  1. The bar? It depends and for where I am in my game, it rarely matters much. I will hit a 4 iron or my TaylorMade Rescue Mid.
  2. Well, I went to a fitter and tried a lot of clubs today. I didn't realize I would get a workout from hitting so much. After awhile hitting became a chore (only played twice this year and only played 3-4 times last year). So the fitter had me try the Ping G10s, i10s, Callaway X-20 and X-20 Tours, and Mizuno MX-25. I hit the Callaway X-20 Tours the farthest but was all over the place. I didn't really like the feel/weight of the club for some reason (and same with the X-20s). I was very consistent but a little shorter with the G10s and the Mizunos. The i10s were last in distance but a much tighter dispersion. Not my favorite to hit. In the end it came down to the G10s and the MX-25s. I really liked the MX-25s and they felt similar in size to my TaylorMade Supersteel Burners. When I hit them well, it felt great - very nice feel with that club and they felt right in my hand. But they weren't as forgiving as the G10s and I thought I would end of enjoying those clubs more as they would provide a little more assistance as I try to improve. I could have easily gone with the Mizunos but chose the G10s. Though they definitely are thicker and have less feel, I was more consistent with them and about the same distance. However, if it doesn't work out, I am definitely going with the MX-25s at some point. I was really impressed with them. So, about one week for Ping G10s, black dot with stiff shafts!
  3. Funny - I have them and just today got fitted for new Ping G10s. I really liked them but was looking to upgrade as I played with them for about 9 years. I didn't play much over that time, maybe 7-10 times a year on average. In general, I think they are good clubs and if you found a set in good condition you should be pretty happy with them. I only upgraded as I now have the bug and will be playing a lot more this year and I wanted to try something new. I still have them and will keep them as a travel/backup set.
  4. I chose the Ping G10 recently (10.5, stiff) and love it. I was using an old Taylormade 300ti. Obviously a great improvement - I hit the ball much straighter and the distance has been good (for me at least).
  5. Some of the ones I like best (not a list of "this is without a doubt the best song by any standard whatsoever"): Message in a Bottle - The Police King of Pain - The Police Why Worry - Dire Straits Everlong - Foo Fighters Come as you Are - Nirvana Tom Sawyer - Rush Karma Police - Radiohead Pride (In the Name of Love) - U2 Running to Stand Still - U2 Imagine - John Lennon
  6. Thanks, I do know that I need to try them all. I have not been able to test out the Titleist clubs but am very intrigued by them. I am looking for a club that will grow with me as I, hopefully, go from a mid-90s to mid-80s player. And from what I have read it seems like the AP1s have gotten good comments in that regard. I have hit the G10s and liked them but they did seems a little clunky to me. However, I hit them well and have always wanted to own Ping irons. Of the posts I have read, it seems that people prefer the X-20s to the G10s - again, for that room-to-grow factor. Nothing like seeing for yourself. I just need to be patient and wait until someone has a set of AP1s that I can hit and then I will try all 3. Thanks!
  7. Just today bought a generic bag of white 2.75" tees for $5. I also have some of the shorter variety that I use for par 3's.
  8. Bump - making decision in the next day or so and wouldn't mind some thoughts. Again, thanks in advance for helping. Just curious how often people normally upgrade their irons.
  9. Hi all - new to the forum and looking for some advice. How often should someone upgrade their irons? I used to play 1-2x per month at most and will be playing a lot more this year as I have caught the bug. I just upgraded my old Taylor Made 300TI driver to a new Ping G10 which I had a lot of success with yesterday. So I have a set of 7-8 year old TM Supersteel irons and thinking about looking at a new set - the Ping G10s, the Callaway X-20s, and the Taylor Made r7s. Any thoughts on these and my current clubs? I was also wanting to look at the new Titleist AP1 but having a hard time finding them. I shoot in the mid-90s right now. Is there something else I need to include here? Thanks in advance for the help! Clew84
  10. I don't think anyone has dominated his opponents mentally as much as Tiger has. Obviously he has done it on the course but the way he affects other golfers' games is interesting to watch.
  11. I'm an institutional investment consultant for a large financial services company.
  12. Legendary Run golf course in Cincinnati.
