  1. Another vote for the AD 333. Really soft feel and just as long as anything else I've played. The two 12 packs for $25 kind of makes it a no-brainer in terms of value. Also, with so many golf ball deals out there it's hard to understand why people would buy refurbished balls. TW
  2. Buddy and I played the Srixon AD 333 today in a scramble. They are on sale, two 12 packs for $25 so we decided to split the cost. (Dicks/GG) Very impressed! I like a soft ball for putting and it was the best ball I've ever putted with. I used the ProV1 off the tee and and for approach shots while he used the 333 for everything. He hit it longer than he usually does, chipped in for eagle, and sank a 30 footer for birdie. I don't know if it was the ball or not, but he did some things he never does. He really liked it. Obviously the ProV1 is a great ball but for me it's only so-so for putting. Will probably play 9 with the ProV1 on Friday and the other 9 with the 333. Very nice ball and two packs for $25 makes it even better. TW
  3. I have done a fair amount of ball testing this year. Half for fun and half to see if there's a ball that actually could make a difference. And my conclusion is......it doesn't matter! Played the Bridgestone B330rx, e6, e7, Srixon Z-Star, ProV1, TaylorMade TP Red, Titleist DT Roll and DT SoLo. I like the SoLo's soft feel for putting, but they are hard to find now that they don't make them anymore. As for the premium balls, I could not tell any difference other than slight feels on the green when putting. Last week I compared the TP Red vs the ProV1. Pretty comparable except that the TP Red seemed a bit more durable. I can get a few ProV1s thru work, but if I'm buying with my own dime it'll probably be the DT Roll, e7 and TP Red. Golf is highly mental and I am at least going to play a ball I have confidence in and those three balls do a nice job while being in the range of $20-27.50 per dozen. TW
  4. I used to be a slicer. I strengthened my grip and for a couple of years I hit the ball straight. Now I'm hitting a power draw with most clubs except my short irons (8-sw). I hope to take a lesson next week, but have two rounds coming up this weekend. I just want to hit the ball straight. What am I doing that is causing this power draw (sounds better than a hook). I have weakened my grip some, but that doesn't seem to do the trick. Let's hear the ideas! Thanks in advance. TW
  5. I have a 10.5* tour burner so I think I have a quality club. Might give the e7 a try. Perhaps I can get a bit more distance by lowering my iron trajectory a bit, but we'll have to see how I like it with the putter. TW
  6. Very interesting thread. I did a little bit of research during my first full round of '09. Tested the Z-Star, e6, b330-rx, and the dt solo (which is now hard to find I guess). In any event, for my game, it made no difference whatsoever. The Z-Star felt a touch firmer off the putter, but otherwise I couldn't tell the difference between any of them. In addition, I was not able to get any spin on my short irons. (Probably because I don't have a great swing, but the only time I remember getting spin on a short iron is with a Pro-V1x.) In any event, here's my question. I have: > lower/average trajectory off the driver. A good drive for me is around 250. > Irons, don't hit them very long, but have a high ball flight. I get no/little spin at all. > I want to hit the ball straight (hence why I wanted to try the e6). But I don't have a bad hook or slice. Setting aside the fact that I need some lessons to improve, is there actually a ball out there that could help? I have not bought a high spin ball because I'm worried it will enhance a hook or slice shot. Is this thinking wrong? Might give the e7 a shot to lower the trajectory on my irons, but what will that do to my driver? My swing speed is around 90. Decisions, decisions.... Thanks for any feedback! TW
  7. I'm looking at replacing my R540 driver with an R7 425. I have a moderate swing speed. I'm wondering if one shaft would be better than another. Shaft names include the Pro Launch Grafalloy, Aldila, or the Fujikura, the latter which appears to be standard. I'm not sure if the Fuji is the one I should be using and since the club is hard to find it's unlikely I'll be able to hit with the other two shaft options. I'm interested in everyone's thoughts to see which shaft would be best or if there is even a material difference. Thanks in advance.
  8. 2008 could be the Year of the Tiger.
  9. No home course. Enjoy playing all over.
  10. Insurance. But not a State Farm viewer.
