I dont mind people making statements like that, as long as they can back up their conspiracy theories. So what did they do to make it easier for Rory?
-
Ive missed some Rory wins in the last couple years including the Players (again) last month. this one feels so good. Congrats Rory on being only the 6th golfer ever to win the Grand Slam.
-
Cool, Phil won his first major at 34 years old. Rory is 33.
-
Long time no update, Rory is the first player to win three Fed Ex Cup titles. Rory defends his CJ Cup title at a completely different course. Ascends back to #1 in the world. Oh, missed his RBC win as well.

I wonder if I should just try swinging 75% at all times so this never happens again. The driver swing in question was pretty close to as fast as I go, still balanced, but 95%. Sports medicine for relief? Or is there something out there for prevention? I have not even thought about that, should probably look into it, yes. I've been avoiding doctor visits lately as I've had some pretty stellar hospital bills over the last couple years. One visit could mean there goes my new desktop computer I want :P Interesting! I thought maybe more reps could mean better tolerance to injury. Like building muscle forearm muscle swinging a club could help me stay balanced throughout the swing which could help injury prevention. I may have been looking at that completely wrong. YES, a DnD reference! Growing up I thought I was maxed out in constitution, I've never broken a bone and sports was my life (and skateboarded for 20 years on the side). These past 7 years though, these back and neck issues are horrible, even though it is not very often, if it keeps happening I'm going to start dreading stepping up to the ball. Good stuff! A co-worker encouraged me to get a percussion massager today. I know that would be absolutely too painful right now, maybe in a couple days. I don't eat a lot of sugar, meat eating is my vice, I will say I have eaten more sugar than I usually do lately...interesting... I love dumbbells, but I have never been injured working out so I have a wide variety of the most popular exercises. Lots of compound lifts. I think I'll likely start trying to swing a little slower and see how that feels. I'll probably do that for awhile and what will happen is I'll have to carry 240 yards early in the golf season next year and I'll completely forget about swinging easy. Then I'll be right back here reading this topic again 😄

I get a golf injury about once a year, one that takes me out for a least a week, and each time I try to change my warm up and prep before I go out so it doesn't happen again. In the earlier years it had been lower back, but the last 3 years in a row I've pulled a muscle on the right side of my neck and the pain heads down into my right shoulder. I can barely get up for like 3 days, much less golf again for at least a week. I'm curious if there is any injury prone people here, and what your warm up is like, or any other injury prevention tips? FYI I strength train 4 days a week. I warm up for around 20 minutes before I play a round, which includes yoga, I believe this has kept my lower back injury free for just over 3 years. Now I have to figure out how to keep my neck injury free. I do swing pretty fast naturally, I don't feel like I'm over-swinging though, all my injuries have happened from driver.

I'm guessing this is probably a good one for me as well.

Thanks, @saevel25, so a combination of a deeper turn, earlier in the swing? I'll work on the drill you posted at the gym tonight. They have some bands there. I thought maybe i had to work on flattening the swing.
-
Right on, went to the driving range this morning and filmed a few swings. I dont even know what to think anymore after seeing them. Like a wispy tree in the wind trying to hit a golf shot.
-
Was able to get my wife to the range to film a couple swings. been a long time since I’ve seen myself on video, sobering to think that my handicap has lowered and my swing hasn’t changed a ton.
-
Thank you @iacasand @billchao. I have a steeper swing and come from slightly over the top I believe, it has been a while since i have seen my swing on video so that is next in line. I really want to try flattening out my swing. Does anyone have any youtube videos they really like for this?

Hey y'all, it's been a long time. Every year I've gotten better and I'm playing off a 9 handicap nowadays. However, this year is the first year where I have been playing slightly worse than last year. Putting has been great, around the greens is ok. But the big miss has been off the tee, two way miss, if I can just hit the fairway, I'm golden. Now, I know I'm coming slightly over the top on driver still, I can kind of feel it, even though it also feels like I am getting to the inside as much as possibly can, my father in law says he can see me coming over the top still a bit. I can get away with it in my irons and hit some really good fades into greens, with the woods you start to see the inconsistency. But with driver, it's obvious. So I'm going to start coming from the inside as much as I can. Here's a stupid question that I should know, is coming from the inside and getting a flatter swing two different things? I suppose it would be, as steep swings can still come from the inside right? I guess my question is how do you know when you're getting too flat? When you're coming too much in from the inside? How do you know when you're getting stuck? Do you feel it and know automatically?

It has been a while friends. Rory grabs his 20th PGA tour win against a solid field at the CJ cup. Rory: "The last few months I was trying to be someone else to try to get better, and I sorta realized that being me is enough and being me, I can do things like this."

Bryson flew back to Dallas because he thought he missed the cut, finds out about his mistake, flew back to North Carolina at 2am. Finished with a top 10 which moves him to #1 in the FedEx Cup. LOL

First Time Club Fit (Driver), Should I?
Crim replied to Crim's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Back on tracman i went and we indeed noticed some inconsistencies in strikes with my Sim and i was struggling. I still hit a couple bombs (for me) 252 carry with 275 roll out but it was tremendously inconsistent. We tried different shafts and lofts and draw bias but eventually started trying different drivers. Long story short, i found something i really liked in the Callaway Mavrik with a stiff shaft. Almost every shot was flying down the middle with a 243 carry and roll out around 260-ish. So not exactly what i wanted but an increase in distance and consistency. I also got a $75 in store credit which was awesome, i thought the Mavrik and Sim were the same price. Anyway i immediately took it to the driving range and i adore this driver. It just feels right and i hit it great at the range. Flight looks good. So not the huge distance gain i was looking for but still a decent gain. Also my swing speed was around 102-103 mph, i think i said 107 earlier? Yeah i didn't get anything close to 107 this time around. -
First Time Club Fit (Driver), Should I?

I just sent an email to the fitter, i dont know if he'll look at it or if it even helps at all but we'll see... Just trying to help the process, but if you rather all the information in person you can just ignore this email. I was fitted into the TaylorMade Sim driver a couple of weeks ago and after 5 rounds and quite a few range sessions i just cant dial it in and when i do find the sweet spot, it goes the same distance as my old driver. My main hope is focusing on carry distance, i dont care as much about maxing the roll out. So im wondering if maybe i should go back to a higher loft. I was also hitting a fade in the fitting bay but when im out on the course i tend to hit a little draw with both my drivers, that's interesting. Maybe im just having trouble lining up my feet and shoulders in fitting bay, i dont know. See ya soon -

Thats good to know, hopefully they'll allow me to do the same. My "refitting" is tomorrow. The one thing i didnt like last time is we focused on overall yardage and roll out quite a bit. I think im going to ask if we can just focus on carry this time, i just want to be confident in my carry yardage...hoping for consistent 250 yd carry. Roll out i dont care as much anymore. I don't know, they're the experts. -

Understood, but it's not $500 more comfortable, and my old driver with a standard shaft would be just as comfortable and i actually like the look and feel of the old driver better. My main purpose was to try and gain more distance, easier on the back was secondary, and that seems like a shaft issue. Either way i dont think they'll let me return, but maybe we can tweak a few things. -

I'm not going to lie...I thought about that, haha. Yeah I even had a few in the hitting bay roll out to 282 through 285 yards. Did he throw a 20 mph artificial wind behind me?! haha. Nah we had a couple drivers going in the 270's not just the Sim, but the Sim felt the most comfortable, so I'll just have to go back in get some answers. -

Update: I've been playing the same courses I normally do and going to the driving range and I have not seen the distances I achieved on the launch monitor apply to the course at all. I'm hitting the Sim Max about exactly the same distance as I was my TM Burner. A bit frustrating to say the least, however the standard shaft does seem to be quite a bit easier on my back, I can do a full range session with the standard shaft as I was dialing in the Sim Max driver whereas the stiff shaft on the burner would wear me out with just half a bucket of balls. The person who fitted me said I can bring it back at any time for some tweaks, so I guess I'm going to do that. What do y'all think? What if I continue to carry just 230 with a roll out around 250 just like my old club. Hopefully I can get some answers otherwise there was no point in spending that much money (aside from the ease on the back). -

Indeed, i swung about 80% ever since my back injury last month and i have better control. I swung about 80% to 90% in the fitting today and still got a bit sore. But yeah when i threw my back out last month i was definitely swinging close to 100% Yeah i dig it. It come out to $499 exactly but the way i look at it, ive played the same clubs for the last 5 years for $20 at a garage sale and i play quite a bit of golf (about 3 times a week). I felt it was time to test out a fitting of a brand new club. -
First Time Club Fit (Driver), Should I?

Well i got fit for the first time this morning (just driver) and it went great, although a bit tiring for my back and we were seeing me lose a little bit of distance by the end as i was feeling tired. As i suspected, my old driver was carrying around 230 and rolling to around 250. I forgot to take notes on swing speed and ball speed but im pretty sure my swing speed with the old driver was around 102. One thing he noticed is that i have a very high ball spin rate and so we tried a bunch of different drivers and adjustments to get the spin down. He also had me switch from a stiff shaft to standard to put some ease on my back. In the end, with my new Taylormade Sim Max, im carrying the ball an average of 252 and rolling to around 275. That's exactly what i was looking for. My swing is right around 106 and 107 average with the new driver with a smash of 1.5 i think it said. I don't understand smash, ball speed, or spin rate but the fact that im carrying as far as i was rolling out on my old driver, im very happy. -

Nice. Sometimes you get lucky. My entire set of TM burners were $20 at a garage sale, divorced wife that wanted to get rid of them asap. It's a great set and i actually hit a high percentage of fairways with the driver. But driver is my favorite club and i just feel i should be carrying quite a bit more. Im not looking forward to paying a boatload of money, but i think the process will be fun, and a bit of an education for me. -
I assume the first one was years ago, however the "after" was posted on his Instagram story less than a month ago.
