insane. I have gently used clubs that I got for at least 50% off and they are great. I guess when I get better and I want the brand new driver I will consider it - but for right now, used is the perfect way to go.

Why did I even bother reading another post of this. I'm only up to the 2nd Algae Planet (Eye of Jupiter) episode. Arrgh.

is marihuana a performance enhancer for your golf?
penguin replied to ganjagolfer's topic in Golf Talk
If I smoked before a round, I would take end up taking a nap on the 6th...lol -
I was searching an old forum I was on and I found this old post I made:

ahh. The fun life of being a mod/admin! On one of the boards I mod we supplement our operating costs by allowing users to ban other users for $5 (the ban is for a period of time) and allow a change of the user name for $5 for a certain period of time. Supplants our advertising/sponsors and allows other users the ability to vent steam. It's a concurrent banning, though. So A can ban B for a week and then the next week C can then ban B... Such fun!

I scrolled down to the bottom so I wouldn't see any of the above posts. I've seen the first episode but had to skip out on the second one as SciFiHD is running 10 episodes per day and I didn't want to lag so far behind. I'm up to the boxing episode (which kind of sucks) and have 11 more to go do be caught up. It's frackin awesome. I love DVRs...lol Between this Lost and Heros (getting caught up) I have no other time for other shows. Well, Battle 360 with the Big E is set to record as well.

I have a 17 and 21* hybrids from Nickent (2/4). I find it difficult to hit 3 and 4 (let's just throw in 5-PW, too...lol) and they really help out. I'm better with woods and hybrids. I've actually considered selling my Callaway's to get a set of the Cleveland HiBores or maybe some Mizuno muscle cuts.

I won't regurgitate what has already been said. I play once a month and hit the range a few times a week. The biggest thing to do with my play are the fundementals. I have those fancy clubs and buy decent balls to play with - but I need more work on the fundementals.

Is it possible for Guitar Hero to be too sweet?
penguin replied to BigHitta's topic in The Grill Room
Can't golf around here about 11pm. It's a great social thing when people come over. Half will be playing pool, half will be playing the Wii and half will be watching. ps. yes. I know. Thank you Mr. Berra. -

I beat easy in 3 days (kind of got addicted) but haven't played it in a while. I have it for the Wii and I am mid-way through medium. -
Best deal on a golf club you've ever found?
penguin replied to Hank's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've gotten a great deal on all my clubs but my best so far is my irons. Callaway X-Fusions with graphite shafts 5-PW in 8.5/10 condition for $275. -
How Much are your Balls Worth?
penguin replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
My wife says if I don't stop playing golf so much, my balls won't be worth much to her....lol I have a friend that collects balls and hooks me up with some Pro-Vs and the like all the time. However, I usually hit whatever is the least expensive as I'm still learning. I can usually pick up a set (12-18) for about $20 at Acadamy. -
Should you ever find yourself in need of, oh, I don't know - someone to clean out your basement. Look no further. I'm just here to help you out. I can store whatever clubs might be taking up space for other ventures (train set, media room, amateur mortician studies, etc). PM me for details

I second the Ping nomination. I think Yes! mallets are remarkable and you can't go wrong with a Newport Detour.

I guess I'm ahead of the pack. I not only ground the ball at address, I ensure I follow up that grounding with a wonderfull duff during my swing... I actually ground to try and get a feel for my spot and then step back (on the same like as the ball) and do a few practice swings there.

Which is why some people shouldn't have a gun... You have some anger management issues to deal with.

Really, you can open or conceal carry at Disney World? That's a new one on me. I mean, I worked there in college on the WDW College Program and then go every other year and on the ticket and at the gate it says 'no weapons allowed'. I've NEVER seen anyone carry there. So where oh where did you see these guns? Paranoid and obsessive. Nope. Not here. The biggest thing you said that made any sense is that I will 'probably never use it'. I hope not. But that one word, 'probably', leaves open the fact that I might need it. And I'd rather have it than not have it. That's not being paranoid. I have no theory that bad men await around every corner to jump me so I must have a gun with me. I do have the theory that there are bad men out there that have jumped people and I will protect myself accordingly. And I'm glad only one person has said there gun has had use in the civi world. That's the way I hope it would be.
-
'The sort of mentality' as what, wanting to protect myself? The world is not a more dangerous place because of me. I don't go around robbing people. I don't go around showing off my gun. So is church and guns inconceivable? How about a fast food restaurant and guns? What about a school and guns? Funny, all the places that were mentioned have been rocked by violent assaults by criminals with guns. And people like me have nothing to do with it. Your emotion without substantive fact is just that - emotion.
-
Every situation is different so it would be without merit to say that scenario will present itself everytime. I won't risk being shot if I have no opportunity to defend myself. But if you do have the opportunity for self-defense with a sidearm - well, that is different. You wouldn't even have that option if you don't have your carry.
-
I agree, this should be in the Grill. All in all, I'll still carry where I can. I hope I'll never have to use it anywhere, let alone a CC. But you know what, the people at this McDonalds (in a 'gun free' England) didn't think they would ever encounter a gunman at McDonalds. Nor did these people when they went to church service. Again, you can't control that wild 3rd party, but you can control the situation.
-
Nor is every CC in a great neighborhood full of good people. The answer to the reason why I carry is in your statement. You don't know where the BG is.
-
I'm the type of person to play golf and I don't feel the 'need' to carry a gun in my bag, but I do feel that it is better to have than have not. They don't need to be in a bad neighborhood. All you need is someone from a bad neighborhood to come to you.
-
I reiterate that Bravo Zulu. It's not like we're going to change anyone's minds, either. As long as we can all agree that Guinness is better than Victoria Bitters...lol
-
dang quick spell check...lol I don't feel the 'need' to own a gun. I 1) feel it's my right and 2) want to have the protection that is afforded me by that right My primary carry arms are sub-compacts...so there goes that theory. I'll just use your quote as it sums it up: "Obviously I have never looked in to this subject " Ok...
