Actually, if I may interject... Titleist is in Fairhaven, yes, but the club division (R&D;/Manufacturing) is in San Diego. Carlsbad to be specific. Callaway is in Carlsbad as well. A number of other golf companies make home in San Diego - Ben Hogan, the Scotty Cameron Studio, Taylormade/Adidas Golf, Aldida (shafts), Mitsubishi Rayon (shafts), True Temper. I'm sure there's more I've missed, but I can't recall at the moment. Anyway, my point is that if you want to get into club R&D;/development/manufacture.. then San Diego is the place to be.

Considered it, but I'm not sure - I'm not a fan of the mushrooming effect the stamping gives. Yeah, I think I might want a double top sightline, single flange sightline. What do you think? The standard weight for the 33" - 360g. It's got a nice heft to it. Break out the cigars! We have a new arrival in my household - a virgin SC NP @ 33", with no sight lines, stock grip, stepless shaft. For you Scotty Cameron nuts out there, I'm going to ship it to the Custom shop to get sight lines added, and I'm not sure what I want to have done to it. I was thinking a double line on the top, and a single line on the flange, and maybe a lucky four leaf clover stamp. :) Any suggestions?

My tour watching schedule consists of: the Open Championship the PGA Championship then the 3 closer FedEx events if there's a tight race for the Cup - Deutsche Bank and BMW Championship, wrapping up with the Tour Championship. Maybe the Ryder cup. Funny thing is that I'm getting married during the final round of the Tour Championship.

Frankly, gentlemen... As much as I love Tiger and watching him play, I am getting sick of the media's handling of Tiger. Let's call it Tigermania. Every front page news story about the US Open had Tiger in it. Not Rocco who happened to be leading at one point. It was either a mix of "Tiger stutters" or "Tiger fights back". Come on! I want to hear about the other golfers too. I know Tiger's name sells, but really, we need to give airtime to other players too. The same goes for the coverage of the Open as well, because the coverage went like this: *5 minutes of Tiger deliberating* *5 seconds of Westwood putting* *5 minutes of Tiger deliberating and putting*. It sucked. However, it was one of the best Opens i've seen yet.

Why would you be surprised that under par wins the Open? The two-cut rough will be more forgiving than thought. I have Tiger at -10. US Open or Buick Invitational or not... it's still the same course. [EDITED to remove error re: practice round score.]

So.. I've found that I have a nickel sized dent on the heel and as well as the toe of my R7 460, likely from mishits. Should I be worried about performance, and does it warrant a call to Taylormade? The club is less than a year old. Let me know.

Cell phones? Meh. Smokers. The stench of a cigarette will throw off my swing a hell lot more than a cell phone conversation would. Case in point, last Friday - some midlife crisis blue collar hick decides to light one up right behind me, and the wind is blowing in my direction. He doesn't go anywhere, he just proceeds to swing with cigarette in mouth. Children were around as well. I was hoping he would go somewhere else, but he didn't. After a minute, I asked him to move it somewhere else out of respect for others. He just glares at me and says, "Dis a public property! I can do whatevah i wan!" Asking doesn't always work, as you can see. After that, I just grabbed my bucket, moved upwind, and notified the range guy. I saw him put it out after a quick conversation with the range guy. I just didn't feel like getting into some awkward altercation at the range, then continue with him behind me with long heavy metal sticks and a pisspoor attitude.

$10 for 100 balls at Stanford. It's on mats too. I haven't found a decent all-grass range in the Bay Area yet.
