It's pronounced with the "jay" instead of "yay", http://inogolo.com/pronunciation/d145/Camilo_Villegas verified by Camilio himself. http://www.golf.com/golf/tours_news/...678835,00.html http://www.thegolfchannel.com/core.a...FD22A1219072#7 Some spanish dialects pronounce the double L's as "J" instead of the norm "Y".

Ya, It's kinda hard for us to make a recomendation when we have no idea what it is you're trying to do. Replacing the 5W with a hybrid? Or getting a hybrid just get one? Is there a particular reason you want the hybrid? a yardage you need filled? etc...

You CAN'T change the loft of a driver anymore than you can any other club. But you can change your launch angle by opening/closing the face, ball position, ball types, and of course shafts. If you are getting high launch angles that are causing you distance, abd you don't think it's your swing or don't want to change your swing then a new shaft is your best bet. But IMHO, if you are getting extreme launch angles then there's something in your swing/setup causing it.

Just keep it clean and dry. I've had my SM Oilcan for 6 months and the finish is perfect everywhere except obviously the face and sole. Just wipe it dry after using/cleaning. To spot clean that surface rust spot just use water and a towel. Once it's off, just keep it dry and it won't rust. Rust needs 3 things- oxygen, water, iron.

I was thinking the same thing...$2 2 liter of coke...and you can drink what you don't use. Plus it does all the work for you. Put it in a pan with the wedge and soak it overnight. No rubbing. No wirebrushing. Just wipe it dry.

Gross as it sounds, spit works wonders. At the range when I'm practicing, I'll put a lil spit on the club face, on both irons and driver, and wipe it clean/dry. Not only will it show you exactly where you are hitting on the clubface for 10 shots, it also shows the compression on the driver face.

3 Golf Swing Tips That Are Destroying Golfer's Swings!
NBGC replied to lynchjo's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Wow. I read your blogs...then read your posts on this forum...then read your blogs... Again, I strongly urge people to take his pov with a grain of salt. I'll take the high road and leave it at that. -

Seriously tho, who cares what any of us think. If the 7w is the club for you for that distance, then use it. As Iacas said, VJ does. And I just watched Allenby..or was it Appleby hit a 7W onto the par3 6th at the pga championship. I don't carry a 5 or 7 because, well, I like my hybrids and hit them well both off the fairways and rough. I would think that a hybrid might be better out of the rough than a 7w, but it's all personal preference.

3 Golf Swing Tips That Are Destroying Golfer's Swings!
NBGC replied to lynchjo's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Ah I guess I read too much into what you wrote and more than a bit confused. As far as taking you out of context, there really wasn't much context to go on. "RELAX - Pure rubbish! How many times have you heard this golf swing tip from a golf pro or a playing partner? The golf swing is a violent action - is there any other violent action you take when you relax? - of course not - This is foolish advice." What are we to deduct from that? You wouldn't tell someone who swings smooth with a good tempo to relax. Only someone who is tense. If they are tense, they aren't swinging to thier ability. Telling them to relax and loosen up means to ease up and loosen thier musclesand swing smoothly, not herky jerky. I would also point out that a golf pro would probably recognize if someone was tense when they advise them to relax, not someone who already has a smooth swing. So we understand you as telling someone who is tense to relax as foolish advice. Regardless, there seems to be some miscommunication. Maybe you could explain what "relax" means to you in the context you put it in that didn't translate in the post. Btw, congrats on going from a 8-10 handicapper to a +2 in 1 year. that's quite an accomplishment. -
My bad, I coulda sworn I saw the scallops that are unique to the Sp-8's, but then again using slow motion on the dvr and trying to get a close look at his shoes while putting isn't as good as a hires photo.

He's wearing Nike SP-8 Tiger Wood's Tours. http://www.worldwidegolfshops.com/Me...roduct_Count=7 I recently bought the Nike SP-8 Tour Limited Edition PGA Championship's over Adidas Tour 360 II's. These shoes are fantastic. 4 rounds of walking and they are still spotless. It didn't hurt that they were marked down from $169.99 to $99! http://www.worldwidegolfshops.com/Me...roduct_Count=5

And that was at relative sealevel, imagine him hitting those at altitude where they hold the tourneys.

You are correct sir. This gave me an excuse to watch it all over again and I took notes. Hole... yds...Garcia... Kim 1...... 448... 323 ... 300 2...... 456... 342... 350 4...... 352... 303... 311 5...... 463... 298 ... 291 6( 3w ) 500... oob... 263 7...... 601... 330 ... 318 9...... 416... 289... 316 10..... 594... 316... 322 12..... No info, only showed putting 13( 3w )352... 255 ... 230 Drives won: Garcia 3 Kim 4 Each also won a 3W off the tee. Kim was much more accurate. Garcia hit rough on 1, unplayable on 6, bunker on 9 which cost him distance. Regardless, they both were incredible and it was my fav match of the day. Westwood had blisters and needed his diaper changed. Garcia was on antibiotics, possibly due to flu. He requested to be sat out on Sat. Contrary to popular belief, many PGA Pro's can hit well over 300-350yds. They just don't due to course conditions and try to put themselves in better scoring opportunities. This course was cut for the long hitters. Zinger had the rough cut down so his bombers could go for the long one's without fear of losing the ball into a bad lie in the rough. Even Perry at 48 hit 350.

Wut's a 7 wood?

LoL, ya, I'd feel much better about our GVMT if all the streets were paved, stamps cost 20 cents, and I had free health care as long as the trade off was serial killers, rapists, and child molestors were in college with our girlfriends, brothers, and sisters. One the otherside, if that were true, my dad woulda told me at 18 to steal cars and park them at the police station or hold up a donut shop so he coulda bought that vacation home 20 years ago.

Shoddy course management. Think back to any blowup hole and most times it could have been avoided by using good course management. 350yd Par 4? Try a 3W instead of your 260 yd driver. Better to be 130yds out and hit a PW than a 6I out of the rough. (good days even, bad days save 1 stroke) Hit one into the right/left side woods? Punch out into fairway for a good 3rd shot instead of trying to hook/slice it around that tree. (good days save 1, bad days save 2+ strokes) 240yds left on a Par 5? Hit an 8 or 9 and leave a good wedge shot in instead of grabbing that 3W and going for it and going oob/hazard/topping/fat shot. (good days even, bad days save 1-2 strokes) 15yds to to downhill green over a bunker? Try your normal 15 yd chip and worry about a slightly longer putt instead of trying to flop it and then scull it 60 yds. (good days even, bad days save 2 strokes) You have to take the time to think- If I hit it perfect whats my situation? If I hit it average whats my situation? If I hit it horrible whats my situation? What are your chances/ability of hitting the perfect shot vs horrible? If the difference between perfect and horrible is more than 2 strokes, play it safe. Do I follow my own advice? LoL look at my hdcp, but I'm getting alot better. Last few rounds I had no hero shots, even hit 3W on Par 4's. Course management is no fun. We wanna hit that great WOW shot. Simple fact is, for an average golfer (18-22hdcp) proper course management can shave 5 strokes everyhitng else being the same. I've had dozens of people try and tell me that, but never tried or believed them til recently. I'm a beliver now. There's the old story about a 10 handicapper playing with a 20 handicapper and the 10 says, "I bet I can score better than you playing only 3 clubs- 7i, wedge, and putter"....If you can guess who wins then you already have the knowledge how important course management is to scoring well.

NBGC replied to grantc79's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips

Will blade irons improve your swing?
NBGC replied to grantc79's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think that's an awesome idea. I think I'll follow that lead and buy a used set of 32's of at least a few blades to use at the range. I also have new 57's and this could solve 2 issues: less wear and tear from hitting 1000's of range balls slow me down on those days i just bang balls so i'm committed to each shot. this should translate to the course when i use the 57's. Sorta like practice puttin to a tee so the hole looks huge during rounds. -
3 Golf Swing Tips That Are Destroying Golfer's Swings!
NBGC replied to lynchjo's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I hope this is a joke...I completely disagree. In a previous post in another thread http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8987 So this is 180* from what you had posted. This forum is here to help other golfers, not hinder thier progression. Remember, bad advice is worse than no advice. And I would warn any double digit handicappers from following his advice. Tension locks up your wrists preventing them from turning over at impact. It's proven. You obviously don't want your wrists and club "loose" at the top because that would promote inconsistant ballstriking, but staying "loose" and relaxed with your repeatable swing is what you're looking for. You'd be hard pressed to find any + handicap player, PGA Pro, top 100 teacher, or any golf pro worth his pay that would agree that you should have a death grip and swing tight. They'll all say that the swing is a fluid mechanic with tempo. You don't see PGA Pro's with white knuckles and gritting teeth before they hit that approach shout or putt on the 18th while in the hunt. You see them breathing deeply and taking easy practice swings to "stay loose". The whole purpose of the waggle is to remove tension before the swing. As far as bringing the club inside, I think it's more of a thought process during the takeaway than anything for helping those that have an outside-in swing. By telling them to take the club inside it makes them turn thier hips. You just can't tell a high handicapper to turn thier hips, they wont understand what it does, but bringing the club back inside is something they can understand and see. That said, You HAVE to bring the club inside on the backswing. No way around it. The better the player, the sooner the club comes back and in, it's a matter of mechanics when the hips turn. Better players turn thier hips better than high handicappers. I'll guarantee you can't not bring the club inside during your hip turn and hit it consistantly. I've watched my instructor teach new golfers with a crazy and unorthadox aid...the computer chair. He'll have the student sit it it and lock it in place and have the student hit the ball. Then he unlocks it so it swivels and tells the student to use his legs to turn the chair 45* back on the backswing and thru to 45* towards the target. Guess which way hits the ball further and more consistant. This stunt educates the student on the importance of using your legs and hip turns to hit the ball correctly with distance and accuracy. It demonstrates the arm swing vs the body swing. -
Ah, that makes sense, lol dunno why I didn't figure that out.

Kim outdrove Garcia when Sergio used his fairway woods, on the holes that he hit driver, he always outdrove Kim. They are both fantastic long ball hitters and hit 350 (Kim) and 365 (Garcia) on one of the holes. If you remember, Kim was always hitting the approach shots first putting the heat on Serg to hit one stiff as well. JB hit a couple 350's and a 375.

Birdieman, What club do you use to gap your 4h and 6i? I'm assuming you don't have a 5i in your bag because: Driver 3W 5W 2 hybrids 3 Vokey wedges 1 putter Is 9 clubs, leaving room for 5 more. 6i-PW?? I can understand bridging the gap between 240 and 210, but not at the expense of a 30 yd gap in the midrange.

New igolf Neo ....looks pretty cool!
NBGC replied to pjc's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
It's 1 year from activation, or, 100 downloads. If you dl 100 courses in 1 month then alas, no more dl's. If you dl 1 course and wait 366 days then alas, no more dl's. And honestly, 100 courses is a lot. I downloaded every course I'll play in my area, courses I'd prolly never play in my area, courses I may vacation near, courses near family and friends, and courses I have no hope in hell of playing (i.e. TPC Sawgrass, Harbor Town, Augusta, etc) and I still have like 40 courses left to dl. Maybe you'll have more places and opportunities than I, no biggie, it's only another $30 for another 100
