    Warm Up

I rarely hit balls before playing. Most of the courses that we play don't have ranges. So I just loosen up with one of those sand bag weights that you put on your 5 iron and practice some putts. During the high production months of the year the courses will put you in line for the first tee immediately when you check in. There have been days when I will get to the course one hour early so I can practice putt and loosen up some; and Mr. Starter comes over to chase me to the first tee. Even after explaining my why I am there so early the course management insists that we go to tee. So, I don't check in until ten minutes before my tee time. So much for trying to communicate and co-operate with people. Good luck in 2007.
  2. I also enjoy golfing with strangers and have developed golfing friends that way. If we had a good time golfing together we'll exchange phone numbers. We especially enjoy playing with strangers during out-of-state golf trips. During one of our trips we exchanged phone numbers and when we returned to the same area for golf we hooked up with them for a round of golf and dinner.
  3. Self employed mechanical designer, golf clubmaker, medical record management, almost anything you need done and will pay money.
  4. I just did a little golf vaca in the Pigeon Forge area over the Turkey Day weekend. Had a wonderful time and a very nice area. I think I could live down there.
  5. I enjoyed this Big Break so far and both girls in the final are easy on the eyes. Bri does has have some killer sweater zeppelins
  6. I too have been incorrectly adding penalty strokes (confessional). Now that I understand the rule my scores have gone up a pinch full at times. THANKS!!!
  7. I have been working on my swing and have lower my handicap 9 strokes, at 17 now. However, there is a bad trend in both golf rounds and range practice. I will shoot around 44 or-so on the front 9 and then fall apart by the back 9, 52+ at times. By the back nine you would swear that I never played before. At the range the top 1/3 of the bucket is real good and then fall apart by the bottom. My drives will go from straight/ slight fade on front 9 to hacker-slice by the end. My son removes all sharp objects and guns from the house after golf for one day. Very frustrated!! Any thoughts?
  8. As stated in other posts, we try to play productively. The basic, obvious rules are implemented- mainly dealing with hazards, moving balls, etc. When dropping do to a hazard we pull a ball out, toss it within five feet of the proper area, and continue. We don’t go all the way back to tee when the rules dictate it. Lost balls due to thick rough, leaves, or just the “I know it landed right here” problem- we drop and don’t count it. The pros have a gallery and workers to point out there golf balls. Our golf group walks to our balls and when ready, hit (we call it ‘ready golf’). We don’t wait for the proper order down the fairway. Continuous putting is also implemented. Once a golfer starts putting they continuously putt until finished, unless they are going step in someone’s line. This cuts the time on the green a bunch. I don’t know the rule book word-for-word; however, my son played high school golf and has learned the game thoroughly. Some of the rules seem silly to me but I am sure that someone somewhere caused the rule. High school players and coaches would nail competitors with stroke penalties for stuff that seemed really trivial. My $.02.
  9. Natalie is very pretty, along with quite a few other LPGA players. I too think that they look sexier with the pony tails and hats on. My $.02
  10. Just got done with a windy day round of golf and thought I would post some observations. I notice that going into the wind I had to club-up 2-3 clubs and was getting pretty good distance accuracy. However, down wind I could use the typical club selection to one down. This is a trend that I have always experienced. What do you experience? Thanks. Pete
