Deep Stuff

I will say 1 bad thing about my Fiancee - she put her foot down in regards to me bringing my clubs on our honeymoon - Guess I am renting ;) Seriously though, she is great when it comes to me playing. She knows I do not go out and party much and this also means, I don't get to see my friends a lot (most of them do not not live very close). She always is saying to go play with the guys or my uncles or whomever. Sometimes I think she is cheating on me but as long as it keeps me playing!!!

Your current clubs: Irons? Driver? Woods / Hybrids? Putter? Wedges? When do you plan on replacing them? Me: Irons - 2 seasons (replacing next season), I was talked into buying graphite shafts on Adams Ideas. I like the hybrids (3 & 4) but wish I had only 1 with a 4 iron. I did not know better at the time. Driver: 3 seasons: (not sure). I am playing with the Taylormade 580XD and I like it. Although drivers are fun to buy, they are pricey and not sure if I want to spend. Hybrids: Adams 3 & 4 I-wood (going to keep them). When i get new Irons, I am going to bring these with me. Possibly both or maybe just the 3 depending on room. Wedges: My Ping Lob Wedge is my money club. I love it! Pitching wedge will go with new clubs. I have a Taylormade ICW-11 that is collecting dust (yeah it will go). Putter: Odyssey White Hot - New York Yankees Putter. The informomericals keep the Golf Channel alive. If not for them, the channel would have probably no tmade it. I enjoy most fo the content on the Golf Channel and watch it regularly. All-Star Challenge is cool. I also am beginning to like "Whats in th bag" just to see the innerworking of the companies. z

In the summer especially I will play with 3 or 4 gloves per round. As my hands sweat up a glove, I lose my grip and the whole purpose of wearing a glove is gone. I switch gloves every so often and let the used gloves hang off my cart to dry up a but. As far as a new glove. If I was to play with the same glove, I would venture to guess I can get 10 rounds out of it however I am not sure. Since learnign how to grip a club, my gloves last MUCH longer. BTW: I fell in love with using footjoy SofJoys (the glove that logo on the velcro overlap is a ball mark) I hate the pins as ball markers and change in pocket annoys me.

It is automotive. You can probably pick it up at an Auto Parts store. The stuff is excellent! Mother Polish also works well (another poster said it). ***EDIT*** Let me take the time to go through the proccess. I am slightly getting into selling used clubs on EBAY. Clubs that I can find for cheap at yard sales or from other EBAYers that did not decribe them well enough. So here is the process: 1: I use a club cleaning brush to get the heavy suff out 2: I habe a Scunci - ***Also great for cleaning around the house (why I actually bought it) http://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages...i_steamer.html - This gets all of the grooves clean - I use this only on clubs that I get that are really dirty. DRY the club 3: Flitz - This gets grease and grime off the clubs and polishes them up. Flitz SHOULD not dry - lightly put it on then rub it off hard The process is not that long and to be honest it is a labor of love. 3

I picked up a tube of flitz. The stuff is excellent for cleaning clubs heads. If you can find a tube, I suggest picking it up. a small tube goes a VERY long way and it really shines up the club. I had no idea how dirty my clubs were until I started.

A guy at work, about 15 years my senior, is an avid golfer. We have talked many a time about the game and were trying to get out on the course together. Well a few weeks ago, we finally made it happen on a nice 9 hole course after work. The first time, it was a good time. So we have been going out about once a week. Well he NOW critiques my game constantly. He is always pointing things out - UNSOLICITED advice. I love playing. Getting out fo 9 after work is great. I have no problem playing with anybody but he has to curb the "advice." I do not mind somebody saying a little something they notice after a swing NOW AND THEN but he does not stop. I have enough swing thoughts in my head and usually after a bad shot, I can feel what I did wrong. But he has to point it out and show me, as if he was a pro. Usually we are playing with a single or a pair that we were sent out with and the advice actually embarasses me a little. As if I cannot play. Oh yeah - he is only a few shots better then me and I am much longer then him off the tee and about an iron ahead of him - which I say is an age thing. He has been playing for A LOT longer then me. This guy is all tight with the hire up in the company so it is also good for me professionally. I feel like I am talking about a failing relationship here. LOL! Any advice to keep the weekly game but squashing the constant advice.

I am happy to say, I never broke a club in anger. Sure there have times I wanted to, but never went through with it.

It is still a year (and 10 days) away, but my finace keeps saying my clubs have to stay home during our honeymoon. Anybody here play Golf in Aruba? If so (because I will rent!), how are the courses? Price, playability, conditions?

I always try to remember that we all were beginners at 1 time. Although I beleive ettiquette is rule number, some people need to be thrown some slack. There is always a way to inform somebody with cooth. There was this 1 time though. I went to a local course to get 9 in after work. I was put on with 3 nice guys (2 were there together). The first tee and it was obvious that it was going to be a long round. I am by no means tour-ready so I have patience BUT c'mon. Let me describe the situation: both were in dirty jeans and t-shirts. one actually had on work boots. Not the typical golfers. After a few shots they mde it past the ladies tee's. it is not the shots, it is the practice swings. 5 per shot is too many when you move the ball 7 feet at a clip! When we got on the tee, they just putted and putted. it was a horror show. They were clueless and it wa known. I am not going to lie, I was getting a bit fustrated. It was a late round and I wanted to get done before the sun began going down. Well the other gentleman and me were obviously not haivng a good time. We were polite and civil and were talking amongst ourselves. When we got to the 4th, the guys said 'why don't you guys play ahead...We held you up long enough.' it was like Music to our ears.

I am in no position to give advice, but I can feel with for ya and tell you what happens to me. The biggest issue I have is when there are people behind me. I do not play slow but I feel the need (for some reason) to play quicker to try and NOT hold them up. This causes me to break my routine and shots suffer. other stuff: Ego: Sure I can take my 8 iron out and have to make a great shot and really get into it, but I could also use my 7 and be a little less agressive and do the same thing. Bringing the last hole to the next: 2 weeks ago, I had a tough but makeable putt for birdie. I played it on a perfect line but it hit the back of the cup and did not fall. I made the par but was upset. I may or may not have shown but my mind was on the near miss. I sliced the next shot into the rough, had to take my medicine and settle for a lucky bogey. Fatigue: I never ride. I enjoy walking a course especially with my good pals. It allows us to catch up and have some good times thatn we would not if we were in to seperate carts. HOWEVER, I had let my diet slack over the last a bunch of months and this is causing me to fatigue to much on the course.

OH! I have some good lines to insult the course or my shots. Nothing like missing a putt and coming with a brilliant, yet offensive phrase to describe the ball.

First I think it is a GREAT idea. Does it promote gambling? No, it takes away the desire to gamble with REAL money (which is the problem). Since they can use the chips to play for something tangible, they do not need to play for money. Gambling, for me, is for bragging rights. My friends and I play for a few dollars in different categories. The 5-6 bucks I may make or lose on the course means nothing but the bragging is what is fun!

Is there a general rule of thumb? I ask this because I am having some problems when I am close to the green, but cannot use my 6 or 8 iron to chip and run. I use my Lob wedge but I tend to hit it thin and skull it hard at times. I honestly think if I can solve this problem or at least minimize it by a lot, I can shave a lot of shots off my score, especially now while the greens are not in great shape.

Can you play 9 at Bethpage? Usually if I am going to play 9, I will go to Timber Point (East Islip / Great River) or if I am pressed for time Gull Haven (just to swing and get practice). I usually play nine if I can find a way to sneak out of work early or if I am bored on an early afternoon on the weekend. I thought you could only play 18 at Bethpage? Do they have 9 hole rates? I tried to get a tee time at Bethpage a few times but with no luck. I made an effort for Friday - asked for 11:00 and got a 2:45 but figured that would be to late in the day to get the round in if it was booked up that heavy. My friends are coming in from the Bronx so I had to think of them too. Sunken Meadow is a nice change though from the South Shore courses I play; Timber Point, West Sayville, Brentwood and Bergen Point. I like the hills and landscape opposed to the deadly wind at Timber Point's Blue. Being that it is State, my friends and I like because of the cost. If I go to the city or they come on to the Island, it ends up costing us MUCH more money if we play Suffolk or City courses. Bethpage and Montaulk are the only others around in regards to State. Have you played Black? I am terrified of it! It is my goal for the seaon though. I want to get the nerves and the skills to attempt to play it. I hear it is awesome. My Uncle who shoots mid-80's usually played Balck and scored a 112. He said he was lost on the course. I keep the avatar to remind me of my goal.

Oooooooooooh. When I am playing as a solo in another group who are playin the back tee's, I join them. It is usally a minor change at most of the courses I play. Also it gives an old course, a new feel for me. The course I plan on playing often thist year, Sunken Meadow, seems to really make the back tee's harder on a few holes. Fortunatley I only go there with my group and not as a solo. If your friends are anything like mine, you better make sure you out drive them on every hole. If not you are going to hear it. You are in a no win situation with your foresome. If you score better, they will throw the tee's at you. If you score higher, they can really rib on ya.

I thought everybody was?? I like Phil. He seems like a regular guy with his priorities in order. Seeing him with his little girls and going back for a second hug was a great sight. A friend of mine met him at Bethpage black. He was up in Westchester and he and his caddie came down to the island to look at Black (in 2001). The story goes, my friend said to him, "Hey Phil, What do you think about our little playground." Phil, made some jokes about the course and said somthing to the extent, this is no playground, it seems like a place where golfers are sent to be punished. He seems like a very sincere guy...the type of guy I can drinka beer with.

They are playing for possibly the most coveted prize in Golf, maybe even sport and they are laughing, smiling, talking and enjoying the round. It is an AWESOME SIGHT!!! They way they look is like me and my pals walking up a green or towards a tee box. Well, with the exception of the shot the shots they make.

Master's week - gotta love. My fiance will come in and look at me like I hit rock bottom. She just does not understand the sport and the obsession that goes along with it. So before reading this, i was reading ESPN.com and the rankings that they have on the site. So...the logical choice is Tiger. Lets face it, he is just better then everybody else. Also with the Master's being so important to him and his dad, he may have extra motivation to win it al being that this may very well be his father's last chance to see his son win. "Lefty" - Wow did he destroy the field at the Bell in his tune-up. Will he win? probably not but come Sunday, I will shocked if he is not in the hunt. Sergio - man if Sergio could only play 4 days in a row he would be a force. he will be at the top on Thursday and Friday. He will not be in the top 10 come Sunday. Goosen - Could it be? is it Reteif's turn? Nah, not this year. he will be in the top 10. So who wins the Master's? Tiger finishes second and has to put the Green jacket on the guy who beats him in a play off in 2006...........Chris DiMarco.

Well....rules are meant to be broken right? My pals and me are still getting to know the game and are trying to get better but also have fun. Over the past few years we have played more strict by the rules but still make some amendments. Although 1 friends boasts to be the best amongst us changes his lie to often, we do allow ourselves some liberties. I attempt to play as strict as possible because I do want to get better and be able to play with anybody without destroying their round. I tend to play the stictest amongst my usual group.

Like a monkey with Turrets Sydrome. I know that is not a professional but it is the easiest way to describe my swing.

So you won first prize and you get to chose 3 players from the PGA or the LPGA to play a round with at any course in the world. So who would you pick? Would you take them to your course or go for 1 of the courses you wish you could play at. I head out to West Sayville (Long Island) with... Vijay Singh: This guy is a workhorse. Like him or not, he seems to really know his stuff and may be able to offer a tip or 2 for me to improve. John Daly : He brings the beer and seems like he can make me laugh and keep the mood light Natalie Gulbis: Sue me, I want to roll around in the rough with her.

I noticed 2 small fractors in my driver shaft. It is a stock M.A.S. 2 on a Taylormade R 580 XD. Because I am a bit out of my mind, I tried to see how deep they are but could not. I used the only magnifying glass I had but could not tell. I do not think they are breaking all the way through but am concerned that it may break on the course because of the weekened shaft and it may possibly causing my shots to be off (Well maybe that is a hopeful thought ). But seriously, the little fractors or chips, should they be a concern? They are 8 and 9 1/2 cenitmeters from the end of the hossel (sorry could not find a american ruler). Both of them are in line with each other the closer slightly towards the face size. Should I go out and buy an new Cleveland HiBore because of it? Maybe a G5? R7? FT-3? My fiance would have a fit but it was be cool to buy a new driver - lol.
