  2. Thanks, Mike. I know it's still not great but it's at least a small improvement. I was hitting them pretty decent yesterday, more good ones than bad ones. My misses were pushes and push slices, a product of not having enough weight forward at impact so I'm swiping across the ball. I'm heading back to the range now. I'm going to work on Key #2 some more (I need to keep that left knee flexed longer in the downswing) and try to work in some feels for keeping the hips from sliding back. I'm going to try that drill in the "How to Make a Centered Hip Turn" thread with the alignment stick up against my left hip.
  3. I've been working on Key #2 for the past month. I think I'm improving but it's not quite automatic yet. I also think I'm moving too much of my upper body towards the target on the downswing, rather than just the lower body. Looking at the video, I also see that I'm shifting my hips back laterally rather than rotating them. I guess I need to rewatch the "How to Make a Centered Hip Turn" video. Anybody see anything different?
  4. Once you get some good video up, my guess is you'll need to work on getting your weight more forward. Check out this thread if you haven't already. http://thesandtrap.com/t/29616/the-biggest-secret-slide-your-hips
  5. Key #2 is my priority piece at the moment. Anyway, I found this video and thought it deserved to be in this thread. My apologies if it's already been posted but I think you can very clearly see that Luke is focusing on sliding/bumping/moving his hips toward the target to start the downswing. If it's good enough for a former world no. 1, it's good enough for me.
  6. $14 for twilight during the week at Applewood with the Player's Club card. The price is right but I guess you get what you pay for!
  7. Hey, Westwoods ain't all bad. It's about a mile from my house so the convenience factor is hard to beat. Applewood...yeah, definite goat track but it's close to my work and dirt cheap.
  8. Quote: Thanks, buddy. I'll see if I can't get better video up soon.
  9. I also noticed they looked too close to my body. I looked all bunched up and it didn't look like my arms had room to swing through. I've read that thread multiple times so hopefully my grip isn't too far off. For now, I'll really focus on key #2. Gotta change that dang picture... Thanks again.
  10. I thought that would be the piece that needed my immediate attention but I wanted confirmation from an expert such as yourself. I was really hoping you would chime in, so thanks. One other thing, is there anything else that you would pay attention to in cleaning up at the moment? Posture, grip etc.? Or should I just concern myself with key #2? I'm guessing the latter...
  11. Well it's been almost a year since I updated this thread and I could really use some help. These are a couple videos I took yesterday. (Sidenote: what's the best way to get 240fps video off an iPhone 6 onto YouTube? I tried searching online briefly but I figured someone on here would know off the top of their head.) Anyway, I've been dealing with pushes, push fades, and oh so lovely shanks. My ball markings definitely tend to be closer to the hosel than the toe. I don't even want to take my driver out of the bag on the course because I have no idea where it'll end up. I worked on my swing in my basement over the winter and it doesn't look like it did any good. I've been all over the place on things to work on. Trying to stand taller at address, letting the club face open up on the backswing more, getting my backswing more upright and less around, stronger grip, weaker grip, feeling like I'm exiting left through the ball, pitch elbow etc. Looking at these videos I see that in an effort to swing less in to out, I'm now coming over the top. That looks like the cause of my recent ball flight and shanks. My hands seem awfully close to my thighs at address. The face on video is just terrible all around. I'm casting, don't know when that started. I'm not getting my weight forward at all and getting all flippy at impact. Plus, what the hell is my right elbow doing coming down?! I need a priority piece. I feel very lost at the moment. Please help!
  12. Your son's swing is better than mine! Very cool.
  13. The slide and rotation both happen almost simultaneously. The hips bump forward a few inches and the hips start to rotate open. This helps get your weight forward and start the proper sequencing in the downswing to provide that "effortless power" we all want.
  14. I plan on it. I've been doing a lot of work on my swing in my basement this winter but it's not very conducive to getting good video. I'm going to sign back up with Evolvr as soon as it gets warmer and I can get outside and get some video. Here's hoping I've changed the picture a little!
  15. Can you explain this a little more? I've kept tabs on your My Swing thread since I believe we have some of the same swing issues. BTW nice swing. Keep up the good work!
  16. It happens to all of us if you play long enough. You're definitely not alone. When this happens to me, I will really slow things down and take half swings until I get the feeling of good contact. Doing repetitions outside of what you're capable of doing successfully isn't going to help you get better.
  17. For a golfer that has the problem of rotating too much on the backswing (past 90 degrees to the point of pulling the eyes off the ball), would you recommend keeping the trail foot perpindicular to the target line (or minimally flared) as a way to limit the over-rotation?
  18. First off, great looking swing. You're a better golfer than I so take this with a grain of salt. It looks like in the DTL view, you might be making a very slight OTT move. In the FO view, you might be casting a bit on the downswing. Both of these things would contribute to a weak fade. It also seems like you're not transferring enough weight onto your left side at impact (also something I'm currently working on). However, you said your contact is pretty consistent so maybe that's not an issue. I'm sure someone much more knowledgeable about the swing will come along and correct me if I've said anything way off base. Either way, keep up the good work!
  19. Great video, Mike. Thanks for sharing.
  20. I'm not qualified to give advice but where is this indoor facility? I'm also in CO (near Golden) and would love a place to practice over the winter.
  21. Pardon my ignorance but where do I write this damn review?? TIA
  22. So I haven't updated this thread in a while. I've been working for a while now on getting a better body rotation on the downswing and keeping my right heel down until impact. It's not where I want either to be but I think it's getting better. Watching the video really makes me want to start working on shortening the backswing. Any comments are welcomed!
  23. Brian at Evolvr is having me work on something similar. My hands tend to get too far behind me as well. The drills I've been doing are designed to really feel the arms/hands in front of my torso throughout the entirety of the swing. Doing this slow is easy but when I go to speed it up, it tends to be much harder, go figure. I almost have to feel like my swing is more "armsy" which goes against everything you're told about the golf swing. You might try to feel like your arms are more active in your swing. As always, half swings at half speed to start. Good luck!
  24. Good luck man! Everybody is pulling for you.
