I didn't do it before either. But it seems we have an abundance of squirrels here. Every time- I hit right down the middle in the center of the fairway. But on a lot of shots when I get up to where my ball is supposed to be, it seems a squirrel has repositioned it into the rough. Some of the meaner squirrels even put it all the way into the trees!!! So now I mark mine with a line around the seam (not marking thru the writing). Also on one side of the ProV's just below the number there is a "smaller" dimple than the rest. I mark this dimple and three above to make what resembles a paw print. I use orange on the ProV1x's and green on the ProV1's Don't know why I picked these colors, just wanted something different than what I see used most -black, red, blue. Plus I get to do it when I'm at work, while I sitting around waiting on the phone to ring. Ricky

73 on par 72 (71.3/124). This was my all time best day of golf. It was when I beat my Dad for the first (and only) time on HIS home course in MS. He shot a 75. He usually always shoots good just enough to keep me close (and trying) but beat me by a couple strokes!! Ricky

The good thing about ESPN is that they showed more of the actual golf being played. NBC spent more time with Bob Costas doing his little interviews and history clips then back to another commercial. They went thru three full segments one time and never showed any live golf. I usually like NBC for sports stuff but I really hated them on this one.

I have both taken and given. But here lately, just for my own improvement, I have been putting everything out. That being said; when I go to play with my Dad (he lives in MS) in late June I will take the ones he gives me and also return the favor. I have only beat him once and will take everything he gives me. Plus if he gives me one and I still putt it but miss, he then makes me take both strokes . Ricky

Drivers, Back in the early 80's I found a Wilson Persimmon 1 wood in a dumpster that I played with for years. Then I got a new complete set of Wilson 1200LT's that I played with through high school and after. I then in the early 90's bought a Ping ISI Persimmon set of woods that I played with up until a month ago when I finally went the way of the metal woods. Ricky

I shot a 94!! Man it was a long day. I've been working on my chipping and putting a lot lately because they are usually my downfall but today it was my saving grace. I had some real nice Up & Down saves, plus a few fairly long 1 putts (10-15 feet) that I usually haven't been making. It was from the T-box to approach that killed me. For some reason I started hooking my driver (I normally have a slight fade), I was hitting my fairway woods left and with top-spin (they would jump about 20yds then dive back to the ground), and I was pulling my irons (not bad but bad enough to miss most of the greens). So after all of the OB's, hazards and other penalty strokes I think I did pretty good considering. On a good note, if I can get my long shots back and keep chipping and putting like I did, I might have a record round (73 is my best ever round) coming up soon. Ricky

Thanks Candycane. I might give it a try. I'm going to the range this morning. Ricky

Candycane What do you mean about the shoebox? Ricky

I just bought the X-18 w/steel uniflex. The other set I have been using for years are Top Flite Tour TI w/graphite muscle shafts. I loved my Top Flites but I also love my X-18's. I never tried the X-18's in graphite but sometimes wish I would have. It seems like my old graphite clubs have a little bit of a smoother feel to them when they are hit off center. The X-18's are longer than my old set and I don't even swing them as hard. It seems the ball flight is better and further when I don't swing as hard. Now I hit an 8I from 150 when I used to hit a 7I. It could possibly be the steel shaft making the difference but I think it's the technology in the new clubs. If your other clubs are older then you will definetly get better distance with the X-18's. I would find some with graphite shafts to try out. Then see which one feels better to you. Ricky

I remember when I first got the ISI, I thought that it was big. Putting it up next to the X460 makes it look like an old fairway wood or something now. The biggest change is adjusting to the height I have to tee the ball up. I've always used broken tees and barely had my ball above ground before with the Ping. I have never had a problem with ball height, most all of my shots have a high launch angle. Sometimes I wouldn't even use a tee (just to aggravate my friends I was playing with). So learning exactly how high to tee it up now is what I'm working on. Plus I found out that I needed to back away from the ball more because I was hitting it on the hosel. I read somewhere that when you address a ball that is teed up that high you make your adjustments with the club in the air lined up behind the ball not on the ground behind it. So far it seems to work. But coming from a wooden driver to the NEW metal drivers I can't believe the sweet spot/forgiveness of them. Technology is great. Plus I can swing slower and the ball just launches of the club. The reason I emphisized "new metal drivers" is because over the years I have tried all kinds of metal drivers ever since they've been out hoping that I would finally find one I could hit but I never could. It was like they would take my little bit of slice and magnify it. So I finally gave up and this year is the first time I've looked at metal drivers in about 6-7 years. Plus my launch angle has come down with the X460, which I'm glad for. It's probably because I'm not having to swing so hard. I still have a few adjustments to make but so far I love it. Ricky

Well, I broke down and bought myself some fairway woods and irons to go with my new Driver. I got the 3,5,7 X-fairway woods and 3-SW X-18 irons. I still have to get used the the little bit of difference in yardage but so far so good. No regrets yet Looking to get a new bag soon also. IACAS- you asked; ........I'm still trying to figure out what he meant by "jarred his hands." Well here in the south it's the same as "rattled", "vibrated" etc. (It felt like I was hitting rocks not golf balls) but both of those words just don't have the same ring to them

I have a Momentus also and this time of year while I'm just getting my game on track I carry it with me. I figure I paid my money I'll play like I want too! While waiting around at tee-boxes I'll get it out and swing it a few times. I'm not referring to while playing in tournaments or scrambles. Mostly right now I play during the week by myself. So I'll take what ever I might want to try out or practice with for the day.

I just bought the X460 Tour. I have been hitting a Ping ISI wood driver for the last several years. I never could hit a metal driver. I decided I wanted to get me a new driver so I tried out several. Nike Sasquatch, Tietlest 905T &905R, X460 tour and the regular X460. I can't really remember the rest that I tried. I hit the tour model 460 better than all of them. I am Finally hitting a drive straight instead of having to play my left to right slice/fade. I had a real bad slice with the Sasquatch. Neither one of the Tietlest's felt very good when I hit them. The X460 Tour had such a sweet spot that I didn't even feel the ball when I hit it. I have never hit a straight drive before and I hit maybe 100 balls or more between the clubs (swapping clubs every 5 or so hits) and the Tour model went straight pretty much every time (except when I pulled it, but it was still a straight ball flight). The regular X460 had a slight right slice everytime. It was really more of a fade but it was consistant. That is why I went with the tour model instead of the regular. As far as shafts, off the shelf the Tour comes with the Fujikira (spelling) 26.3 Tour and the regular X460 comes with a Calloway gravite shaft. So far I love mine.

Bought a Callaway X460 Tour 9.5 today. I tried the Nike Sasquatch, Tietlest 905T, Callaway X460 standard and several others. I hit the X460 Tour straighter than I've hit a driver in years. I didn't like the Nike at all. The standard X460 had a noticable fade to it. The Tietlest jarred my hands when I hit it. Keep in mind that until today I played with a Ping ISI wood driver. I never could hit a metal wood. Ricky
