  4. Yea I'm new & really haven't developed a swing yet, although I have tried a few but have been inconsistent thus far. I have been thinking about given the S & T try but the more I read about it I keep hearing most everyone how who is using it does well w/iron but really Struggle with the DRIVER ! hmmmm
  5. Well I'm bascially a one-planer now & figured I should learn it the proper way. Yea after some more thought I placed the order last night. Got my email confirmation that it was shipped a little while ago. Can't wait till it arrives & looking foward to it...thnx
  6. I've been thinking about getting Hardy's Plane Truth DVD set. It retails for $100. I'm familiar with Hardy's concept I'm just wondering if his book is sufficient since obvioulsly musch less $. Or is his video set worth it ? Just wanted some insight for those of you who have already watched. Thnx
  7. For me I have found you always take a "full " swing on every shot. To get distance control its not how hard or soft you swing but rather how mar you take the club back. If I want shorter distance I'll just take th club back part or half way depending on how short the short is. But always take a full swing from there will complete follow though . It comes down feel, put most of your weight on your lead leg, hands ahead of the ball, feet close together. Grab your LW or GW, for short ptich shots i dont rotate the hips much, mainly just rock the shoulders back, hinge up & hinge down and nice smooth follow though. Practice pitching into a bucket in you back yard.
  8. Thnx fellas for the respones...good lookin out
  9. I've been told one swing fits all clubs & have also been told this is not true, so really im not sure.. I'm COMPETELY aware that the longer irons in general are harder to hit, being there less lofted. I'm new to the game & have taken a lesson thus far. I practice about 4 times a week, since taking up golf. I'm hit my wedges & short irons pretty decent for a noob. But begin to struggle with mid-long irons gernally anything from a 5-6 iron on down. Very low shots & poor distance for these clubs. The driver is a joke too, I dont even bother taking it out of my bag because im so horrible w/ it. I know its hard to comment w/out seeing my swing but in general do you guys swing the same for all clubs or flatten out a bit for the longer shafts ? I do play the ball up in my stance slighlty for longer clubs but it doesnt seem to help. I practiced for about 2 months before going out on a course. I played a par 3 course the other day for the 1st time & did ok. But I wont even consider playing a standard course if I cant get off the Tee or hit a longer iron to get into the fairway, as my score would be a joke. Really wish I could figure this out. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  10. Well I have it as we speak. I did see the doctor but he didn't tell me anything I already havent been doing. 1) Obviously no golf playing for a few weeks to a couple months depending how bad your condition is. 2) Ice for up to the 1st 72 hours 20 mins on, 20 mins off...Grab an ace bandage to help support the muscles & tendons. Ibuprofin 200 mg 3 times a day, one with each meal. Or alieve twice a day. Ive also been taking 1500 mg of vitamin c day as well. 3) Try and use the arm very little, mine was so bad I couldnt even lift a cup of coffee w/out intenes pain. So become a lefty for a bit. After 72 hours switch to a heating pad unless you still have alot of swelling/pain then continue the ice. 4) After you have no pain or very little start stretching & light excercise. It could take a couple weeks or or months to heal depending hwo bad your condition is. Mine after 2 weeks is just starting to feel slightly better but still have a ways to go. Basically golfer elbow or medial epicondylitis is a strain or tear in the muscle tendon. I feel you pain it sucks but hang in there. Just nurse the hell outa of it. If you cant move your arm @ all then you may need surgey, which is worst case scenario. Only a doctor after taking xrays/mri could tell this. In most cases above is the normal treatment. To answer your ? I dont know if there is any equipment to avoid this...Its generally tendonitis is form overusing the muscles. If your playing alot tone it down and remeber to warm up very well prior to swining..Gluck
  11. First off I'ma noobie to golf but really have the golf fever. I've been practicing alot @ the range and have a big 10'x8' golf net in my backyard. I have taken a lesson & have been really working alot on my swing. There are days when I am really making good contact with the ball & some days I feel as though I completely lost swing all together. I mostly have only been working w/ my irons & occasioanlly I will try and hit a driving iron just o mix it up and get used to hitting off a tee. But like I said maily iron work about 85% of the time. I cant tell if I'm doing something different in my set up or what the deal is. When some days I can it the ball striaght with decent loft & my swing feels sweet. And days like today after leaving the range & felt completely outa rhythem, slicing, topping, pulling, wiffing. Maybe I practice too much about 4 days a week, i dont know. I do try to do all the basics, swing easy, keep my head down, a little spine tilt & slighly bend the knees. Maybe my adress is incosistent which is making me insconsistent..Any tips to stay more consistent with my swing..Thanks
  12. I a complete newb to golf & am looking for some advise. I'm 33 & have only touched a club for the first time a few weeks ago. My neighbor gave me his old set of Titleist Tours to keep, these here: http://www.equip2golf.com/archives/h....html~archives I have taken a lesson from a local pro to get some basic fundamentals. (Stance, setup, grip) Since then I totally have the golf FEVER ! Been hitting the range up frequently & practicing my swing in the backyard with real & practice balls. Now my question is this. A few people told me the clubs I have are older but very good, which I already knew. However being there baldes w/ a little "smaller" club head they are harder to hit for a beginner. Thus far I have been inconsistent when hitting up the range. I'll hit a handfull of decent shots. Then top or pull a few shots. As a beginner would I benifit from just grinding it out & learning with these muscle back blades which may take me longer to get more consistent hitting the ball. Or should I look into trying some cavity backs irons with a larger club head ? I completely realzie Its going to take alot of time before I become somewhat comfortable stroking the ball. Keeping my head down, swing easy etc etc I havent even really bothered w/my driver what so ever have just been working primarily with the short irons 7-P for the most part. Although I have 2-P in the bag.. I'm just not sure if should continue to work these clubs or consider something more forgving while learning ? Thanks
