  1. In my club championship. It was a par 5 playing with a downwind with some left to right (slice). I hit a decent drive that sliced into the right rough. Not a big deal. I had a 5 iron left (i think, it was downwind). I push the shot, but it was pin high in two. I was 20 yards to the right the hole by the cart path, but was on some hard dirt with very little grass. There was a bunker between me and the hole with only about 4-5 yard between the edge of the bunker and the hole. I tried a flop shot off the hard crappy lie and didn't hit it hard enough. I ended up about 1 ft short in the bunker. It plugged. I could only see the top of the ball in the sand, about the size of a nickel (seriously, I want to say a dime, but that might be B.S.). Plus I had the lip of the bunker to deal with and when I took my stance my left foot was about 1 1/2 ft above my right foot (knee area). I swung pretty hard at it just trying to get it out. I swung and there was a big puff of sand, which blew right into my face. I had know idea where the ball went or if i bladed it right into the sand. I was looking down in the sand for the ball and I heard the thump. It land and rolled to about 2 1/2 ft. Made the putt. Par. I was thinking double and best. I ended up taking 3rd in my flight in the club championship.
  2. I took the challenge. I have been playing pretty good lately. Actually I shot par from the Blacks my round before. My prediction was that I would shoot a 37 (+1) from the reds because the par round was a fluke and I would probably make some bad decisions. I predicted 37 but I thought I should have shot a 34. I did the prediction before my round. I played with my wife and I think it kind of through her off that I teed off with her. My round went. Hole 1 - Birdie, I thought I had the eagle (-1) Hole 2 - Birdie, Short hole basically a par 3 from the reds (-2) Hole 3 - Double Bogey, Killed a drive OB over the green (E) Hole 4 - Bogey, 3 putt from 18 ft. Tried to make the birdie (+1) Hole 5 - Par, It is a par 5, I basically a 3 putted. Things are going south. (+1) Hole 6 - Par, Par 3 just not routine par (+1) Hole 7 - Par, Drove next to the green not a great short game shot. Hole 8 - Eagle, Drove the island green. Great putt (-1) Hole 9 - Birdie, Drove into the base of a tree, hit it up short and got up and down on the par 5, (-2) So I shot my 34. I should have more confidence. The tees I normally from are the blacks 69.4/119 I played from the reds (womens) 62.8/102
  3. The oil can finish is design to wear off and it will rust after time. Or you could buy an oil can wedge and put it in a bottle of coke and you will basically have the raw wedge I think you are looking for.
  4. If the course plays that it doesn't hurt to go for it. why not? Just play the course. I'll hit my 3-wood even if I am 300+ out (there is a 600 yard par 5 that I play) there is a couple traps at 100 to 150 yards out that make the layup hard. Just play the course. It is the people that hit a 220 yard drive and then wait for the green clear before they hit their 3wood from 220+ off the deck that should be questioned.
  5. I totally agree with iacas. The ranger was just trying to speed things up. If they were that far out of position, they should've speed up. It sounds like they were warned. Plus if you are playing that slow, I bet their scores weren't that great anyway. The ranger is encharge of keeping play going. I have played a really nice course that I never play because it is expensive and there was a junior tounament that day. It was 6+ hours to play 13 holes. Plus it sounds like the tournament was small so play was proably still open to the public. Teach the kids how to keep up.
  6. I have been using one for most of the year. I think it is a good choice especially if you use it off the tee alot. I would consider how you hit your 5 wood, ie if you are going to go for the green in two. But it is a good option.
  7. I putt like that except for I have a reverse grip (left hand low). I like it but I 2-putt almost everything no matter if I have a 6 footer for birdie or a 45ft. I think it is mental
  8. Padraig made an 8 on a par 3 at the PGA. I think it might speed up play alittle, but you are right that it should be the ESC. Although, I doubt alot of golfer understand the ESC.
  9. I just had some gatorade and tried to focus on the next shot.
  10. Okay, one of my goals for this summer was to finally break 80. I have shot 80 or 81 several times. Yesterday, I went out golfing and things started real good with a birdie on the first hole. The front nine, I played pretty good. I had 3 birdies and 2 bogeys with a ball in the water on 9 which I still saved for par. So I shot a 35 (-1) on the way out. I was pretty sure I was going to break 80. So then skip to the 18th hole. I was even on the back. I did a good job not getting to ahead of myself. When I would start getting to excited I would take a drink and settle down. The 18th hole is a 459 yard dogleg left with a pond on the right and out-of-bounds left. (my misses that day were left, usually I slice). I felt like Phil, My 3-wood isn't long enough to get to the dogleg. I hit a drive but was afraid to go left so I blocked right. I ended up next to a fairway bunker in this unlevel (uphill and slanted) lie with a bumb infront of the ball. I had tree troubles and tried a miracle low cut 3 iron from 200 yards that went up into the trees and left me a 150 yards but I was under some trees. I hit it on the fringe from there. I basically three putted from the fringe to get double. I was ticked I had a chance to break par or atleast shot par and blew it. Hey I shot a 73 that is definitely below 80. Highlights of the round hole Score 1 Birdie 2 Par 3 Bogey - Bad course management 4 Birdie - Almost a hole in one (1ft) 5 Par 6 Birdie - Pulled it left (almost OB) but hit out into the fairway, pitched in from 72 yards (skycaddie) It was awesome. 7 Par 8 Bogey - Par 3 missed green bad chip 9 Par - Drive into the water, but 5 wood on and made par 10 Par 11 Bogey - Tree problem, Tried to cut the corner but got unlucky 12 Par 13 Birdie - Par 5 but make a good putt 14 Par - Make an good up and down 15 Par 16 Par - Starting to get heady, but made a great up and down from 30 yards 17 Par - Par 3 missed the green bad but made a good pitch and a great 10ft downhill putt for par 18 Double - I am such an idiot
  11. They have to stop manufacturing them at the end of the year. They can still sell them while supplies last. So yes they will go away when the new rules go into effect for the tour.
  12. A brand new Mizuno Black Carbon Bettinardi BC5 Putter for $85. The were having a end of season sell with all their demos and stuff.
  13. 18 Holes: I've shot 80 a couple times 9 Holes: 34 (-2), i wish the course would've had a back nine so I could've broke 80.
  14. I demoed a 909 D3 with a Diamana shaft for a couple rounds and was really impressed with the feel of the shaft. I am not sure about launch angles and stuff, but if you like to feel the flex of the shaft and where you hit the ball on the face the diamana was really impressive.
  15. I had one of those days a few weeks ago. I have the same goal to break 80. And I was on 16 and a three putt bogey which was pathetic, but the worst was on 18 I left a 10 ft uphill birdie putt short that was for 79. I didn't realize I was that close becasue my front nine was so bad. I went out in 43 and in with 37. So I will next time make sure I know what I am putting for. Plus I wanted to shoot par for nine this year. But, Just to let you know, This last week I went to visit my parents and played the nine hole course I first learned how to play one and shot 34 (-2). It was awesome. I even missed a couple more birdie chances (Less than 15'). I hit 7 out of 9 greens and was putting from the fringe on the 2 misses. I haven't been out since but I know my 79 is coming. Good luck. You will get it.
