  1. who i think - tiger who i want - bubba or boo other picks for strong finishes, or at least i want greg norman to do well and freddie, ive come accross some interesting facts too, didnt realise rose has led the masters 3 times in the last 3 years after 1st round... and karlsson with the best average finish in all 4 majors last year.. i find it hard not to believe tiger will win, he can change gears when he wants to.... the masters will be his this year
  2. I won my comp on saturday, i shot 50 points in stableford, 24 points going out and 26 points coming in, it was a bogey free round of 63 gross on a par 69 course, so with my handicap of 8 i shot 14 under net 55
  3. With a tie for 5th at this weeks honda classic, scott piercy is proving why he is still the best rookie so far this year, i have to disagree with most of you guys but in my eyes webb simpson isnt even close, he did ok in 1 tournament and that was it, scott piercy is the best rookie so far!
  4. Hey guys, i played yesterday and shot a 4 under 64 at my course, only holes 8-18 were open so played those and made up the rest of the holes by doing a few of them twice... my driving was excellent and didnt have a 5 on my card until the last hole, all 4's and 3's (out in 32 and back in 32 also) I was actually -5 through 17 holes, smashed a tee shot straight down the fairway on 18, punched an 8 iron just over the green and elected to putt the 3rd shot which was very good and left me with a 2 footer for a 4 and a -5 round of 63, what happened next was annoying but it was still a good round overall, i pulled the putt and made a 5 but 4 under i was very happy!
  5. I dont want to sound like im spoiling the thread but in my opinion, how anybody doesnt pick Tiger as the best swing on tour is beyond me, he is world number 1, hes won the most tournaments, its the most effective swing by a mile! As far as pretty swing goes, then i like swings like Rory McIlroy but its still not "better" than Tiger Woods'... i cant judge on worst swings because i couldnt care less if i swung it like Jeev Milka Singh, if it won me the amount hes won then its all great! but his swing is not the most pretty swing out there by a long shot. I actually enjoy watching unique swings out there and seeing everybody competing with their own swings, its all about contact/strike.... i agree with people saying kenny perry, JB, jim thorpe have ugly swings but its great to watch them all. i wouldnt class them as "worst" swings though...
  6. Webb is doing well but im still sticking with scott piercy, hes been the best rookie so far this season, i cant believe he did not even place in the top 5 after being solo leader after 10 holes sunday, i had a bet on him each way to win, i could have won about £480 but ah well, least he is doing well! he will finish the season the highest placed rookie on the money list im sure!
  7. Yes i do hit it cross handed, and to me its far longer than if i used the "common" grip, but how can you say that my equipent does not match my distances??? i use a regular shaft in my driver and i DO regularly hit 350. jb1982 is totally right when he said he used to hit 340 with a $40 walmart driver..... who is to say what equipent is right and what felxes are right... whatever equipent you feel comfortable with, why change it, i played silloth on solway golf course yesterday and shot 69 gross, used driver once because i was getting 280 out of my cobra m speed offset 3 wood straight down the middle, i was outhitting my playing partner who plays to 5 handicap and hits it well, he was hitting 3 woods and i was 15 yards past with 4 iron on most tee shots.. i dont think you guys will ever believe me but why would i waste my time BS'ing on here about how far i hit it, im not even debating on here anymore, dont have doubts because your just jealous, have doubts because its pretty damn impressive!
  8. Can you explain to me how the tour average driving distance is any relevance to disagree on how far i hit it? Those guys on tour have "ALL" the game needed to be a pro and dont need to bang it out there 350+ bec ause the rest of their game is excellent...... I am not a pro, i just hit it a very long way and i play off about 8 so why the tour average off 288 means that my claims of hitting 350 seem absurd just is beyond me, are you going to say that the long drivers of the world who hit it 400+ are lying because the tour pros average out at only 288?????? the big hitters like myself dont have quite the rest of the game that the pros do so no need to compare my distances to the pros
  9. Everything i told you is 100% true, i dont lie, where does lying get you in life? i have only just got my first handicap late this year and our winter comps dont count towards handicap changes, its a really tough course too and if it was anywhere else im sure i would be playing to 2 or 3, im a very erratic player, sometimes i can go round in under par gross sometimes i can go to 10 over. maybe it is "correct" to have stiffer shaft the faster your swing, but the current driver i have now with reg flex and the ball flight and distance i hit with it is perfect, if i keep hitting it as good with driver as i do now then i "WILL NOT" be changing any specs on my driver, my launch angle is spot on and spin rate is low, i get lots of carry and roll and am happy hitting 320 regularly with the specs i have, they work for me and i wont be doing anything about it. i dont think random people would turn up to me at the driving range and golf course saying "are you the joe bloggs who i keep hearing about that kills it with a cross handed grip" if i didnt hit it that far. even the pros at my driving range ask me to enter long drive comps. i cant proove through an internet forum how far i hit it but if people have doubts then thats their problem not mine, i know i can do it and thats the end of it!
  10. I have the m speed 3 wood because it is offset and the other 3 woods i couldnt find in offset. i have a draw driver because i hit it better than a non draw driver, i stated that i dont play to hit it hard all the time so no need for x stiff shafts, i play what suits me and the clubs i have do suit me, i played through the first 9 holes of my golf comp yesterday in 5 under gross with 100% GIR so i dont think my shafts need re fittings, just because a player hits it far doesnt mean he shouldnt have a draw driver, where did you get that from?? i couldnt care less if it hit it 500 yards with a senior flex shaft, if it works for me then i wont change that. who is to tell jim furyk that he swings it incorrect? if it works it works, you should never change what works good for you, i hit it good so i will not be getting re fits on any of my clubs, should hopefully make perfect sense.
  11. Jealous! i think you dont like that word, thats what you must be, just to prove a point, i had a ping g5 and the club face smashed right in the centre after about 6 months..... so i decided to buy a g10 when they came out and after 5-6 months of that, it smashed once again exactly the same place but it was still under gurantee, i had it replaced and the face on my new g10 is starting to see wear on the face again after 3 months. If you dont believe me then i really feel for you, you must be jealous thats all i can say, im not proud of being long, its a nice feeling, but just because you may not be like that yourself, why the need to come on here calling BS??? if there is a need to say that, then i say and quote, that your last statement is BS!
  12. WHOOPS i hope i didnt jinx him, his streak came to an end after 79 holes! still pretty good going!
  13. i can drive the ball 350+ regulalry if i want to, but i play within myself and the stats i gave were the ones i play to on the course, i hit 395 yards last year in england on the 16th hole at my club, no elevation change, slightly up hill if anything, very little wind. thats what i am capable of distance wise but i wouldnt try that in comps unless i just hit a stupid bogey or something! haha Im playing Silloth on Solway tomorrow really looking forward to it, one of best links courses in UK
  14. Driver- 320 yards 3 wood- 270 yards 6 iron- 215 yards 9 iron- 170 yards PW- 155 yards LW- 120 yards
  15. haha i was thinking that myself haha! touch wood he carries on doing well i hope i havent put a curse on him now! i want him to finish well and post a good bogey free final round! hes cureently 78 bogey free... to finish the round the same way will make it 93!!!!!
  16. Anyone else seen this? hes bogey free for the last 3 holes in the sony open..... all 4 first rounds in the bob hope and currently par on the first hole of 5th round with a 6ft birdie ptt on the second hole to extend to 77 holes, bubba watson went 100 holes bogey free a couple years ago, the first full comp without a bogey since lee trevino in 1976! you can do it too scott!!!
  17. Dont know about you guys, but im really rooting for Bubba this week, well every week, but seeing as this guy has never won a tournament since turning pro (2008 CVS Charity Classic with Camillo Villegas doesn't count) i really want him to win. Im guessing it would be an emotional win.... as he can often show his emotions in interviews! Im really rooting for Scott Piercy too who shot 6 under today, I picked him as my dark horse for 2009, with 100% driving accuracy and 89% GIR so far in the bob hope, hes a good chance for this week, needs to roll in a few putts with that Driv Acc and GIR though first
  18. For me its got to be Scott Piercy, hes a streaky player, a nationwide tour grad who knows how to win, he comes in patches but when he hits form, hes pretty damn special! won twice last year and came 2nd and 6th within something like 6 weeks, I backed him each way at the sony open at 300/1..... (finished tied 12th or something like that) I also read that in 2007 he won the Ultimate Game which carried a winners cheque of $2,000,000.... the largest winning money for an event! hes a birdie machine and when he catches fire, its hard to stop him! Im going to back him again this week and have £10 each way, can only get 150/1 for him though
  19. PGA Tour- Bubba (long and longer) Boo (just everything about him) DL3 (smooth as silk) Lucas Glover (great young player but havent seen him play for ages?) Nationwide- Josh Broadaway (plays cross handed like me) LPGA- Natalie Gulbis (self explanitory)
  20. Bring tourcast back, its far better than this shot tracker, im trying to follow the turning stone resort champs, and i dont even enjoy using this shot tracker but its the only way to follow it in detail, tourcast was by far better in my opinion, what do you people think???
  21. Please tell me your joking?? are you serious??? ive followed bubba watson for 5 years from nationaide to PGA Tour and your coming here to tell me that you think i thought he was cross handed??? whats made you think that? of course i know he was left handed, im the one who plays right handed with a cross handed swing just like josh broadaway on the nationwide! i knew that bubba was a lefty as soon as i heard about him in like 2002-03! whats bubba got to do with this post anyway, i havent mentioned him! i am quite accurate with these irons, obviously not quite as accurate as the pros but certainly above the average percentage! all i was stating to the young kid who started this topic was that you can strike the ball perfectly but if you cant get it in the hole very well then you have no chance of making a living out of golf playing wise. plus the mental side of the game
  22. Hi, i only got my first official handicap this year and it was 8.0 and im 21 years old. When i was 14 my dream was to make it to the pga tour and it still is now but as i get older and older its more and more unlikely it will happen, I play all the time and when i was your age i was playing to about 14-16. The way i look at it..... If your handicap is 36 when you first start and 6 months later your off 24, it doesnt mean that 6 months later it will drop another 8 shots to a 16 handicap, and the 6 months after its 8 then the next 6 months your off scratch, it doesnt work like that, as you go lower its soo much more difficult to bettter your handicap. plus its not all about how you hit it, theres a lot of mental work like how you bounce back after a poor shot keeping focused and play every shot as it comes etc! I dont want to sound big headed but i hit/strike the ball from tee to green like a pro easily 320 or more off the tee, 7 iron 190, PW 155 but my putting and bunker play is soo wreckless its untrue, i could probably putt better on sand or under water lol! i couldnt even think about being a pro golfer on a tour unles my short game improved dramatically!! i could easily make a 3 putt from 20ft through trying to make it and putting it 6 ft past but working hard to rectify that. I really hope you can do it and wish you all the best but it will be a long road.... i've heard david branshaw from the nationwide tour only picked up a club for the first time aged 17 but hes obviously got natural talent so i dont see why you shouldnt go for it, but like other people have said, dont just rely on that as your future, stay fully concentrated on education as it will always be something to fall back on if the golf doesnt work out! Best of luck hope you dream comes a reality!
  23. this guy has challenge many pga tour players when he was on the pga tour, i mean he won last year on the nationwide so surely something bad has gone wrong recently..... maybe hes changed his driver or swing, maybe he should revert to his usual way, 22 over after 17 is unreal for his standard. steven bowditch suffered from depression and kept shooting scores of terrible standard the year after finishing 4th on the nationwide money list, he made something like 2 cuts in all his tournys on pga tour in 2006 or 2007 cant remember and included at least 4 withdrawals and 2 DQ's i feel for these guys at times, it must be so tough out there
  24. i mean.... he opened up with a 13 on the par 5 10th today followed by double bogeys on 12, 18 and 6 as well as triples on 3 and 5. i feel for this guy because hes obviously trying to earn some cash for a living!
