I agree with what your saying and I increased loft with this driver because it was a "newer" model. And I want to drop the loft to 8.5, if thats possible. But, I went from averaging 280-290 and reaching 300, to dropping to 260-270. I get absolutely no roll now. My launch angle is far too high, then it suddenly rises and drops, like im hitting into a head wind everytime. Which is called ballooning, So I know what I'm looking at. I just don't know enough about shaft specifics to help myself, without getting a fit. I know kick, flex, tourque, etc blah, can all attribute and possibly tweak my ball flight some. I just need some tips from other in what shaft I should be interested in. Also, i don't swing as hard as I used to, so I know i don't have that super distance anymore. But I know my shot is ballooning, and its taking about 10 yards from me. Which has pushed me back an iron on average in the fairway, and I would like to retain that ten yards. Thx

Bump... Help

Guys, I don't have the money to go get fitted for a shaft right now, so i am looking for some opinions. I recently got my 907D2, and the control i've picked up is awesome. But I am really balooning the ball bad, and my launch angle is wayyy high. I was playing a Titleist 975J, 7.5*, Graffaloy Pro-lite Elite Shaft Now i'm playing a Titleist 907D2, 9.5*, Nippon Tour Graphite(came on it) I play standard length and swing roughly around 107 mph I want to know if anyone knows any good SHAFT combinations for this driver? Or any shafts that could help me stabilize my ball flight. I may have to see if I could get that driver bent or hozel change to 8.5*. Thanks!!

oh sorry, i didnt meant to insult anyone as a hacker. i mainly meant to say that its played by many many players, not just the advanced. so its not a driver for an advanced player, its made for people with less skills also.
-
that would be because its a 15 year old. when your young you tend to exagerate your distance some.
-
The burner isn't for advanced players. Its a game improvement driver, and really easy to hit. Hence all the hackers that use it.
-
I am interested in peoples response to this. Can you Change a drivers loft?? I don't see how you could, but you never know. I'd like to drop mine to 8.5*. bump

I don't know if this has come up yet, but does anyone know anything on the new Titleist 909 series?? I have played the 975D 8.5*, 975J 7.5*(favorite driver ever!!!), and now have the 907D2, which i got only a month ago. I may still try and find a cheap 905R to swing. Anyway, if anyone has any news on this new driver, please post it here. I'm pretty anxious to check it out. Though I traditionally hold on to drivers for a while. I may be inclined to move to the 909 from the 907. I only hope that it goes as far and feels as good as my 975J did!

What wedge/loft combo are you using?
LSU_DON replied to JYB's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
52* 110 - 120 56* 100 - 110 60* 90 yards and in - also my all purpose club. i love 60* wedge for everything considering removing the 56* or 52* to add a 5wood/hybrid for longer courses -
You can't go wrong with Taylor Made, but i've never really played anything of there's besides my three wood... but I have love for Titleist and Cleveland, but I chose Titleist!

Guys, I am looking for recommendations on balls to play that don't cost me $50 dollars a dozen. I like to play a soft ball that I can work on the green. I love ProV1, but don't want to go pay for them. Any opinion on Pro-V1 Xout? Thanks

I have a 907d2, which i am a big fan of. But I recently hit another person's 907d2 at the range and his was a little different. mine sounds more like a "clunk" or a "dunk" "whook" and his had that nice "ting" sounds to it. Don't get me wrong, i hit mine well, but the sound differences were odd. - mine has a Nippon, NP Pro Tour, really stiff shaft - http://www.nipponshaft.com/graphite_tour65.html - he had that really expensive shaft that K.J. Choi uses (forget the name) - both had 9.5*, both were stiff Would that be attributed to my shaft, or could there be something wrong with my driver? (it is a second hand driver, so I am skeptical) thanks for the help

Guys, I have been playing my wedges forever. I'm to the point now that my 60* is needing a replacement, and possibly my 52 and 56 to remain consistent. I use my 60* for chipping, sand, and up to 90 yards and anything possible( its my baby). 56* to 110 yards 52* to 120 yards My 60* is a 588 BECU. ive always used the copper because i felt it was soft and light(which could very well be the wrong assessment). but it worked great around the green and chipping comfort is a big deal to me. I have been looking at the CG12 and wanted personal explanations of the difference between Black Pearl and Chrome? also, if you prefer another brand over Cleveland, say Titleist, please explain.... also, say I have a 56* and a 52* strickly for full strokes, like a typical iron. Would you continue to use a standard sand wedge finish, or have something more similiar to my irons?
-
oooohhhh i agree with KEKOA, I traditionally have a very strong grip, but with my driver i had to weaken it some too
-
well i am a similiar situation as u i was over drawing my driver, and i hit someone else's at the range with a grip one size bigger and it helped me from over rotating, so i went up to a mid sized wynn grip on my driver and it helped me from over rotating if u are a slicer, i don't recommend it because u won't be able to turn ur wrist over though it will work for some and not for others, and i don't know if its a long term change, but I am sure enjoying it right now

Hey all, 3 weeks ago I retired my 975J 7.5* with a graffaloy pro-lite elite, and moved on to a 907 D2 9.5* with a Nippon N.S. Pro Tour shaft . I am still questionable with the Nippon shaft, but the deal I got for the club couldn't be beat, and I have always loved Titleist drivers. So my questions too people playing the 907D2, 905R, or anyone else with an opinion... What shaft are you using? how does it play? any other comments? My swing speed 105-115 roughly, play a hard inside out/draw swing. roughly 280+ off the tee, give or take some yardage if not struck well... (used to be consistently longer, but i'm even getting a little old and out of shape ) Current Shaft: http://www.nipponshaft.com/graphite_tour65.html - seems to be a good shaft. nippon is a big steel shaft dealer, but i don't know about the graphite. from my research and play, this is a high performance shaft, and its pretty darn stiff. if you have any other questions to me, please ask!

Friday - 1 under on front nine, 2 over on back nine, 1 over after 18 holes - 6 birdies on round - inside 100 yds gave me issues, and im still working with this new driver. hitting short to mid irons awesome! Saturday - 9 over - god awful, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, round really really slow, trouble with driver with way too much right hand (kept hooking), strained something in right forearm the season is just starting for me... gonna take some time to get it rolling Atchafalaya Golf Course - Patterson, LA... part of Louisiana's Audubon trail, nice course, only 3-4 years old... 3 million dollar club house, whole thing is Cyprus. sort of overkill

thx for the replies, im 23 but ive played 15 years this summer i play my 60 degree wedge for all shots under 100 56* - 110 yds, 52* - 120 yds, i couldn't bring down my wedge, so i decided to just get clubs instead i love the 90 - 100 yd mark, but from 30 - 70 yds i struggle for consistency my problem seems that i can't get distance control on those shots ex, i hit balls today, half my bucket with my 60* at a 50 yard post, it seemed every shot i hit well flew over it to about 60 yds or more, and if i took off of my swing i would just not strike it well SHINGDIG - i have considered putting up the driver, but its just tough to accept hitting a 100 yd shot when i know i can hit it to 50 yds out, you make a good point though according to yalls post, should i focus more on swing speed, or backswing distance? or a combination of both?
-
guys, i can hit a ball long for days, a draw or fade, but i have trouble getting control of shots 30 - 80 yds any tips or techniques to work on those shots?
