  1. I think G-Mac uses them, so don't see why not
  2. I used my hex chrome + for the first time this weekend in difficult windy/rainy conditions, but thought they were superb! Added distance to my game and I hit some very good iron shots with them. Tested them out on the chipping green before and they produce so much more spin than my Bridgestone E6's. Saw some divots on the greens that showed a large bit of backspin on some short iron shots, which was pleasing. Overall really pleased and worth the money. £28 a box in the UK
  3. I bought a set of these last week, they are fantastic. Based on your statement in the OP, I actually find the G25 long irons to be the best irons in the set! Obviously it's going to depend on what irons you currently use, as to how much difference they make, but my Iron shots have: - Gained distance - More accurate - Installed confidence on the tee My game has improved a lot as I was properly fitted and have upgraded from regular to stiff shaft, which has helped me a lot. Trust me when you try them out and hit a pure shot, the noise is great and feels amazing. PING irons are some of the best out there, so you should strongly consider them
  4. I ended up buying a set of G25's last week :) Ordered some Callaway Hex Chrome + balls. Heard a lot of good things about them, so looking forward to trying them out, although the weather conditions might not be so great!
  5. Went to American Golf (UK) for an Iron fitting and put an order in for some Ping G25 Irons.. should be here this week, just before the monthly medal!
  6. hmmm I was looking at buying some new Irons this weekend, so not sure what I'll do if I like the AP1's! Guess if they're the best fit, then will wait for the 714's
  7. I'm in the same boat as the OP. Currently using Titleist 822OS (2001-2002) that I inherited and now down to an 18 handicap, I want to upgrade. These are the irons I'm considering: - Titleist AP1 - Titleist AP2 - Ping G25 - Ping G20 - Mizuno JPX 825 - Mizuno JPX EZ - Mizuno JPX Pro Should I be considering the AP2 and JPX Pro Irons at my level? I'm aware they're more aimed at the lower handicaps, but was thinking it would be good to 'grow' into a set so I don't have to change if I get to single handicap figures. Be good to get some feedback!
  8. Strongly considering them myself, lots of good reviews, but need to try out the jpx 825 and ap1 as well!
  9. Interesting. VW own Skoda as you probably know, so that's a bit suprising. Do they sell any Skoda's out there?
  10. I drive a Skoda Octavia vRS, like the one below: Do they have many of these in America, out of interest?
  11. Exactly same for me although my 52 and 56 are the SM4 vokey and the 60 is a spin milled Vokey
  12. Yep same for me as I only bought my GW last week and have bought the 56-11 this week haha
  13. Loved my Vokey SM4 52 GW, so bought a 56
  14. Mine at the moment are: 1) Driver - Nike Covert VR_s 2) 3W - Callaway Diablo Octane 3) Hybrid - Taylormade Rocketballz Stage 2 4) 4i - Titleist 822OS 5) 5i - Titleist 822OS 6) 6i - Titleist 822OS 7) 7i - Titleist 822OS 8) 8i - Titleist 822OS 9) 9i - Titleist 822OS 10) PW - Titleist 822OS 11) GW - TItleist Vokey SM4 52 degree 12) SW - Titleist 822OS if the 52 degree goes well, will upgrade to Vokey 56) 13) LW - Titleist Spin Milled Vokey 60 Degree 14) Putter - Taylormade Classic Smoke 79
  15. Bought 2 items: - Titleist Vokey SM4 52 Degree (Black Nikel) - PGA Allignment sticks
  16. You'll be hitting putts short, because you don't follow through with the putter. I bet you're paranoid about hitting it too far?
  17. Thanks for the replies people. I've looked around for the GW of that set but no luck, only PW (in the uk). Handicaps actually at 19 now and have been shooting a few 14-16 rounds, but I agree still not low enough to warrant a set. I do own a 60degree vokey as per the post above, which is why I've started to relise the gap I've got. Time to look around, may go with another vokey 50-52.
  18. Hi all. I use some old Titleist 822 OS irons and the SW/PW lofts are: SW - 55.5 PW - 46 I've got to that point in my game, where I need a Wedge to fill in between my SW/PW. As you can see, there's quite a substanial gap between them both and I've had a few shots recently that really a GW would be perfect, instead of overhitting a SW or grip-down PW. My dilemma is whether to buy a single GW or buy a set of wedges. As the irons are quite old now, there's not any GW listed in the UK for these irons, but I'm concerned that buying a seperate brand GW may mess up the feel of my short game. If it were you, would you invest in a set of wedges, so you don't have to adjust the feel/weight for each wedge or would you just buy a different branded GW?
  19. Funny this popped up, I was just looking for a forum on this! I've just bought the Covert VR_s driver after testing 6-7 clubs and can tell you it's absolutely transformed my driving! I took it out for the first time last night and literally (apart from 1), missiled it down the fairway. It's been a weak point of my game for a while and I'm really pleased that I can replicate the form on the course that I had in the testing session. Especially happy as I've got my first club competition on sunday. Ultimately it depends on what driver you using at the moment as to the difference you'll see. I was using an old Yonex V-Mass with a 9 Degree loft, which was passed on to me and picked up the 10.5 degree VR_s (non-tour). I would highly recommend it and it also installs confidence with it's fantastic looks at address.
  20. Nah not the UK, it's a scottish/northern phrase mate. They have their own language up there :)
  21. Ah I've heard how good they are, however it wasn't in my selection as it's very pricey over here in the UK! I ended up with the Covert VR_s (non-tour). Got some great tips from the PGA pro in American Golf with my actual swing, which actually helped to get a nice draw on my drives, which is the 1st time ever I think! I narrowed it down to the VR_s and the Stage2 Rocketballz and was consistantly hitting the VR_s better with a nice draw to about 240-250 on the launch monitor. I'm told it should reach about 270-280 on the course as the launch monitor tends to hit short and bounce soft. Great feel about the club and can't wait to get out on the course to try it
  22. Last trip I bought the Taylormade Rocketballz Stage 2 Hybrid - absolutely cracking club. Can hit it straight, consistant and makes a lovely cracking noise when you hit it. Was able to get around 220yards in the American Golf testing bay. Tonight I will be looking to purchase a driver, one of the following: - Taylormade R1 - Cobra AMP Cell - Ping G25 - Mizuno JPX 825 - Taylormade Rocketballz Stage 2 .. which one will I return with?
  23. After a few weeks of using it, I'm absolutely loving the E6. My scores have come down pretty dramatically
  24. Re: the above post. Lower handicaps have better swing mechanics, which create a faster swing speed = further distance.
  25. Not sure exactly mate, but I believe it's to something to do with the grooves or the size of the sweet spot on the driver. The model is a yonex v-mass plus 400. Seems like the whole range of V-mass are listed as non-comforming on the list, but I don't exactly know why. My dad passed it on to me as he had to change it for this reason also. It does go ridiculously far to be fair, so it's a laugh to play with, but it doesn't really work for me too well so will be looking to replace it soon anyway
